They had 5 children: E.D. and J.D. of Mt. Hermon, Ansil of Faliah, Mrs. Ella Corkern of Faliah, Mrs. Bessie Losa (Bessie) Rogers of Folsom. She was 72 years of age and a sister of T.B. Erwin and the late Frank Varnado. -- Married December 22nd, Letha Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Collins of Ellisville, Miss., to Robert W. Bateman, son of J.E. Bateman. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bennett of Paducah, Ky., a daughter, Florence Evelyn. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. N.M. Forrest to Ertie Mae Crow, H.E. Forrest to Miss Clyde Stick- land, all of Mt. Hermon. -- Leslie Banister of Kentwood died January 11th. He was born and reared around Mt. Hermon, and is the eldest brother of W.E. Banister. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. W. Roscoe Foil on January 14th, twin boys, Roscoe Floyd, weighing 6 1/2 pounds, and Wilmer Lloyd weighing 6 3/4 pounds. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Bateman on December 24th, a son. -- 01-23-1930 Jesse Daniel Burris died Friday from a fall. He was 30 yeas of age and the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Burris. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. Interment followed in the Miller cemetery. -- Marriage License: Esene Bickham to Myrtle Dokes, Bogalusa. -- 02-06-1930 Leslie E. Banister, born 10-29-1858 in Mt. Hermon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Banister, died January 11th and was buried in Kentwood. He married Sarah Seal and had 6 boys and 4 girls to survive him. He was buried in the Mt. Hermon cemetery. -- 02-13-1930 Buren Miller was brought to Franklinton Monday from Palm Beach, Fla., where he died Friday in a fall into an empty gas tank. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Miller of Pisgah commu- nity, and was about 20 years old. Interment was in the Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. John M. Ott on Thursday, a girl, Gussie Leah, named for her grandmothers, McNeece and Ott. -- Died February 8th, H.L. Frazier in New Orleans, interment in the McDonoughville cemetry. He was 82 years old and has no surviving kin. -- Rev. A.D. George returned from Wisner, La., where he was called last Saturday to officiate at the funeral service for a former friend, C.W. Scates. -- Mrs. J.H. Magee on March 16th, a daughter, in Stonewall, La. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. N.J. (Pompey) Stafford on March 17th, a daughter. -- 03-27-1930 Vernon E. Stringfield, aged 29 years old and the father of 3 small children died Wednesday, March 19th. He was a native of Washington Parish and the son of Q.A. Stringfield. He is also survived by a wife. Burial was in the Bethel Church cemetery. -- Mr. M.E. "Ellie" Brumfield died Monday and is survived by a wife, 2 sons, and 3 daughters, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers. -- Married Saturday, Mrs. Courtney Welch of Texas, to James A. Fussell of Kentwood. -- Marriage License: John James to Vera Dyson, Tylertown. -- The 2 year old adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Miller, fell in a tub of hot water and was so badly scalded that she died from the effects Tuesday and was buried in the family cemetery. -- Thomas W. Brumfield, an old citizen and Confederate Veteran, died at his home in Mt. Hermon and was buried in the Roberts cemetery. He was 88 years of age. -- 04-03-1930 Marriage License: John Smith to Ella Sertin, Bogalusa; J.A. Fussell, Kentwood, to Mrs. Courtney Welch, East Bernard, Tx.; Charley Dillon to Mary Brumfield, Franklinton. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Butler, former resident of Frank- linton, a daughter, Bettie Jean, in Jackson. -- Mrs Ellen Barber, widow of Arvel Barber, died March 31st at Sunny Hill, son of D.L. Barber. He was 88 years of age and buried in the family cemetery at the I.J. Green home near Enon. -- Wednesday at the residence of her son, Dan Garrett, Mrs. Emily Garrett, died at the age of 79 years. Her deceased husband, Isaiah Garrett died 7 years ago. Survivors are: 1 son, Dan, 3 daughters, Mrs. Minnie McCarty of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Lucy Edwards of Madisonville, and Mrs. Celia Bateman of Franklinton. (Bud) Foil died on April 4th. He was born and reared in this parish, where he married Clara Bell Wood. Alford, whose maiden name was Tabitha Warner, died in New Orleans on April 24th at the age of 75 years. The remains were brought to Washington Parish. Survivors are 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 children and a husband. -- Walter L. Smith died April 21st , at the age of 76 years. On 11-25- 1874 he married Emma J. Warren and had 15 children. Interment was in the family cemetery. -- Obediah Merritt died Friday. The remains were buried in the Roberts cemetery. He is survived by his wife and 5 sons. He was 73 years old. -- Mrs. Fred Alford died and was buried in the Boguechitto cemetery. -- Mrs. S.M. Gage died Friday in Miama (Miami), Fla. She was a sister of Mrs.J. Vol Brock. -- James Magee of Isabel died April 22nd. -- 05-08-1930 Mrs. Carlous Duncan died last Thursday. Interment was at the Maple cemetery. She leaves a husband, 3 children, 1 only a few days old. -- Miss Ruth Ott died last Thursday in Osyka. She was buried in the Osyka cemetery. William was 61 years, 4 months, and 1 day old and had been married 31 years to Beulah Magee, who with 6 children survive, Mrs. Pope (Olivia) Crain, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Thomas and Miss Thelma Bickham, John Herbert, and Millard Bickham in the home, 2 sisters, Mrs. T.H. Burkhalter of Franklinton and Mrs. W.W. Jenkins of Mt. Hermon. Thomas Zachariah Bickham died at age 53 years, 6 months, and 7 days and is survived by his widow, the former Lonie Thomas, 4 children, Mrs. Grace Dillon of El Dorado, Ark., Edgar Bickham of Mt. Hermon, Mrs Beulah Beach of Cybur, Miss., and Miss Myrtis Bickham, at home, survive him. Interment for both was in the Ellis cemetery. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. J.I. Magee on May 22nd, and 8 pound son. -- Mrs. J.W. Sandell died in Magnolia, and was the former "Teenie" Simmons, for many years a resident of Franklinton. She was the daughter of Monroe Simmons. Her husband, Rev, Sandell preceeded her in death by about 15 years. She was nearly 75 years of age. Survivors are her brother, T.C. Otis Burkhalter to Nita Fortinberry. -- Mrs. Herbert Alford, formerly Freddie Elizabeth Blackwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Blackwell of Walthall Co. She was born 9-30-1898, and died June 13th. She married Herbert Alford of Warnerton on 11-1919. Interment was in the New Zion cemetry. Interment was in the Morris cemetery. -- July 25th, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Stevenson died at 5 months and 22 days old. "Uncle Wess" Miller of Mt.Hermon died July 31st, at the age of 72 years. Survivors are his wife, 1 son, Tommie. Interment was in the Mt. Burial was at the Mt. Hermon cemetery. -- Mrs. Saphronia Miller, wife of M.N. Miller, born July 29th, 1918, and died September 13th, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 14 days. She was the mother of 10 children, 4 children living. She was laid to rest by her husband in the Bond cemetery. Hermon on 2-1850, and married on 12-15-1880 to Emma Merritt and moved to Tangi- pahoa Parish. They have 5 children, Edgar, Erastus Magee, Mrs. Floyd Dyson, Mrs. Lee Naus and Mrs. Price McMellon, a number of grandchildren, 2 brothers, T.J. of Sunny Hill and D.N.
