Wadsworth. Interment was in the family lot beside her father, D.M. Wadsworth. -- Mrs. Jane Self died Friday at the home of her mother, Mrs. Dock Crow in Franklinton. Burial by the Bogue Chitto Church in the family cemetery. -- Mrs. J. Miah Magee of Enon died Sunday. She was a sister of W.P. Bulloch of Franklinton, and S.D. Bulloch of Covington. Survivors are her husband, 1 son, and 5 daughters. Interment in the Enon Baptist Church cemetery. -- Thad Knight, son of the late Martin Knight of Enon, died in New Orleans where he lived with his wife and children, and was brought back to the old home in Enon for burial. He was a nephew of B.K. and J. Wess Knight. -- Mrs. Modez Tullos of Bogalusa, daughter of Billie Crane of Pine, died Monday and was buried in the Crane cemetery near Pine. -- Married, Katherine Greenlaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.E. Greenlaw, to Colden Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Simmons of Mt. Hermon, on Friday. -- Mrs. Margaret Miller of Mt. Hermon died. Hermon, a son on Tuesday. -- Married Wednesday, Mervin Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vanda Miller, to Netta Bateman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bateman, both of Mt. Hermon. -- Thadeus Knight of New Orleans died January 8th and buried in the Enon cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Knight of Enon. Survivors are his wife and 2 little girls, Emmy Lou aged 2 years, and Yvonne Knight, aged 4. -- Mrs. Margaret Smith Miller of Mt. Hermon, widow of the late William N. Miller died last Thursday. She was born 6-17-1845 in Pike Co., Miss., and married 12-12-1867. They had 10 children, 7 surviving, Monroe Miller of Kentwood, William C., Fleet R., and Wallace E. Miller of Mt. Hermon, Charles Miller of McComb, 2 daughters, Mrs. Sallie Bateman and Mrs. Samantha Morris of Mt. Hermon, 42 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. Interment in the Miller cemetery. -- George Long, a reputable colored citizen of Clifton died Monday in an automobile accident. Interment was at Pico Tuesday. Survivors are his wife and several children. -- 01-26-1933 Marriage License: A.O. Bryant, Warnerton, to Inez Chiles, Franklinton; Vincent Prieto to Ethel A. Fitzmorris of Covington; Alton Gatlin, Bogalusa, to Janet Mathews, Rio; Will M. Spencer, Columbia, to Lula Morris, Bogalusa. -- James Edwin Noble died Sunday in Bogalusa. He was born in Chattanooga, Tn. In 1872, but the greater part of his life was lived in Ala., his step-mother, Mrs. Jas. Dixon Noble and her 2 sons and daughter being who he lived with. His only brother, C.M. Noble of Anniston, Ala., and his sister, Mrs. C.W. Ford of Atlanta was at his bedside. Burial was in the Ellis cemetery by the side of his little son. Survivors are 3 sons, James Edwin Jr. and Shelton Noble of Jackson, Thomas Dixon Noble, age 14 in the home with his mother. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bateman on January 18th, a 7 pound daughter, Marilyn Mima. -- 02-02-1933 John L. Bankston, born in Washington Parish on 1-18-1848 at the age of 85 years, died. He married 12-1868 to Emily Smith of Warnerton and had 11 children, 3 of whom preceded Mr. Bankston to the grave. Survivors are Eugene and David Bankston of Sunny Hill, W.B. Bankston, Mrs. Leila Bond, and Mrs. W.A. Stafford of Franklinton, Mrs. Sallie B. Bankston and Mrs. Mary Crawford of Tangipahoa, Mrs. Zina Garner of Plain Dealing, La. His wife preceded him to the grave 18 years ago. He had 59 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, as well as 2 brothers, George and L.H. Bankston, 2 sisters, Mrs. Dorcas Self and Mrs. Candace Alford. Burial in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. She is survived by a number of relatives. -- 02-16-1933 Thomas Lambert of Mt. Hermon died Sunday and burial was at the Old Baptist Church cemetery. He was 38 years of age and a veteran of the World War in France. He was twice married, first to Nancy Schilling and had 1 child; second to Pearl Schilling and had 4 children. -- Little Lella Gibbs Dorsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Dorsey, and sister of Josephine Dorsey, all of Bogalusa, died Saturday. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. W.M. McLain, an 8 1/2 pound son, William Alton, on Friday. -- Mrs. Martha A. McLain died Wednesday in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Dan J. McElveen. She was 87 years, and 10 days old, and is survived by an only child, L.W. McLain. She raised Olan O. Varnado, son of D.A. Varnado, after the death of his mother, who was the daughter of Mrs. McLain. Kelly, Hodge, La., to Merle Lincoln, Bogalusa; Collier Crain, Bogalusa, to Martina Amacker, Franklinton; John Taylor to Zoinette Clapton, Franklinton; Hubert Hinson, New Orleans, to Virgie Lee Booty, Franklinton. -- Mrs. Etta Westmoreland, wife of the late Belton Westmoreland, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Breland of Mt. Hermon, last Thursday and was buried at the Pleasant Hill cemetery. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Neal Strahan and was 55 years of age and has 3 children. -- Mrs. J.H. Mrs. Phillips is now making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Delaughter. -- 03-30-1933 Mrs. William Fusssell of Kentwood died March 22nd, at age 86 years, and 6 months. She was the daughter of the late William Richardson,and a sister to Sen. H.C. Richardson of this town, 2 other brothers survive, W.L. and L.L. Richardson of this parish, and a sister, Mrs. L.A. Bickham of Van Vleet, Tx. Survivors are her husband, 2 sons, a daughter, A.B. of Flucker, La., J.A. Fussell, and Mrs. J.R. She was the daughter of the late Capt. John Wadsworth, Confederate soldier and one time judge. At the age of 20 years she married H.C. Richardson, they were married 36 years when she died. They had 10 children, 9 living. Survivors are her husband, 9 children, Mrs. Roland Young of Covington, Miss Jessie Richardson of Baton Rouge, Mrs. T.M. Babington, Jr., Mrs. T.H. She was formerly Daisy Crowe, and granddaughter of Mrs. Ada Corkern. She married about seven months ago. -- Jack Simmons, 16 year old high school boy was burned to death Saturday. Laird to Oliver Engerran of Bogalusa on April 8th. -- Mrs. M.T. Brumfield died in Jackson, Miss., and was brought to Bogalusa for the funeral Tuesday. She was the mother of Mrs. J.J. Warner of Warnerton, and a sister of Mrs. D.E. Branch and Monroe Simmons. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. Onza Miller, a son, last Friday. -- Marriage License: Sidney Davis to vergie Lee Butler, Bogalusa; Pearl Allen to Clara Robinson, Bogalusa; H.E. Wahl to Silton Warren Bateman of Franklinton, son of Mr. Jason Bateman. -- 06-01-1933 C. Doremus died May 26th in Bogalusa, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 21 days. Survivors are his wife of 53 years, an only son, O.C. Doremus, and an only grandson, O.C. Doremus, Jr., a half sister, Mrs. M. Gorham of Champaigne, Ill., only brother dying a few weeks ago. Burial was in the Ponemah cemetery. -- Mrs. Hubert Bailey Dutel, wife of John J. Dutel, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dutel, died Friday at West Palm Beach, Fl. She was the daughter of H.C. Bailey and Etta Johnson Bailey. They married in New Orleans on 10-24-1925. Mrs. Dutel dying not long after the birth and death of her infant on 5-21. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. Survivors are her husband, father, 1 brother, Jas. F. Bailey of New Augusta, Ms., 2 sisters, Mrs. B.P. Montagriff of Denver, Col., and Mrs. B.B. O'Mara of Jackson, Ms. -- 06-08-1933 Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Burch went to McComb Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Burch's mother, Mrs. Eugene Martin, who died Saturday at Baytown, Tx. -- Born to Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Varnado on June 6th, a 9 pound daughter. -- 06-15-1933 Marriage License: Ollie Hill to Clara Phillips, Franklinton; Ira Powell to Gladys Rogers, Bogalusa; Will Brown to Ellen Simmons, Bogalusa; Alfred McCoy, Bogalusa, to Sophia Brown, Varnado; William Bailey Jr. to Arthur Bolton, Bogalusa; Lance Phelps to Tessie Peterson, Franklinton. -- Thomas D. Day, Lincoln Company's oldest citizen died June 7th, at the home of his son, Will H. Day. He was 101 years old. Mr. Day was born at Franklinton on 4-10-1832 and was a member of the Summit Rifles, Co. A, 16th Miss. Reg. In the War between the States. He married in Summit to Julia A. Sharp. They had 5 sons and 3 daughters. -- Eli Glass, age 72 years, a former resident of this community, died in Folsom Sunday. Interment was in the Morris cemetery. -- 06-22-1933 Bolivar E. Kemp of Amite died June 19th. Burial was in the Amite cemetery. His brother, William B. Kemp, age 51 years, died 3 weeks ago. Survivors are his widow, formerly Esther Edwards Conner, 1 son, Bolivar Jr. of New Orleans, 1 daughter, Eleanor Ogden Kemp, 4 sisters, Mrs. Howard Spencer of Miami, Fl., Mrs. Forret McKee of Jacksonville, Fl., Mrs. Robert Menuet of New Orleans, and Mrs. William Wilson of Idependence. Congressman Kemp is the son of Judge William Breed Kemp and Elizabeth Nesom Kemp, born in St. Helena parish on 12-28-1871. His great grandfather, Jonathan J. Kemp settled in La. In 1904, his grandfather, Hillory J. Kemp, Sr. -- Married June 17th, Josephine Burris to Donald White, Bogalusa. -- Sympathy is expressed to Dr. C.V. Forshag in the loss of his aged mother, Mrs. Annie Seal Forshag, who died in Amite Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.W. Dees. Mrs. Forshag was 74 years old. He was preceded in death by his aged wife by three months. -- Mrs. Howard Porter of Mt. Hermon, received a message yesterday, that her sister, Miss Lucille Thomas was drowned. She was 16 years old and lived near Tylertown. -- Mrs. Roy Pierce Thompson was killed in an automobile accident in Baton Rouge Saturday and was buried in that city. Rodriguez of LaPlace on December 2nd. -- 12-21-1933 Milton Holmes, who was under indictment for manslaughter in connection with the killing of 2 negroes at the Washington Parish Fair, was killed in new Orleans Sunday in a beer parlor, Theodore Lesky, the proprietor, was charged with the murder of Holmes.
