She was a homemaker and a member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Methodist Church in Bogalusa. She has been a member of the Olive Chapter Eastern Star in Illinois for the past 56 years. Survivors include three step-children, John O. Waldrop of Denham Springs, Carol Ann Henk of Omaha, MB, and Hugh Waldrop of Las Vegas, NV; a sister-in-law, Varna Raye Wheat of Bogalusa; eight step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Alice Fierst; her first husband, Henry Strahan; her second husband, Jack E. Waldrop; a son, Richard Strahan; a step-daughter, Jewell Boyd; and a step grandson, Terry Dedeaux. Survivors include her husband, James Messer of Bogalusa; two sisters, Earline H. Wheat of Pine and Carolyn Wilkins of Crossraods; a niece, Sharon Dykes of Bogalusa; a special niece, Debby Bracey of Mt. Hermon; numerous other relatives; and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Earl and Essie Hinson; and two brothers, Lavon and Hugh Willis Hinson. Williams; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Dewitt Sharpe of Bogalusa and Shirley and Lamar Keaton of Baton Rouge; a son and his wife, Billy Wayne and Beth Pounds of Bogalusa; two sisters, Mary P. Edwards and Willie B. Williams both of Bogalusa; a brother, Bruce Pounds of Bogalusa; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Pounds and Fannie Williams Pounds; and a sister, Ida Bertionere. Easterling, a dairyman and a member of Oral Baptist Church, was born Nov. 1, 1920 in Walthall County, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sebe and Effie Magee Easterling; his first wife, Mae Dee Easterling and two brothers, James and Elvis Easterling. He is survived by his wife, Olean McKenzie Easterling of Tylertown; one step daughter, Mickee Jackson of Tylertown; one step son and daughter-in-law, John and Sue Fortenberry; one sister, Bobbie E. (AP) - A Franklin County high school student was killed after he was struck by an tractor trailer on U.S. 98 near Smithdale. Rodrick Wells, 17, was headed to school Monday at about 7 a.m. when he pulled out in front of the truck, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Errol Pierce. Wells was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler, Levoy Knight, 50, of Franklinton, La., was not injured, Pierce said. Weaver served in World War II from 1942-1945 in the United States Marine Corps. He participated in action against the Japanese Forces in Tarawa, British Gilbert Island, Siapan, Tinian, and Marianas Island. He later retired from the LA Department of Highways in August of 1973 at the age of 49 as an assistant district engineer.
