He was a retired school bus driver for the Washington Parish School System and retired dairyman. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and J.D. Warren, Bobbie Sue and Charles Thomas, all of Franklinton, Sharon and Randy Crain of Sandy Hook, MS, Betty and Harry Neal of Mandeville, and Peggy and Keith Thomas of Sandy Hook; five sons and daughters-in-law, James Magee, Larry and Kay Magee, Floyd Magee, Tony and Lisa Magee, all of Franklinton, and Tommy and Teresa Magee of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Wilkie Magee and Wanzie Magee, both of Franklinton; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Jones Magee; a son, Kelvin Magee; a daughter, Renea Terrell; and two brothers, Woodrow Magee, and Johnie Magee. Visitation was Friday and yesterday morning at Crain Funeral Home. The funeral was yesterday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leran Hunt, Rev. Willie J. Passman, Rev. Dominique Lanya Weary (Died Aug. 30, 2002) BOGALUSA n Dominique Lanya Weary, an infant, died Friday at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. She is survived by her mother, Kathryn King of Bogalusa; her father, Norman Weary of Tylertown, MS; a sister, Chelsea King of Bogalusa; a great grandmother, Mildred Tullos of Bogalusa; a maternal grandmother, Sandra King of Bogalusa; a maternal grandfather, David J. King of Franklinton; a paternal grandmother, Yolanda Weary of Tylertown; and an uncle and godfather, David P. King of Bogalusa. She was preceded in death by Eugene Weary. Sue Singley Vince (Died Aug. 30, 2002) BOGALUSA n Sue Singley Vince, 49, a resident of Monroe's Creek community died Friday at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. She was a member of Monroe's Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jewel Vince of Monroe's Creek; a daughter and son-in-law, Mechelle and Chris Crain of Monroe's Creek; a son, Chris Vince of Monroe's Creek; three grandchildren, Tiffany Crain, Aaron Crain and Jace Vince; a brother, Wilfred Singley of Monroe's Creek; three sisters, Elaine Seal, Charlene Adams and Wilda Scott of Monroe's Creek. She owned and operated Pugh's Flowers, INC. for over 50 years, was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was involved with various civic and community organizations throughout her life. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Merle Laborde and Sallie Louise Hoy, both of New Orleans and Patricia Josephine Parker of Bogalusa; grandchildren Edward T. Laborde Jr. of Houston, James F. Hermon, died Saturday in Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. Born Sept. 8, 1941, in New Orleans, he was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and a sawmill laborer. Survivors include his wife, Hynetia Brock Watson of Mt. Hermon; a son, Travis Watson of Mt. Hermon; a daughter, Sabrina Watson, also of Mt. Hermon; three grandchildren, Brianna, Moreese and Angelle Watson, all of Mt. Hermon; a god-daughter, Deidre Young of Covington; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Donald Lea Sr., 80, a resident of Bogalusa, died Wednesday in St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. A graduate of SouthWest University at Lafayette, he was a deacon of Superior Avenue Baptist Church, a school board member for 12 years, and past master of Center Lodge. He also served as secretary of the lodge for 13 years and was active in the Milltown Players. Survivors include his wife, Tommie H. Lea of Bogalusa; three daughters, Joy McMichael of Pensacola, FL, Dawn Heddings of Woodbridge, VA, and Laura Smith of Covington; a son, Donald Lea Jr. of Hammond; a sister, Evelyn Starks of Bogalusa; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. William Plummer Mizell (Died August 28, 2002) BOGALUSA n William Plummer Mizell, 81, a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa, died yesterday in his home. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Crown-Zellerbach Paper Company. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elaine Parker Mizell of Bogalusa; two sons, James William "Bill" Mizell and his wife Mary K. "Cathy" of Bogalusa, and Charles Ray Mizell of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Mizell of Bogalusa, Amanda Laine Ohmer of Baton Rouge, and James Christopher Mizell of Covington; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Garrett Mizell of Covington, and Kaden Michael Ohmer of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was a retired dietary aide of Ochsner Foundation Hospital, a member of the New Orleans Bible Church, and also attended Beran Bible Church and Faith Bible Church of Slidell. President of Computer Service Center in Jackson, he was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Wildlife Federation. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and was very loyal to his friends. She served for many years with the Washington Parish Fair Association on the Homemaker's Building Committee and the Mile Branch Settlement Committee. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the A.W. Robbins Sunday School class. She is survived by her husband, George E. She was a member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church where she was a missionary and usher for many years. She was also a member of the Wesley Ray United Methodist Women. Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Elenh Coching Bilberry Hebert (Died Aug. 15, 2002) ATLANTA, GA n Elenh Coching Bilberry Hebert, 26, a resident of Jonesboro, who resided in Bogalusa, LA, for a short while, died Thursday in Atlanta. Born in Arcadia, CA, to the late Edward L. Bilberry and Lee J. Bilberry on Dec. 16, 1975, she was educated in the California School System and attended Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA, Citrus Community College in Glendora, CA, and Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, majoring in broadcast journalism. She was a Girl Scout, student library volunteer and head usher at Reynolds Christian Academy in Pasadena. At a young age she helped manage her family's restaurant in Pasadena. While attending SU, Hebert worked three part-time jobs including as an aide in the attorney general's office in the state capital, with animals at Poland Shaw Pet Store, as an on-air personality for WXOK and WEMX and as co-host on the Guy Brody Show. President of SU Mass Communication Club, she directed, edited and produced several on-campus and Baton Rouge news shows. She also served as master control operator for Disney Studios and network operations coordinator for AOL Time Warner. Family members said Hebert was a person of high integrity and had strong moral values for the love of God and family. They said her love and respect for others was felt by all who came in contact with her. She loved all as they were, not according to how society may have wanted them to be. Franklinton man dies in Folsom wreck FOLSOM - A Franklinton man was killed instantly yesterday morning when the truck he was driving slammed into an out-of-control Ryder truck on Louisiana Highway 25 just south of Folsom. Othello Clark, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that took place at about 7:30 a.m. near Willie Road, which is approximately three miles south of town. According to the State Police report, Oree Jenkins, 34, also of Franklinton, was driving a rented moving truck northbound when he slammed on his brakes to avoid rear-ending a car that had slowed to make a right turn. The rental truck spun into the southbound lane, where Clark's 1987 Toyota pickup truck rammed into it, crushing the pickup's cab and killing Clark upon impact. Jenkins, who was uninjured, reportedly passed a sobriety test. He was booked with negligent homicide and careless driving. Betty Jean Taylor Riley (Died Aug. 2, 2002) LENOIR CITY, TN - Betty Jean Taylor Riley, 61, very peacefully and unexpectedly passed away Aug. 2, at her home in Lenoir City. She was a former long-time resident of Bogalusa, LA. Her family made the decision to donate her organs and tissues. The remainder of her body was donated to the Anthropology Research Center at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is survived by a beloved daughter, Tonya Riley, and her companion, K. Carroll of Machias, ME; her former husband, Bo Riley and his companion, Brenda Chance of Bogalusa; one sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Hershel Westmoreland of Franklinton, LA; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Donna Taylor of Bogalusa; three nieces and their spouses, Dewanna and Edgar Pounds, Delane and Bo Gatlin, and Denise and Mark Menard; four nephews and their spouses, Karon and Debby Breland, Turhan and Gwen Breland, Glenn and Annette Westmoreland and Chris Taylor; two aunts, Athalee Rayborn and Lexie Jenkins; and numerous great and great-great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty and Bo had one birth child; but family members said there are many people who found the couple special enough to think of as "adoptive" parents. Riley's family said she considered all these close friends her "children" and "grandchildren." "Our 'Mom' was always helping someone or doing something for somebody," an adopted daughter said. "She was always a hard worker. Now, even in death, Betty can and will continue this legacy." She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Donnie Taylor; her sister, Doris Jarrell; and her in-laws, Steve and Hazel Riley. No funeral service will be held, but when Riley's daughter, returns to Bogalusa to visit, a memorial service will be held. Mildred Brock Magee (Died August 7, 2002) FRANKLINTON - Mildred Brock Magee, 92, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:20 p.m. yesterday in her home. She was a member of the Clifton Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and pianist. She, along with her late husband John H. Magee, were founders of the Washington Parish Activity Center. Amy Talbert Crain (Died August 5, 2002) CLINTON, LA - Amy Talbert Crain, 94, a native of East Feliciana Parish, died at 2:30 a.m. yesterday at Clinton Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. A former resident of LaPlace and Franklinton, she was most recently a resident of Clinton. She joined the Progressive Chapter No. 115 OES in 1949, was Worthy Matron in 1959, and has been affiliated with Noble Queen Chapter No. 45 since 1974. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklinton and the widow of Donies W. Crain. Survivors include a brother, Delos Talbert of Texas; two sisters, Edna T. Smith of Clinton and Eunice Talbert of Amite; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a committee chairman for the ASCS/Farm Services Aid Committee for Washington Parish for nearly 40 years.
