He was assistant advisor of Bogalusa Explorer Troop No. 785, Boy Scouts of America, and a member and past officer of Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 1773 in Bogalusa. Talmadge Talley (Died Nov. 25, 2002) ZACHARY, LA - Talmadge Talley, 79, a native of Isabel and retired paper mill operator and foreman, died last Monday at his residence in Zachary. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gilda G. Born to Margaret Rudolph Sartin and the late Charles E. Sartin Feb. 2, 1955, as a youth she joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Tom Bailey. She later joined New Triumph Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Jacob Sartin Jr. A 1973 graduate of Bogalusa High School, she received an associate degree in business from Meadow Draughn College and trained as a licensed practical nurse at Louisiana Technical College-Sullivan Campus. She was employed by Southeastern Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville. He was a retired electrician with Gulf Oil Corporation, and a charter member and deacon of Victory Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. Dean moved back to Bogalusa to live with his oldest daughter in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Valentine Holliday of Farmerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Danna and Sammy Vaughn of El Dorado, AR; a son and daughter-in-law, Shannon Cody and Anita Holliday of Farmerville; two grandchildren, Geoffrey and Baylee Vaughn; a step-granddaughter and her husband, Jessica and Richard Pittman; four step-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alex, Ian and Ewan Pittman; six brothers, Ralph Holliday of Mt. Hermon, Farrell Holliday and his wife Bonnie of Franklinton, Randel Holliday and his wife Nelda of Jackson, Bruce Holliday and his wife Mamie of Clinton, Daniel Holliday andhis wife Betty Lou of Franklinton and Leroy Holliday and his wife Sue of Tullos; three sisters, Clara Jean Bennett and her husband Louie of Clinton, Lia McMillan and her husband Hewitt of Magnolia, MS, and Betty Crosby of Bogalusa; his mother-in-law, Mary Valentine of Zachary; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends; and a special pet, Fritzi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Blanche Miller Holliday; and a brother, Roy C. Holliday. Visitation will be held today at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. David Pate officiating, assisted by the Rev. Phillip Farris. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norman McMillan, Wayne Holliday, Randel Holliday Jr., Jody Holliday, Matt Milton and Ricky Milton. Honorary pallbearers include Ben Bush and Brady Milton.
