Freddie Mae James (Died April 22, 2003) FRANKLINTON n Freddie Mae James, 84, a native of Mt. Hermon and a resident of Charlie Conerly Road in Mt. Hermon, died Tuesday, in Riverside Medical Center. She was a descendent of several Washington Parish pioneer families and the widow of the late Robert L. "Bob" Landry, who was involved in the newspaper industry in Washington and St. Tammany parishes for over six decades. She attended business college, worked for the WPA, Harrison Wood Products, Wade Tung Oil Co., and Cassidy and Wade Construc-tion, and was a member of the Ingleside Symposium, St. Matthews Episcopal Church and First Baptist Church of Bogalusa. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Dixie M. McGehee; 11 nieces and nephews, William and Marie McGehee, Robert and Doris McGehee, Jimmy R. and Rossie McGehee, Jerry D. McGehee, J. David Mc-Gehee, Michael and Cynthia McGehee, Bryan McGehee, all of Bogalusa, and Martha E. Johnston of Picayune, MS. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert L. David Albert Bullock (Died April 23, 2003) COVINGTON n David Albert Bullock, 83, a lifelong resident of Franklin-ton, died Wednesday in Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga. An electrical contractor and proprietor of Franklinton Electrical Service for over 50 years, he was past-master of Frank-linton Masonic Lodge No.101 F&AM and a member of Franklinton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery. Theresa Russo Bourgeois (Died April 17, 2003) ABBEVILLE, LA n Theresa Russo Bourgeois died last Thursday in Abbeville. She was born Sept. 19, 1919 in Abbeville. She was a schoolteacher for 28 years in the Vermillion, Washington, Bogalusa and St. Tammany school systems where she believed in being a strict disciplinarian. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1935. She received a teaching certificate in 1937 from Dom-inican College in New Orleans, and earned a Bachelor's of Administra-tion degree from South-western Louisiana Institute in 1957. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cards and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Ashton "Paddy" Bourgeois; a daughter, Janice Bourgeois Macomber; a son, Paul Ashton Bourgeois Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Rester Bourgeois; a sister, JoAnn Russo; two brothers, Raymond "Kothie" Russo and William C. She was the wife of the late Robert Briggs Sr., the mother of Larry Williams, Fred Williams, Rodney Williams, Archie Williams, Robert Briggs and Ronnie Briggs; the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dyson Williams; and sister of Attie Cutrer, Viola Watson and Wilkie Lee Haynes. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Linnie Keys (Died March 29, 2003) BOGALUSA n Linnie Keys, 84, a native and resident of Bogalusa died Saturday. Born May 2, 1918, in Bogalusa to James Smith and Rose Fairchild, she was united in holy matrimony to Able Keys in 1942. They became the proud parents of six children and raised two others. She joined with Second Baptist Church while under the leadership of the Rev. Green. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Elizabeth Long of New Orleans, and Nellie Mae Sandifer of Oakland, CA; a sister-in-law, Nellie Thompson of Taylorville, MS; three daughters, Linda Keys of Bogalusa, Celestine Keys of Chicago, Il, and Able Jean Fry of Chicago; three sons, Jerrode Keys of Bogalusa, Ray Lawrence Keys of Houston, and Alvin Keys of Chicago; two godsons, James and Lamar Culpepper; a special friend, Clair Lopez; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Henry Smith, James Smith, Paul Smith, R.S. Smith, Lester Smith, and Johnny Smith; a sister, Juanita Jones; and two sons, Ollie and Brian Keys. Bass Simmons (Died March 18, 2003) JACKSONVILLE, NC n Jean E. Bass Simmons, a native of Bogalusa was born to eternal life March 18 while residing in Jacksonville. During her marriage to Charles Simmons, she raised her three sons in Atlanta, GA, where she also enjoyed a successful career at Wachovia Bank. Simmons was the loving mother of Keith, Kreg (Jody) and Derek (Kim) Simmons and very proud grandmother of Samantha, Matthew, Justin and Christopher Simmons. She is also survived by her twin, Joan Starns; sister, Cheri (George) Vie; brother, Jan Bass; and fond uncle, Lawrence Murphy. She was a very special mother-in-law to Julie Odenbrett, and will be remembered and missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gladys Bass. He was a millwright for Gaylord Container for 49 years and a veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Legion Magic City Post No. 24 and Memorial Baptist Church.
