All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Katherine Parker Evans (Died May 29, 2003) NORWALK, CT - Katherine Parker Evans, 78, a native of Osyka, MS and a longtime resident of Norwalk, died May 29 in the Norwalk General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was actively involved in community service, Eastern Stars, and foster parenting until her health deteriorated. An active charter member of the New Caanan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Herman Ball and now under the leadership of the Rev. Roosevelt Ewell, she served as a deaconess and a member of the Senior Mission at the church. Survivors include her daughters, Alberta K. (Shelley) Pace of Hartford, CT, and Janet K. (Alex) Williams of Norwalk; three granddaughters. Lolita and Allison Pace of Hartford, and Alexa Williams of Norwalk; two grandsons, Sterling (Kim) Pace and Corey Pace, all of Hartford; three sisters, Melinda (Joe) Griffin of Jackson, MS, Dorothy (Ardee) Rose of Kannapolis, NC, and Hazel P. Norris of Bogalusa; a brother, Leroy (Mary Jane) Dyson of Tucson, AZ; a sister-in-law, Juanita M. Parker of Iowa, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Charlie (Adrienne Simmons) Parker Sr.; stepmother, Fannie Richardson Parker; four brothers, John, Charlie, and Robert Parker, all former resident of Bogalusa, and Herbert Parker, formerly of Bronx, NY; three sisters, Idelia P. Williams, formerly of Bogalusa; Ethel P. Sutton and Josephine P. Moore, both former residents of Brooklyn, NY. Visitation will be held tomorrow at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa from 2-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Nathaniel officiating. Repast will be held at the church fellowship hall following the interment. Hilton Hart (Died May 30, 2003) WALTHALL COUNTY, MS - Hilton Hart, 72, a resident of Cage Hart Road in Franklinton, died May 30 in Walthall County after a lengthy illness. He was a builder for Bill Blyburn Construction Co. Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Ora Lee Hart of Franklinton; two sons, Rev. Douglas E. Hart of Franklinton, and Rev. Lawrence Hart of Shreveport; four daughters, Carolyn Hart of Atlanta, GA, Marilyn Magee of Franklinton, Sandra Faye Manning of baton Rouge, and Sheral R. Hart of Baton Rouge; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward Hart and Cloteal Hart; a daughter; and a sister. Visitation will be held tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Franklinton and will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerome Warren will officiate at the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Magee, Christopher Hart, Derrick Dillon, Hilton Jermane Magee, Sheldon Hart, and Ardrain Hart. Gill Funeral Home of Tylertown is in charge of arrangements. Geraldine Thomas Nielson (Died June 4, 2003) PINE - Geraldine Thomas Nielson, 70, a resident of the Pine community, died yesterday afternoon in her home. She was the widow of Estes Nielson, a member of Stateline Baptist Church, and attended Central Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny and Kaye Nelson of Pine, and Randy Nielson and Benny Nielson, both of Hackley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Candy Dillon, Jerry and Ginger Nelson, and Cassi Nelson; and two great-grandchildren, Cherish and Cole Dillon. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband was a son, Jimmy Nielson. Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home today from 6-10 p.m. and will continue after 9 a.m. tomorrow until time of the funeral service, to be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. The Elds. Doyle Ball and Don Jacobs will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Duncan Nielson Cemetery.
