She was an avid reader and a member of JOY Christian Home-makers Class of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Dykes and Damon Paul McCrory; two grandchildren, Grant and Leigh McCrory; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sammy and Wynell Lively of Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Marlene Duncan of Crosby, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Dykes; her mother, Sherley Saxon Paul; her father, Robert Elzie Paul; and a sister, Marion Paul Cooper. Visitation will be at Parkview Baptist Church Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at the church at 10 a.m. The Rev. Ron Tyndall will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Lee's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Bobby Ready and Tyndall will officiate at the service. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Williams, Joe Ard Williams Jr., Christopher Williams, Brad Lively and Lavelle Watt. Renaissance Services, Inc. of Gonzales is in charge of arrangements. Shirley Mae Quillen May (Died May 16, 2003) COVINGTON n Shirley Mae Quillen May, 62, a native of Bogalusa and a resident of Angie, died Friday in St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was an employee at the Bogalusa Social Security Office where she worked as a claims representative. She also served as a board member for the Washington Parish Council on Aging and was a member St. John Temple Church of God in Christ. She is survived by her husband, Harline May of Angie; two daughters, Vanessa (Tommy) Tyson and Petrina (Thomas) Hartley, all of Bogalusa; five sons, Julius Quillen and James (Jennifer) Quillen of Houston, Texas, Edwin Quillen of New Orleans, Eld. Malcolm (Vanessa) Quillen of Atlanta, GA, and Terence May of Angie; her mother, Willie Mae Quillen of Bogalusa; three grandchildren whom she was raising, Jennifer Courtney, and Ashley May; a great-grandson who she was raising, Harlan May; five stepchildren, Alice May Harry of Bogalusa, Lorraine (Michael) Sampson of Angie, Ellis May, Sylvester May, and Bobby Peters of Bogalusa; 27 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Josephine (Robert) Brewer of San Francisco, CA, Mary Jackson and Dr. Barbara (Eld. Oliver) Humbles of Baton Rouge, Carolyn (Jack) Wingo of Houston, Patricia (Wilton) Badon, and Gloria Quillen of Bogalusa; two brothers, Eld. Amel (Velma) Quillen and Fred (Susie) Quillen of Houston; a special brother-in-law, Monroe May Jr. of Angie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Amel Quillen Sr.; her grandfather, Joe Garner; and a stepdaughter, Dorothy May. Visitation will be held tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home from 3-6 p.m. A wake service will be held tomorrow at St. John Temple Church of God in Christ, 1126 N. Roosevelt St., Bogalusa from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at noon at the church with Eld. Bobby Ray Brown and Bishop Howard E. Quillen officiating.
