He was a retired truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Nell Rogers Luper of Covington; two sons, Henry Clay Fricke, Jr. of Covington and Andrew Bernard Fricke of Franklinton; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad, Sr. and Ola Garner Luper; and two brothers, Claude Luper and Carl Luper. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tom Kerry officiating. Pallbearers were Robbie Rogers, David Huval, Gaberial Luper, Lucas Luper, Steve Bradford, Estus Luper, Jerry McCain and Allen McCain. Interment was in the Poplarhead Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 04-02-2003 Annie Mae Whitehead Crain, Crain’s Creek Community Annie Mae Whitehead Crain, 89, a resident of the Crain’s Creek Community, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Rutter Rex. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Hilry Flynt of Franklinton and Evelyn and Willie Breland of Bogalusa; a son and daughter-in- law, Charles Ray and Anna Bell Crain of Crain’s Creek Community; eight grandchildren, Herbert Durwood Seals, Phyllis Whitfield, Jauan Ramshur, Faith Ann Kieffer, Lisa Killens, LaRinda Breland, Brad Breland and Casey Crain; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Richard Crain and Walter Roy Crain. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Willlie J. Passman, Eld. Doyle Ball and Eld. Clyde Cooper officiating. Pallbearers were Harlan Gerald, Calvin Smotherman, Charles Williams, Kendal Crain, Aubrey Jones and Richard Crain. Interment was in the War Crain Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 04-02-2003 Lizzie Passman Thompson, New Orleans Lizzie Passman Thompson, 85, a native of Washington Parish and longtime resident of New Orleans, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Kenner Regional Medical Center. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Julia Jenkins; two grandchildren, James R. Jenkins and Millison Jenkins; and a great-granddaughter, Jaime Lynn Jenkins, all of Avondale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Thompson; a son, James Ronald Jenkins, Sr., brothers and sisters, Exie Passman, Joe Passman, Ansil Passman, Rosa Rhoner, Lucie Seal, Johny Passman and Luther Passman. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Thursday, March 27 until time for a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Michael Langridge officiating. Pallbearers were James R. Jenkins, Butch Passman, Glenn Passman, Daniel Passman, Denver Populis and Joe Tardo. Interment was in the Stoney Point Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 04-02-2003 Donald Delos Quin, Bonner Creek Community Donald Delos Quin, 92, a resident of Bonner Creek Community, died at his residence on Friday, March 28, 2003. He was a faithful and dedicated leader in the Bonner Creek Baptist Church. He served as chairman of the board of deacons, Sunday School superintendent, chairman of upkeep of buildings and grounds, and on various committees. The church fellowship was built by his plans and under his leadership. He maintained the Bonner Creek Cemetery. One of his fellow deacons described him as a dedicated Christian, always ready to be of service to god ad his fellowman. He was proud to have been a Mason for over 60 years. His civic duties included many years of volunteer work at the Mile Branch Settlement. He will be remembered by many as a building contractor building many houses in Washington Parish and surrounding areas. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, sue and Leo Macias of Franklinton; two grandchildren, Dr. Dewitt and Mary Bateman, Jr. and Angela and Dr. Thomas Heigle, all of Baton Rouge; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Jonathan and Benjamin Bateman; Sarah and Christopher Heigle, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Jessie Quin Selma of Watson; and two brothers, James Quin of Bogalusa and Max Quin of Denham Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bessie Thomas Quin; his parents, Frank and Lela Welch Quin; two brothers, Jack Quin and Frank Quin; and two sisters, Nell Quin Magee and Gladys Quin McClendon. Visitation was a Crain Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued after 9 a.m. Monday, March 31 at Bonner Creek Baptist Church until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Floyd Cheek and Dr. Gene Richards officiating. Active pallbearers were Jerry Quin, Wallace Quin, Larry Quin, Terry Quin, Billy Magee and Lamar Crocket. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Sandifer, Denson Miller and Selman Corkern. Interment was in the Bonner Creek Cemetery.
