She is survived by a son, William Phillip Bateman of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosamond and Louis Nicolosi of Plaquemine, Ruth and Allen Crowe of Jonesborough, TN, and Donna and Don Kilboune of Clinton; a brother, James Baham of Franklinton, a sister, Jessie Baham Penton of Bogalusa; grandchildren; Rachel Nicolosi, Sharla and Mike Bond, David Madison Nicolosi, Louis Nicolosi, Jr., Don and Marielle Larson, Kathy and John Hood, Andrea and Ken Schultz, Craig Larson, Kristal Bateman, Beth and Todd Foust; step-grandchildren; David Crowe and Sharon Collins; great-grandchildren; Greyson Bond, Kristina Larson, Rebeka Larson, John David Hood, Shayne Shultz, Kathleen Shultz, Madison Foust, and Gabriell Foust; step-great-grandchildren; Christopher Collins and Zachary Collins. She was preceded in death by her husband Madison E. Bateman; her parents, Phillip and Fannie Bankston Baham; a sister, Viola Baham Moody and a grandchild, Lisa Lamont Nicolosi. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday. Visitation continued after 10 a.m. Saturday, at Clifton Baptist Church until the funeral services at 11 a.m. with Lt. Col. Don Larson officiating. In lieu of flowers family donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Pallbearers were Craig Paul Larson, David Madison Nicolosi, Louis Joseph Nicolosi Jr., Todd Foust, David Crowe and Nelson Bateman Johnson. Boyd, Franklinton Alton E. Boyd, 79, a native of Mississippi and a resident of Franklinton, died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a retired boilermaker. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Lee Smith, Sr., of Franklinton; three grandchildren, Mechele and Stacy Dickerson, David Lee Smith, Jr. Chasity and Joseph Busacker of Wahpeton, ND; four great-grandchildren, LeeAnn and Lauren Dickerson, Casey and Hunter Busacker; and two brothers, George Boyd of Jayess, MS and James Boyd of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernettie Reid Boyd; a son, Jewel Ray Boyd; a sister, Fredna Bagwell; four brothers, Willis, John, Eugene and Hemby Boyd; two half sisters, Loucious Brown and Carrie Brown; and two half brothers, Hollis and Cliff Boyd. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pat Miller officiating. Pallbearers were David Lee Smith Sr., David Lee Smith Jr., Stacy Dickerson, Joseph Busacker, Terrell Coon and Wade Boyd. Interment was in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Jayees, MS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 04-23-2003 Marvin J. “Toby” Magee, Baton Rouge Marvin J. “Toby” Magee, 80, a native of Sunny6 Hill and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 in Baton Rouge. He was a retired employee of Formosa Plastics in Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Masonic Lodge #435, an avid gardener and fisherman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Lou Magee of Baton Rouge; a sister, Adelle M. Alford of Baton Rouge and a brother, Robert J. Magee of Franklinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin J. Magee and Pearl Parker Magee; brothers, Theodore J. “Joe” Magee, D.D. “Sleepy” Magee, Leslie V. “Red” Magee, Willis D. “Bill” Magee, Hubert L. “Eli” Magee, Frank C. Magee; and a sister, Kathleen M. Johnson. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge with interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family preferred memorial donations to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
