She was a former speech therapist with the Lafayette Parish School Board. She is survived by her husband, Edward Causey Burch of Lafayette and formerly of Mt. Hermon and Richardson communities; two sons, David Edward Burch of Lafayette and Stephen Lee Burch of Lewisville, TX; six grandchildren, Daniel Burch, Benjamin Burch, Sharayah Burch and Stephen Lee Burch, Jr., all of Lewisville, TX and Seth Burch and Hollis Burch both of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry Francis and Carra Lea Davis Boyer. Her husband's parents are the late Wilson E. Burch and Claude Miller Burch of Franklinton. Visitation was from 3 pm until 9 pm on Monday and from 8 am to service time at 10 am on Tuesday at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Sterling Miller officiating. Pallbearers were Tracy Debusk, David Debusk, Jeff Robin, Richard LeBeouf, Shane Bernard, and Frank Meyer III. Interment was in the Fountain Memorial Gardens. Gladys McMillan Brock, Franklinton Gladys McMillan Brock, 97, a resident of Franklinton, died at 6 pm Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was the widow of Melvin Brock and a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter Georgia Nicholson of Chattanooga, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Alice Brock of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Vernell Tucker of Tallahassee, FL and Mavis Stroble of Albuquerque, NM; 9 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great- grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Pansy B. Toney and Betty Gill; a granddaughter, Rosemary Toney; her parents, Henry and Essie McMillan; and 7 brothers and sisters. Visitation was at 1 pm Thursday until time for funeral services at 2 pm in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home with Rev. John Gilbert officiating. Pallbearers were Kevin Taylor, Stephen Taylor, James Toney, J. R. Taylor, Jimmy Gill and Mike Brock. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Dora Knight Penton McCain, Mt. Hermon Dora Knight Penton McCain, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 3:15 pm July 2, 2003 at Riverside Medical Center. She was a retired cook at Ms. Barber's Café and the widow of N. J. Goat McCain. She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Johnny and Deborah Dykes of Franklinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Leoda Penton of Mt. Hermon and Jerry and Rosa Penton of Franklinton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pauline and Carl Amour of Tickfaw, Darlene and Charles Anthony of Tickfaw, and Dorthy Gerhold of New Orleans; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dennis and Lisa Knight of Kenner, J. W. and Gayle Knight of Tickfaw and Thomas Knight of Tickfaw; nine grandchildren, Richard and Patrick Dykes, Wanda Guyllette, Shelia Durden, Craig Penton, Sherry, Kerry, Jeremy and Rhonda Penton; 14 great-grandchildren, Megan, Callie, Summer, Harley, Haley, Lander, Kayla, Josh, Michael, Hunter, Trinity, Kimberly, Donovan and Brandon; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Edith Anthony Knight; two brothers, Dan Knight and Richard Knight; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Margaret Knight; two grandchildren, Devon Penton and Shelia Dykes; one great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nicole Guyllette. Visitation was held at Crain's Funeral Home. The funeral service was held in the chapel at 11 am Saturday, July 5th. Eld Ted Phillips and Eld. J. W. Graves officiated the services. Pallbearers were Richard and Patrick Dykes, Craig Penton, Jeremy Penton, Cliff Durden, and Warren Boersma. Honorary pallbearers were Jody Guyllette and Carl (Tank) Armour. Burial was in the Nobles Cemetery at Pine. Laetta Bush Adams, Isabel Community Laetta Bush Adams, 94, a resident of the Isabel Community, died at 10:45 am Friday, July 11, 2003 at Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of True Light Baptist Church and the widow of McCauley Adams. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rosalie and Leon Hickman of Franklinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn Dennis and Wilene Adams of Crossett, AR; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren ; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carliss Adams; a daughter, Agnes Voth Gill; two grandsons, Donice and Billy Holiday and three brothers and four sisters. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 pm until 9 pm Sunday and after 9 am Monday. A funeral service was held at 11 am Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Pallbearers were Ben Voth, Kevin Voth, Nick Adams, Adam Grantham, Kevin Magee and Chris Hickman. Interment was in the Adams Family Cemetery. Willie D. Singley, Angie Willie D. Singley, 88, a resident of Angie, LA died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at LSU Medical Center in Bogalusa. He was a member of Monroe Creek Baptist Church and Pine Lodge #264. He was a retired Paper Mill employee. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evie Kennedy Singley of Angie; a son and daughter-in-law, John E. Singley and Joyce of Bogalusa; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary M. and Richard P. Williams Sr. of Angie; a sister, Estelle Woodward and brother-in-law Clyde of Angie; a daughter-in-law, Faye Singley; grandsons, Dewayne Williams and wife, Charlene Williams of Angie, Michael A. Williams and wife Marcey of Carey, North Carolina, Richard P. Williams and wife Sarah of Angie, Brandon Singley and wife Kay of Angie and Kevin Singley and wife Kasey of Bogalusa; a granddaughter, Summer Singley of Bogalusa; five great-granddaughters, Christina McMillan, Kelli Williams of Angie, Vivian Williams of Angie, Rosemary Williams of Cary, North Carolina and Katelyn Singley of Bogalusa; a great-grandson, Scott McMillan of Angie; and three grandsons, Jacob Williams of Angie, Nicholas Williams of Cary, North Carolina and Wade Singley of Angie. He was preceded in death by a son, Willie Fay Singley. Visitation was held Monday in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 4 pm until 10 pm with a Masonic Service held at 7 pm. Visitation continued Tuesday from 8 am until time for services. A funeral service was held at 11 am in the chapel of the funeral home with Eld. Tommy McNaire, Elder R. J. Kennedy and Eld. Rodney Graham officiating. Interment was in the Seal Cemetery at Stateline. Catherine Jones Corkern, Enon Catherine Jones Corkern, 88, a resident of Enon, died late Thursday, July 10, 2003 at her residence. She was the beloved companion of George Trevinio. She was also a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sharon Dubard of Baton Rouge; two grandsons, Robert and Michael Dubard; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Corkern. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 8 pm Saturday. Visitation continued at Enon Baptist Church after 12:30 pm Sunday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm at Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Harry McIntyre officiating. Pallbearers were Vic Jones, Gary Jones, Robert Dubard, Michael Dubard, Jim Richardson and Danny Knight. Interment was in the church cemetery.
