McLaurin, 84, a resident of Franklinton, died at 5:35 am Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the widow of Joseph A. McLaurin. She was an active member for over 50 years with the Noble Queen #45 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carter and Cheryl Laurin (?McLaurin) of Franklinton; a granddaughter, Mallery McLaurin of Franklinton; a grandson, Jeremiah McLaurin of Franklinton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Charline McElveen of Franklinton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Alice Foil McElveen; three brothers, Robert, Allison and D. L. McElveen; and two sisters, Aline McElveen Crain and Maxine McElveen Sumrall. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm Thursday and after 8 am Friday. A funeral service was held at 11 am Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jerry Barlow and Rev. Jerry Cox officiating. Pallbearers were Richard McElveen, Jimmy McElveen, Jerry Crain, Dee Dee Foil, Jeremiah McLaurin and Kevin Gaines. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Edith Duncan Brooks, Franklinton Edith Duncan Brooks, 52, a resident of Franklinton, died at 10 am Thursday, June 19, 2003 at her residence. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lora Brooks of Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Brad Ledet of Mandeville; two grandsons, Ryan and Justin Payne of Franklinton; six brothers, Monroe Duncan and Clevie Duncan, both of Mt. Hermon, Tommy Duncan of Jackson, LA, Jerry Duncan of Angie, Joda Duncan of Jasper, ARK. And Robert Duncan of Bogalusa; two sisters, Molly Ladner of Pine and Lavenia Lilly of Mt. Hermon; and her step-father, Robert Miller of Mt. Hermon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lona Slaven Duncan and two brothers, Woodrow Duncan and Elwood Duncan. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 10 pm Saturday and after 10 am Sunday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers were Robert Samuel Duncan, Dale Duncan, Billy Wayne Spears, Dewayne McNeese, Donnie Ladner and Glenn Duncan. Interment was in the Maples Cemetery at Mt. Hermon. Henry W. Gay, Franklinton Henry W. Gay, 68, a resident of Franklinton died at 4:40 pm Friday, June 13, 2003 at his residence. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of the Mt. Zion United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Tim and Linda Gay of Franklinton; a step-daughter and spouse, Kim and Mike Petre of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Timothy Lamar Gay of Tacoma, WA, William Warren "Bill" Gay of Bush, Tina Lynn Williams and Henry Timothy "TJ" Gay both of Franklinton; 12 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Eloise Dillon of Franklinton; two half sisters; and an aunt, Ernestine Alexander of Panama City, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Gay. Visitation was at the Crain Funeral Home from 6 pm until 9 pm Sunday and after 10 am Monday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Hickman and Rev. W. L. Tullos officiating. Pallbearers were Lamar Gay, Bill Gay, T. J. Clarence Tate Sr., Franklinton Clarence Tate Sr., 85, a resident of Franklinton, died Saturday, June 14, 2003 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Waver Tate of Franklinton; three sons, Clarence Tate Jr., James E. Tate both of Franklinton and John Tate of Mary Ester, FL; four daughters, Evelyn Bickham, Brenda Gatlin, Rene Brumfield and Rene Tate all of Franklinton; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Senie Magee Tate, a son, four brothers and one sister. Visitation was at Ginn Funeral Home in Tylertown, MS on Friday from 1-5 pm. A funeral service was held at 1 pm Saturday, June 21 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Johnnie Causey officiating. Interment was in the Wilson Cemetery. Ollie Mae Bounds Kelley, Angie Ollie Mae Bounds Kelley, 69, a resident of Angie, died at 8:23 pm Sunday, June 15, 2003 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle and the widow of Robert L. Kelly. She is survived by three grandchildren, Howard Richard Hanson IV of Pine, Ronda Burkhalter of Purvis, MS, and Regina Lyons of Lumberton, MS; eight great-grandchildren, Ann Hanson, Richard Hanson, Robert Hanson, Ashley Hanson all of Pine, Bridggett Burkhalter and Marc Burkhalter both of Purvis, MS, Gina Lyons and Angel Lyons both of Lumberton, MS; and a brother, Charlie Bounds of Thomas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lanell Hanson; a great-grandson, Timmothy Lyons; and two sisters, Elizabeth Bertucci and Maggie Ortego. Visitation was after 5 pm Tuesday at Faith Tabernacle Church until time of funeral service at 11 am Wednesday at the church with Rev. Jerry Cox and Rev. Aaron Cox officiating. June Varnado McDaniel, Stoney Point Community June Varnado McDaniel, 78, a resident of Stoney Point Community, died at 1:40 am Monday, June 16, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of Glenn McDaniel. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Sandra McDaniel of Franklinton; four grandchildren and spouses, Jena and Barry Cain, Kelli McDaniel all of Richland, MS, Traci and Allen Osborn and Stephen and Nicole Parker all of Brandon, MS; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Varnado of Franklinton; four sisters, Pearl Walker of Franklinton, Joann Miley, Sandra Smith both of Bogalusa and Peggy Fairburn of Tylertown, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry McDaniel. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 pm until 10 pm Monday and after 8 am Tuesday. Bankston, Mark Waskom and Ricky Russell. Interment was in the Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Nell Painter Carter, Mt. Hermon Nell Painter Carter, 84, a resident of Mt. Hermon died at 8 am Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and the widow of Emmett Carter. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Glynn Morgan of Franklinton; a granddaughter, Gwyn Gober of Franklinton; two great-grandchildren, Jeffery Gober and Heather Gober; and a brother, Cecil Painter of Franklinton. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Morgan; a brother, Norman Painter; and three sisters, Elmer Schilling, Elvie Booty and Audie Gill. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm Wednesday and after 9 am Thursday. A funeral service was held at 11 am Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Joe Baugh and Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Painter, Donald Painter, Earl Gill, Jimmy Schilling, Keith Schilling, and Tony Schilling. Interment was in the Carter Cemetery.
