Grant was a graduate of Enon High School near Franklinton and a graduate of University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. He had a love for the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with cars and building engines. He was an employee of Sperry Sun in Lafayette in the wire line Steering tool division and then worked his way into the multishot and gyro surveying. Later he switched into the directional drilling where he worked for Smith International, I.D.R. and Helmer, Inc. He later became a directional drilling consultant. He is survived by his fiancee, Linda Brown of Lafayette; his parents, Marne and Venna Magee Thompson of Bogalusa; four sisters and brothers- in-law, Linda and Johnny Squyres, Marnie and Bill Dover, Cathy and Mike Scott all of Baton Rouge, and Maida and Larry Smith of Glenmora, LA; and a brother, Merrick Thompson of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Thompson; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Josephine Magee; and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Catherine Thompson. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton from 5 pm until 9 pm and after 9 am Friday. A funeral service was held at 11:30 am Friday in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in the Isabel Baptist Church Cemetery near Franklinton. Pallbearers were Matt Fleming, Mitch Fleming, Pete Sullivan, Chris Hickman, Michael Tate and Richard Knight. Honorary pallbearers were Washington Parish Sheriff's Office and Franklinton Police Department. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Lillie Mae Spears Magee, Franklinton Lillie Mae Spears Magee, 62, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:45 am Monday October 6, 2003 at Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of E.L. "Jake" Magee. She is survived by two brothers, Earl Spears of Bogalusa and Glen Spears of Tylertown, MS; two sisters, Lois McMahan of Bogalusa, and Joyce Hooks of Bay St. Louis, MS; a sister-in-law, Kay Magee of Port Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Jenkins and Rosa Lee Magee. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 pm until 10 pm Tuesday. Visitation continued after 9 am Wednesday until time of the funeral service to be held at the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in the Roberts Cemetery near Sunnyhill. Pallbearers were Roger Barber, Jacob Walker, Darren Spears, Allen Pace, Bradley Pace and Darryl Pace. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Wayne Engerran, Tylertown Wayne Engerran, 60, a resident of Tylertown, died Sunday, October 5, 2003. He was born August 24, 1943 in Walthall County, MS and the son of the late Roland Joseph Engerran, Sr. and Lennie Millie Engerran. He was a manager of a retail store. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Roland Joseph Engerran, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Holliday Engerran of Tylertown; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Kelly Engerran of Tylertown; one step-brother Johnny Engerran of California; one step-sister, Kathy Engerran of California; and a brother-in-law, Larry Holliday of Tylertown. Visitation was Monday, October 6, from 6 until 8:30 pm at Hartman- Hughes Funeral Home in Tylertown. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bogue Chitto Cemetery in Warnerton with Rev. Troy Bankston officiating. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kenneth Ellis Lee, Franklinton Kenneth Ellis Lee, 62, a resident of Franklinton died at 3:30 pm Thursday, October 9, 2003 at his sister's residence in Franklinton. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran and a deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office. He is survived by a son, Ellis Lee of Dawson's Creek, BC, Canada; three grandchildren, Danielle, Alayna and Anthony Lee all of Dawson's Creek, BC, Canada; a sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Wayne Fleming of Franklinton; a niece and spouse, Mechelle and Scott Schilling of Naples, FL, two nephews, Matt and Mitch Fleming both of Franklinton; five stepchildren, Greg Sullivan, Danny Sullivan and Ronald "Pete" Sullivan all of Frandklinton, and Aubrey Sullivan of Alaska; 10 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elois Jones Lee and his parents, Ellis and Christine Lee. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm Saturday and after 12 noon Sunday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Hickman and Richard Knight officiating. Burial followed in the Ellis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles LeBlanc, Chris Meric, Hollis Adams, Russell Adams, Mike Phelps and Greg Adams. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Florence Booty Hill, Franklinton Florence Booty Hill, 79, a resident of Franklinton, died at 5:30 am Friday, October 10, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was the widow of Stanley Hill and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Franklinton. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Jimmy and Evelyn Hill of Franklinton; three grandchildren and spouses, Darlene and Robert Parks of Marrietta, GA; Darwin and Kim Hill of Greenwood, SC; and Donna and Richy Thomas of Denham Springs; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Lea Davis of Franklinton. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 10 pm Saturday and continued after 9 am Sunday at First United Pentecostal Church. A funeral service was held at the church at 11 am with Rev. Patrick Miller and Rev. W.L. Tullos officiating. Burial followed in the Stateline United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hill, Robert Parks, Jordan Parks, Daryl Hill, Phillip Berdette and Ritchy Thomas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Everett Virgil Miller, Bogalusa Everettt Virgil Miller, 83, a resident of Bogalusa died at 3:15 am Friday, October 10, 2003 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church and a retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy. He is survived by a daughter, Becky M. Coombs of Houston, TX; and a grandson, Joey L. Coombs of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis Thompson Miller. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 10 am Saturday until time of the funeral service at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. after 10 am Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
