Hermon Inez Varnado Alford, 88, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 11:25 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at Heritage Manor in Franklinton. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and the widow of Jeptha Alford. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy and Wyman Gill of Mt. Hermon and Susan Searcy of Amite; three grandchildren, Amy Bourgeois of Vicksburg, Cliff Search III and Robert Searcy, both of Amite; and several niece and nephews. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm Thursday and after 9 am Friday. A funeral service was held at 11 am Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial followed in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Wyman Gill, Daniel Gill, Cliff Searcy, Robert Searcy, Todd McDonald and Patrick Bourgeois. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Harold Fussell, Franklinton Harold Fussell, 77, a resident of Franklinton, died at 6:46 pm Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington. He was a retired Lieutenant of Louisiana State Police and a member of Fisher Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Varnado Fussell of Franklinton; two daughters and son-in-law, Jana Wood and Sherri and Earle R. Brown, all of Franklinton; three grandchildren, Emily Wood, JoAnna Wood and Barrett Brown, all of Franklinton; a sister, Jessie Lee Erwin of Franklinton; and a brother, Aubrey Fussell of Baton Rouge. He was preceeded in death by his parents, J.C. and Bessie Stafford Fussell; one sister, Velma Knight; and two brothers, James C. Fussell, Jr. and Louis Fussell. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday and after 10 am Friday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lyndel Bullard and Rev. Danny VonKanel officiating. Burial followed in the Morris Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robbie Brownm, Rodney Wood, Rick Wood, Karl Bedsole, Randy James and Larry Fussell. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Earline Smith Moak, Franklinton Earline Smith Moak, 46, a resident of Franklinton, died at her residence at 3:40 pm Thursday, October 23, 2003. She was an employee for Rutter Rex in Franklinton for many years. She is survived by her husband, David Joseph Moak, Sr. of Franklinton; a son, David Joseph (Joey) Moak, Jr. of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mandy and Lee Davis, Elizabeth Moak all of Franklinton and Felicia and Chris Forbes of Pine; grandchildren, Kimberlie and Will Davis, Dalton Forbes and Nicholas Moak; her mother, Carline T. Smith of Varnado; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Rhonda Smith of Varnado, Ed and Shirley Smith of Angie, and Kelly and Mary Smith of Pine; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Robert Robertson of Varnado and B.J. and Mike Stringer of Bogalusa; seven nieces; and six nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Smith. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 pm until 9 pm Friday and after 10 am Saturday. A funeral service was held at 2 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Burdette Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the Ellis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Josh Robertson, Dustin Stringer, Matt Stringer, Chad Smith, Ryan Smith and Peyton Knight. # # #
