Richard Lee Gray Jr.(Died March 24, 2001)ONTARIO, CA - Richard Lee Gray
Jr., 82, a resident of Ontario, CA died March 24 in his residence. He was a
former resident of Bogalusa. He played football for Bogalusa High School
under Coach Gary Dildy and is to be remembered as the "bare foot kicker."
He joined the Marines in 1937 and retired 20 years later. He was "Captain
of the Guards" of the Areo-Jet General at Downey, CA until his retirement.
He is survived by three sons, Gary, Theodore and Michael; a daughter,
Maureen; a sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Buford Perrette of
Bogalusa; three grandchildren; three nieces, Jo Alyn Thomas, Barbara Lee,
both of Bogalusa and Ethel Cucullu of Clinton, LA; and numerous nieces and
nephews.Preceding him in death was his wife, Geraldine; and his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Gray Sr.Interment was in the Military Cemetery in
Ontario, CA with military rights on March 26, 2001.Inland Memorial was in
charge of services.

of Enon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Hershe and Larry Oliver of Enon,
and Judy and the Rev. Jerry D. Wheat of Richmond, Texas; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Allen W. and Ann Provost of Pasadena, Texas, Joseph E.
Provost and Karen Ferguson of Hammond, IL, and Garland B. Provost of Enon;
13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren;
eight special nieces and nephews, Rowena and Rubel Jenkins of Covington,
Melvin and Mae Carpenter of Denham Springs, Dorlas and Tilmond Richardson
of Enon, and Juanita and Hansel Jenkins of Enon; two very special friends,
Ivan and Irma Jones of Enon; and a host of other nieces, nephews and
friends.He was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B.
and Juanita Jones, Hardy Provost, and Jessie and Aida Provost Jenkins; and

of New Orleans died Friday after a long illness. She is a retired professor
of education at Dillard University. Mrs. Greene was born in Biloxi, MS. She
moved to New Orleans as a child with her family. She graduated from
Straight College, which later became Dillard University and went on to earn
a master's degree at Columbia University in New York.She is survived by her
husband of 62 years, pioneering jazz musician, Jerome Gerold Greene; a son,
Jerome Gerold Greene Jr.; and three daughters, Ada Louisa Hannibal Greene,
Betty Mae Greene Gibson and Lyndia Ann Greene-Faust.The funeral service
will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923

American Club. She recently had St Joseph Altar dedicated to her. She is
retired from F. W. Woolworth in Bogalusa and was an employee at Estelle's
for many years.She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and
Verna Haik Jr. of Bogalusa; two sisters, Catherine Misita and Angeline
Klotz both of Metairie; a brother, Mike Fasola of Bogalusa; four
grandchildren, Timothy A. Haik of Franklinton, Victoria L. Haik and Stacey

member at Ben's Ford Christian School where he also coached basketball for
the past fourteen years.He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jenkins; a
daughter, Sheri Richardson; a son, John Jenkins, all of Bogalusa; three
grandchildren; a mother-in-law, Aline Williamson; a brother, Tillus Jenkins
of AR; and three sisters, Eva Nell Butcher of Sun, Vivian Hutchinson of
Ponchatoula and Merle Caillouet of Baton Rouge.Preceding him in death was
his father, John Tillus Jenkins; his mother, Wilmuth Jenkins; and a sister,

Louisiana. He practiced law for 49 years, was a charter member and deacon
of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he also served as director of music and
Sunday School teacher. He served as president of the Franklinton Chamber of
Commerce, the Washington Parish Fair Association and Washington Parish Bar
Association. Mr. Johnson was a member of American Bar Association, National
Probate Council, Rotary Club, Lions Club and the board of First State Bank.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in both theaters of
action.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Leah Ott Johnson; his
children, John Keller Johnson, Jeffery Adrian Johnson and Caroline Griffith
Johnson McKowen; and his grandchildren, Caroline Grace McKowen, Emmie Adele

Monday in Gulfport. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was
the retired owner of S&J Antiques in Gulfport.Survivors include his wife,
Judith S. Jones of Gulfport; a step-son, Craig Nicholls of Long Beach; a
step-daughter, Sarah Hahn of the St. Martin community in MS; and four step-
grandchildren.Visitation was held last Tuesday at Riemann Memorial Funeral
Home in Gulfport and the funeral service was conducted from the funeral
home chapel last Wednesday, followed by the burial in Biloxi National
Cemetery in Biloxi.

Anderson, 76, a resident of Bogalusa died Sunday after a three year
struggle with a rare form of Leukemia. Ray served in the U. S. Army in
France during WWII and continued with an exemplary military career with
various units of the U. S. Army Reserve with an accrued military experience
of 40 years. He retired from the U. S. Army Reserve at the rank of Chief
Warrant Officer W4 after holding that highest possible rank for over 20
years. He also simultaneously retired from his U.S. Federal Civil Service
Reserve Center after completing his 20 years in that position. Ray was a
devout Christian, constantly active in his church activities at Superior
Avenue Baptist where he contributed to many of its functions including
serving on the building committee, serving as a deacon, participating in
computerizing the various systems for the church, teaching Sunday school
and by offering his praise to the Lord via his resonant bass voice.Ray was
always involved in the support of his community and the surrounding area.
In the Ben's Ford area he tirelessly assisted the elderly with their
everyday needs. He participated in various functions associated with the
Ben's Ford Church where his parents and close neighbors were and are
members, and made possible expansions of those facilities via several land
transactions over the years. Ray did not want to "retire", so he along with
others with similar drives created the Bogue Lusa Water District to serve
the rural residents in the Ben's Ford area which provided centralized,
potable water and also helped reduce fire insurance rates. Not one to sit
back and relax, he joined with others to extend these kind, community-
oriented thoughts toward the creation of the Washington Parish Fire
Protection District 7 system where he served as a charter member and
secretary until his death. Ray was heavily involved in the activities of
the Masonic Lodge and Shriners organizations. He was a charter member of
the Bogalusa Lodge and a member of the Center and Varnado Lodges. He never
ceased to amaze others with his personal accomplishments but most of all
with his ability to assist others in achieving their goals and aspirations.
He strongly believed in the value of these organizations and continually
supported their causes and activities. He is survived by his children,
Barry Eugene Anderson of Raceland, LA and Stanley "Stan" Dale Andrerson of
Houston, TX; and his grandchildren, Bryon James Anderson, Christie Lynn
Anderson Dufrene, wife of Shannon Dufrene all of Raceland, LA and Molly
Melissa Anderson of Houston.Preceding him in death was his wife, Bertie J.
Keaton Anderson; a daughter, Sharon Aliyee Anderson DeJean; his father,
Byron J. Anderson; and his mother, Rosa M. Riley Anderson.Visitation will

consultant for communities seeking economic empowerment. She had just
completed her second book, An Urban I Con for Global Education. The
completion of this book was one of her proudest accomplishments. She was
