MS to Bogalusa. Widow was the former Elouise Herring. McMillan, Mrs. L. age 83, died Friday. Survivors: husband (age 96) & 5 children; L. L. "Lem" of Mobile, Jean, of Columbia MS, Emile, of Franklinton, Mrs. Vivian Babington of New Orleans & Mrs. A. C. Armstrong. Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cem. McNeese, Sidney age 88, died Saturday at Charity Hosp, New Orleans. Survivors: 7 sons John S. of Bogalusa, Louis of Hackley, Wiley A. & Prentiss both of New Orleans, Clarance & Ira of Crossroads MS, Ellis of Franklinton; 3 daus Mrs. Corine Breland of New Orleans, Mrs. Alice Hudson of Whitfield MS, & Mrs. Nora McCullough of Bastrop; 1 bro. George McNeese of Baxertville MS. Several grandchildren: J. E. "Skinney", Lat, Elmer, Oscar, Alton, Scrappy & C. E. McNeese. Mrs. Ruth Higginbotham is among the surviving nieces. Funeral services were at the home of John S. McNeese, interment at the Whittington Cem. 2 miles east of Mt. Sinai church. Partridge, Otto H. {article of interest} Mrs. Leila P. Fleming & Mrs. Florence Saunders, Pleasant Hill have located the missing brother of their late father, only to find he is dead, being buried along with his wife in Alaska. Before Capt. Raymond W. Saunders, son of the above mentioned lady, went to England, he was told to inquire about his great uncle Otto H. Partridge. He located a great aunt, Mrs. Evelyn Partridge now 81 years of age. She told him his uncle had long since moved to Alaska. Capt. Saunders wrote this to his mother here. This information was forwarded to A. V. Reviere, US Army, stationed in Alaska and he on inquiry found that the Mr. Partridge in question was dead, but he & his late wife were extremely well known. They had resided in the Yukon. Mr. Reviere visited their graves & secured a book which had been written about them "A Lady In The Wilderness" & presented Mrs. Fleming with a copy last Friday. Sequart, Mike age 74, died Friday. Relatives: Mr/Mrs. Willie Alford of Angie. Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cem. Feb. 19, 1945 Thomas, Corp. Andrew J. age 22, US Army, died Saturday on his 22nd birthday in Atlanta, son Mrs. Ettie Thomas & the late Andrew J. Thomas who died August 17, 1942. The deceased died as the result of a swimming accident Dec. 12, in Burma. He was born & reared in Washington Parish. His mother, a sister Melissa & bro. Ray I. Thomas drove to Atlanta and remained there until the end came. His body arrives in Bogalusa tonight on The Rebel. Feb. 26, 1945 Beale, Mrs. H. J. age 73, died at her home in Springfield LA Tuesday. Survivors: Mrs. Wallace Davidson of Bogalusa & Mrs. A. R. Slocum of Springfield. One grandson. Funeral services held at Springfield. Brandt, Linda age 6, died Baptist Hosp., New Orleans, Saturday, of injuries sustained when struck by a truck last Monday while en route from school to home. She was the only child of Mr./Mrs. Isadore Brandt, of New Orleans. Linda, was a niece of Mrs. S. Cohen of Bogalusa. Funeral services were held in New Orleans. Grimes, Harry T. age 43, died at Cheraw MS, Sunday. He resided in Bogalusa about 3 months, then moved to Cheraw a few months ago. He was a native of Bristol TN. He is the brother-in-law of Mrs. James Corban. His widow survives. Funeral services were held at Hopewell MS. Tyson, Henry Newton age 86, died Wednesday, after an extended illness. A resident of Plainview, he was the father of 9 children; 5 daughters residing at Franklinton & 1 son, Claude who resides at Baton Rouge. Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
