Talmadge R. age 21, US Navy aircraft pilot, died in the Hawaiian Islands, Dec. 28, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Christmas Day. He was born in New Orleans but moved to this city with the family at age 9. Survivors: mother Mrs. Sexton Gill of Bog, 1 sister Mrs. Mackie Lee Applewhite & a half-brother Richard Wayne Gill & half-sister Linda Gayle Gill. Wadsworth, John A. age 72, died in New Orleans Sunday morning. A former resident of this city & brother of the late D. W. Wadsworth. He was an uncle of Dan Wadsworth. Survivors: widow & 4 children. Funeral Tuesday at the Methodist Church in Covington with interment there. Jan. 7, 1946 Blanchard, A. V., Jr. age 18, died last Tuesday of accidental gunshot wound at the US Marine Base, Dover N.J. Born in New Orleans, he moved to Bogalusa when 4 yrs. old. Parents: Mr/Mrs A. V. Blanchard. Funeral Service at the Catholic church Tuesday, interment at St. Patricks Cem, New Orleans. G.F. Poole Funeral Home in charge. McMahon, Michael J., of New Orleans, age 75 died Friday of a heart attack. He was general traffic manager for Gaylord Container Corp. Funeral was held Saturday in New Orleans, interment in Galeton PA. Nicholas, Mrs. E. E., age 91, died Monday at her home on Oak St. She was a native of Chdnky MS. Survivors: 4 sons G. C., Will & Reuben Nicholas all of this city & Sidney of Tampa FL; 2 daus, Mrs. Al Land of Bog, & Mrs. Ella Renfrow of Jackson MS, 21 grandchildren & 34 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. Jan. 14, 1946 Delaughter, Henry J., age 62, killed last Wednesday in a traffic accident in Franklinton, were held Thursday ath the Franklinton Bapt. Church. Interment in the Morris Cem, with Poole-Simmons in charge. Willie, Mrs. Annie Daly, age 74 & native of New Orleans, died Friday in her New Orleans home. She was the wd/o the late Gus Willie. He & his wife had spent the Christmas holidays in Bog, at the home of his sister Mrs. C. M. McKay. Funeral in Widener, was attended by Mrs. McKay, her daughter Marjorie & Mr/Mrs C. M. McKay, Jr. Morris, Simeon V. age 89 resident of Bog. for the past 17 yrs, died at the home of his dau. Mrs. D. E. Fortenberry, on Friday. Jan. 21, 1946 Bickham, John, about age 45, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 17. He was a native of Franklinton & had been employed in Baton Rouge for the past 10 yrs. Funeral was held Friday at the Franklinton Bapt. Church, interment in Ellis Cem. Poole-Simmons in charge. Furr, Albert, age 57, died at his home in Mendenhall MS, Thursday of a heart attack. He was the uncle of Mrs. Harry W. Hoppen of Bog. Funeral was held Friday in Crystal Springs MS. Oldenburg, George Matthew, of New Orleans, died Thursday in New Orleans. He was a salesman for the Container division of Gaylord. Funeral service was held Friday at the Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp funeral home & interment in the Masonic Cem in New Orleans. Scott, Ivey E., age 52, native of New Orleans, died Sunday of injuries received in a traffic accident Saturday. He was the uncle of Mrs. S. L. Parker, Mrs. Jessie McGehee, Mrs. Ralph Alford & Walter Dutsch all of this community. It is believed he was enroute to Covington to visit with his wife when the accident occured. Funeral to be held Tuesday in New Orleans. Sullivan, Rev. W. M., age 84, died Friday in Magnolia MS. He had been in the ministry 52 years. He was the brother of Mrs. Nena Myers. Funeral was held at the Magnolia Methodist church on Saturday, with interment in Magnolia. Jan. 28, 1946 Correction: Survivors of the late John W. Crain who died last week were supplied incorrectly. Immediate survivors are the widow, 1 son H. E. Crain of New Smynra Beach FL, 1 dau. Mrs. Juanita Simmons of Bog, the mother Mrs. H. E. Funeral service was conducted on Wednesday with interment in the family cemetery in the Pine community. Memoriam: Criscoe, Lt. James Ransom, killed in the crash of a B-26 bomber Jan. 27, 1945, while on a training mission between Panama City & Apalachicola FL. A native of Washington Psh, he was the son of J. W. Sheffield, Mrs. Coren K, age 79, died Sun. Feb. 10th at the home of her son C. W. Sheffield of Bog. She was a native of Georgia, but resided in Bog. for the past 9 years. Rich, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth, age 81, died at her home in Gulfport MS on Friday. Born & reared at Poplarville, but well known to many Bog. citizens. Her husband preceded her to the grave by 10 yrs. She was the mother of 14 children, 8 of whom survive. There are 32 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral was at the First Bapt. Church in Poplarville on Friday & interment in the Poplarville Cem. Feb. 25, 1946 Dean, Mrs. Rosa H., age 65, born in Marion Co. MS, resident of Bog. for 33 yrs., died Sun. of pneumonia. Her husband preceded her in death 34 yrs. ago. Survivors: 1 son Webb Dean of Bog, 4 daus. Mrs. Corbett Mitchell, Mrs. T. H. Scroggs & Mrs. Arthur E. Feb. 25, 1946 Hunter, Mrs. Joseph C, died suddenly at her home in New Orleans on Sat. Her parents Mr/Mrs John V. Sporl, preceded her to the grave as did a brother George A. Funeral held at St. Francis of Assisi church in New Orleans on Sun. with interment in the Metairie Cem. Jenkins, Jacob M., age 72, lifelong resident of Sun, died Sunday at ESM Hosp. Born & reared in the Sun community, he was a member of the Morman church. Survivors: widow Mrs. Mattie Jenkins, 2 sons Houston Jenkins of St. Tammany Psh. & Nelson Jenkins of Sun, 1 dau. Knight, Jake, age 12 of the Thomas community, died Sunday at his home of an unusual accident. He was playing & placed some carbide in a bottle with water. The contents exploded & a glass fragment cut the internal juglar vein in his neck. The youth was brought to the local hospital where surgery & blood transfusions were performed but he sank deeper into shock and died about 40 minutes after arrival. Survivors: the father J. C. Knight, 8 bros, 2 sisters & 1 half-sister. Funeral was held Monday at the Thomas Cem. Brown Funeral Home in charge. March 4, 1946 Carrimo, Manuel, age 64, died Mon. at ESM Hosp. He was a pioneer resident of Bog, having came from Spain 35 yrs. ago. Funeral Tues., at Annunciation Catholic Church with interment in Ponemah Cem. Poole Funer al Home in charge. Delaughter, Mrs. Sally, age 77 of Enon, died Thur. Feb. 28th at WST. Hosp. A native of Wash. Psh. she is survived by her husband Dave Delaughter of Enon. Funeral held Fri. at Enon with interment in the Enon Cem. Poole Funeral Home in charge. Wells, Johnny, age 40, former resident of Bog, died Sun. March 3rd at a New Orleans hospital as the result of 1st, 2nd & 3rd degree burns suffered Sat. night or early Sun. morning, reportedly while warming himself over an open fire when clothes caught afire. The accident occured in the vicinity of Amite, & he died after being at the hospital for only 4 hours. Survivors: 3 bros. Chalmer & Fred Wells of Bog, & Herbert Wells of Poplarville, 2 sisters Mrs. Jennie Belle Breland of Bog, & Mrs. Mary McGehee of New Orleans. Funeral & interment held this afternoon at the Pounds Cem. Poole Funeral Home in charge. March 11, 1946 Pierce, John, age 64, pioneer resident of Varnado community, died Thur. March 7th, at the home of his nephew L. K. Pierce. Survivors: 2 bros. G. S. & I. She was the mother of Hy Bowman, well known service station operator. Funeral held Fri. in Benton MS, with interment in Yazoo City. Guileyardo, Joseph Vita, age 6, son of Mr/Mrs Sam Guileyard of Bog, was instantly killed Monday when struck by a truck driven by Jewel Wallace. The accident was unavoidable according to the coroner. Other survivors: 2 bros. Manuel & Tiney. Incomplete arrangements being handled by G. F. Poole Funeral Home. Lessel, Mrs. A. R., died suddenly at her home Wed., due to a heart attack. Survivors: husband, 1 son John W. "Chick" Lessel of Jacksonville FL, 3 daus. Mrs. George Cox of Yakima Wash, Mrs. R. M. Witham of Millinocket ME & Mrs. John N. Hubbell of Baton Rouge. He was a native of Sicily, Italy & had resided in Donaldsonville for 45 yrs. He was the father of Joe Montalbano of this city. Funeral was held Sun. at Barton LA with interment in the Catholic Cem. in Donaldsonville. O'Connel, Mr. P, age 65, died at his home in Haverhill Mass. on Thur. He was the father of Sister Miriam, instructor of the 3rd & 4th grade at the Catholic school. March 25, 1946 Jenkins, Alton Charles, age 37 of Bog, died Sat. March 23rd, at WST Hosp. following a heart attack. Survivors: wife Agnes Jenkins, 2 daus. Betty Jean & Velma Ray Jenkins, 1 son George, all of Bog. Funeral held Sun. at Calvary Bapt.
