Bulletin March, 1945 (By Judieth Magee) Bogalusa Bulletin March 5, 1945 Anderson, Cpl. John MacD., Jr. age 22, killed in the line of duty, Feb. 23 in the Middle East. Only child of Mr/Mrs. John MacD. Anderson. Leonard, Jack age 85, died Friday March 2. Survivors:2 sons James & Charles both of Bogalusa, 3 daus. Mrs. Agnes Franklinton of Hattiesburg , Daisy & Egie Leonard of this city. Interment in the Isabel Cem. Brown FH in charge. McElveen, Mrs. Carrie Duncan, age 75, died Friday. Survivors: Mrs. George Rouse of Bogalusa, 2 sons S. E. of New Orleans & F. M. of Jackson MS. Remains were taken to Osyka MS for funeral services 7 burial. Poole FH in charge. Pigott, Mrs. Anna Magee, age 67, died at home Saturday, of a heart attack. She was the widow of the late W. J. Pigott. Survivors: Miss Nellie Pigott & Miss Wilma Pigott of Bogalusa, Mrs. Jewell Varnado & Mrs. Ruby Kramer of New Orleans, 3 sons, Edwin, Wilson & Odis. Burial in Ponemah Cem. Poole FH in charge. March 12, 1945 Jackson, E. M. "Bill", age 36, died Thursday at Oteen N.C. He resided in Bogalusa a few years, then located in Jackson MS. Survivors: wife, his mother of Lufkin TX., 2 bros. & 2 sisters. Funeral services were held in Lufkin TX. Wilson, Mrs. Emma, age 78, died Friday at her daughters home in Sun. Survivors: Mrs. Andrew Mizell & Mrs. Relia Mizell of Sun LA, 2 sons Randolph & C. W. Wilson of Bay Minette AL., 16 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.Interment in the Mizell Cem. Brown FH in charge. March 19, 1945 {25 yrs. ago 3/18/1920} Mrs. Ada F. Bankston, age 26, wife of Earle Bankston, died of pneumonia. Survived by her husband & a 6 yrs. old daughter. Blackledge, Charles Marion, age 65, died Thursday at ESM Hosp. following a stroke.Survivors: wife; dau., Mrs. Nancy Kesler of Denver Co, sister; Mrs. J. D. Shivers of Bogalusa; 5 nephews; among whom is J. J. Ivy & Elbert Burkhalter. Burial in the Parker Cem. near Talisheek. Cupstid, W. Foret, Alfred {25 yrs ago 3/18/1920} age 7, died Friday of influenza. Son of Mr./Mrs. R. J. Foret. Holcomb, B. C., died last week at his home in Sumrall MS, of a heart attack. Survivors:widow, Charles, Bogalusa, Reese, Vernonia OR, W. H., Mobile AL, Mrs. Sidney Warren, Bogalusa, Mrs. Sam Turnage, Jacksonville FL, Mrs. Clarence Whittington, Woodville MS. 10 grandchildren & a number of bros. & sisters. Interment in the Purvis Cem. Leeke, W. Percy, Jr. age22, diedat 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Mackall, NC, of spinal meningitis. he was the son of Mr/Mrs. William Percy Leeke of Denhamtown. His grandmother, Mrs. Laura Frances Womack, age 77, died at ESM Hosp, at 2:45 p.m. the same day that he died. Interment in Ponemah Cem. G. F. Poole FH in charge. March 26, 1945 Breland, Avarice, age 61, died suddenly, Sunday at his home of internal hemorrhage. Survived by 5 children. Burial in the McGehee Cem. Brown FH in charge of services. Crosby, Pvt. Frank M., US Army, age 25, killed in action Feb. 28 on Luzon in the Philippines. Step-son of Simon C. Carter of Denhamtown. Naschke, Mrs. Opal , wife of R. J. Naschke, died at her residence Saturday. Survivors: husband who is in the Seabees, mother Mrs. Oscar Applewhite, sister, Miss Ruby Volkman of Bogalusa, bro. Oscar Volkman who is overseas. Remains taken to Poplarville for burial. Poole FH in charge. Thomas, Mrs. Minnie Jordan, age 61 of Angie, died Saturday. Survivors: husband John David Thomas, 4 daus. Mrs. Elois Knight, Bogalusa, Mrs. Ruth Boughman, Mrs. Tessie Ceil & Miss Ethel Mae Thomas all of Angie, 2 sons, Master Sgt. Semon Thomas in Italy & Sgt. Willard M. Thomas in Burma.
