F. Dixon died Mon. at WST Hosp.. Funeral arrangements incomplete with Brown Funeral Home in charge. McKenzie, Mrs. Pearl Sweeney age 60, found dead at her home in Bog, Sun. by neighbors. Survivors: 3 sisters Mrs. Rose Lee Huffts & Mrs. Vergie Miller of Bog, & Mrs. Florence Ladner of Lumberton MS, bro. J. W. Sweeney of New Orleans. Funeral to be held Tues. with arrangement incomplete. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Rose Mrs Ary, age 71 of Bog, died Sun. at WST Hosp. Survivors: 5 sons Rivers & Calhoun of Bog, Dawson & Joseph of Pride LA & Henry of Hollandale LA, 4 daus. Mrs. Norman Smith of Bog, Mrs. Ruth Coghlan of Kentwood, Mrs. Annie Flowers of McComb, & Mrs. Lucy Fitzgerald of Magnolia MS. Funeral to be held this afternoon, with interment in Ponemah Cem. Poole Funeral Home in charge. Stewart, Grant, age 53, died at his home in New Hebron MS, Sun. of a heart attack. Survivors: widow, son Grant R. Stewart, 1 dau. Miss Flora Lucille Stewart, 1 bro. Marshall, & 2 sisters. Funeral set for Tues, but details are incomplete. Turner, James, age 26, instantly killed in a wreck near Talisheek, along with James Weaves, age 32 driver of the truck, who died several hours later at ESM Hosp. Both were Veteran of WW II. Oct. 14, 1946 Jones, Don C., age 70, a native of Fulton Co. GA, but who resided in this city for nearly 40 yrs., died at the Veterans Hosp. in New Orleans Sat. He was a Veteran of the Spanish-American War. Survivors: widow Mrs. Margaret Farve Jones, dau. Miss Mary Belle Jones of Bog, 4 step-children Charles M. Farve, Mrs. Edna Cherry, Mrs. Neva Fink & Mrs. Gertrude Chatelain. The latter 3 reside in New Orleans. Funeral held Sun, with interment in the McGehee Cem. Poole Funeral Home in charge. Moffett, Mrs. Patricia Anne Martin, w/o Ray Moffett, killed in an auto accident when he & his wife were returning from a week-end trip to Lake Geneva WS. Mr. Moffett, has been making his home in Lemont IL, since receiving his honorable discharge from the Naval Air Corp. several months ago. He arrived in Bog, this past week to visit his sister Mrs. David Rogers. A passenger in the other vehicle was also killed, while Mr. Mofett suffered a back injury. Oct. 21, 1946 Adams, Thomas Edward, age 64 of Angie, died Fri. Oct. 18th at ESM Hosp. Survivors: wife Mrs. Ettress Adams, 4 sons James of Bog, Clyde of Angie, Willie of Panama City FL, & Wayne of Fort Worth TX, 2 daus. Mrs. Onetha Blackwell of Pascagoula & Mrs. Evelyn McGee of Brownsville TX. One of Mr. Adams sisters Mrs. Lucille Little, reside in Bog. Funeral held Sat. at Angie Bapt. Church, interment in the Angie Cem. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Jenkins, S. C. "Brownie" age 35 of Plainview, died Sun. at ESM Hosp. He was a school bus driver & became ill following a tooth extraction. The tooth reportedly became infected & he developed pneumonia. Survivors: widow Mrs. Lanelle Dunaway Jenkins, 3 children Tresia, Sandra Lou & Carmel, parents Mr/Mrs S. L. Jenkins, 3 sisters Mrs. J. P. McGehee, Mrs. W. Stafford & Mrs. George Anderson, 1 bro. Ilous Jenkins. Funeral will be Tues. at Poole Funeral Home, interment in the McGehee Cem. Oct. 28, 1946 Farrell, Mrs. Nettie, age 86 of Bog, died Sat. Oct. 26 at WST Hosp. Survivors: 2 daus. Mrs. Effie Young of Florence AL & a dau. who resides in CA. Funeral held Mon. at Poole Funeral Home, interment in the Ponemah Cem. Miley's Celebrate 50th Anniversary: Exactly 50 yrs. ago, Sun. Oct. 20th, Mr/Mrs. Charles Henry Miley, better known to friends as "Uncle Charles" & Aunt Ella" were united in marriage. Sunday, they renewed their vows in the presence of family, neighbors & close friends. Mrs. Miley, was the former Miss Ella Ard, d/o the late Mr/Mrs "Billie" Ard of Varnado, one of their 7 children which included 6 daus. All are still living & 1 son died several months ago. Mr. Miley was the s/o the late Joe Miley, veteran of the Civil War, originally from Ireland, but a resident of Washington Parish at the time of his death. Mr/Mrs Miley are in their late 60's, & 1st homesteaded near Sheridan. They later moved to Varnado, where Mr. Miley farmed & once served as deputy sheriff in the he early 1900's. Three children were born to their union, Mrs. Alma Miley of Bog, Mrs. Porter Quinn of Poplarville & Harry Holden of Bog. In 1908 they bought a home in Pearl River Co MS. Another dau., Mrs. Julius Baker of Bog, was born after the move to Pearl River Co MS. They have 4 granddaughters & 2 grandsons. All join in congratulations & wish them long life, good health & continued happiness. Oct. 28, 1946 Tarut, Frank M., age 57 died at ESM Hosp, Fri. Oct. 25, following a heart attack. Mr. Tarut came to Bog. 36 yrs. ago from New Orleans. S urvivors: widow Mrs. Helena Nelson Tarut, 1 bro. Charles of New Orleans , 2 aunts Lottie Cuneo of Bay St. Louis MS & Sister Louise Teresa of St. Joseph's Academy in Bay St. Louis, an uncle Henry Cuneo also of Bay St. Louis. Funeral held Sat. at Annunciation Catholic Church, interment in Ponemah Cem. Poole Funeral home in charge. Nov. 4, 1946 Bailey, Gov. Thomas L., 48th governor of MS, who died Sat. at Jackson were held Sat. from the Central Methodist Church in Meridian. Governor Bailey, a man who "loved people" had been ill of a spinal malignancy since last Feb. & had undergone treatment in New Orleans.Thousands viewed the body of the chief executive in the state capitol Sun. afternoon. Lt. Governor Fielding Wright of Rolling Fork MS, took oath of office later Sat. night. Jackson, Samuel M., age 76, died at his home near Lee's Creek, Sun. Nov. 3. Survivors: wife Mrs. Susan Hill Jackson & 1 son Theodore Jackson of TX. Funeral was held Monday Nov. 11, 1946 Gates, James E, age 22, veteran of WW II, died Sat. Nov. 9 at ESM Hosp of pneumonia following a motorcycle & truck wreck last Wed.. A truck driven by L. C. Quinn, colored, turned on 9th St. & Gates motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck. Quinn, was booked with reckless driving. Survivors: mother Mrs. Lula Penton Gates, 2 bros. Louis & Lawrence, 2 sisters Mrs. Marie Pritchard & Mrs. Ardula Stillwell of Bog. Funeral will be held Mon. at Calvary Bapt. Church, interment in the Ponemah Cem. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Jones, Mrs. Sylvia Williamson age 19, died at her home in Bog, on Fri. morning. She gave birth to twins girls only 17 days ago. Survivors: husband Bennie Jones, her mother Mrs. Linda Stafford, 2 children Glenda & Brenda all of Bog, her father Wilbur Williamson of Birmingham AL, 1 bro. Rawlin serving in the Philippines. Funeral will be held Mon. at Calvary Bapt. Church, interment in Ponemah Cem. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Mueller, Mrs. Leonie H. age 66, died Thur. Nov. 8 at ESM Hosp. She was born in Cincinnati OH, d/o Fredrick & Lena Heidorn. She studied music & was later well known for her beautiful concert voice in Orlando FL, where she lived for many years. Survivors: son Rev. Howard McCudden Mueller, sister, Mrs. Carl Herold of Cincinnati & 2 grandchildren. Funeral held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, interment in St. Louis. Smith, Wilbur Calvin, age 76 of Varnado, died at WST Hosp, Sun. Nov. 10th. Survivors: Mrs. Julia Smith, 2 sons Eugene of Franklinton, & Wesley of Thomas, 2 daus. Mrs. Emma Rae Merritt & Mrs. Mary Ann Rainer, both of Pine. Funeral to be held Tues. at the George Knight Cem. Brown Funeral Home in charge. Nov. 18, 1946 Brumfield, Mrs. Q. M., age 69 died Fri. at ESM Hosp. She was born in Franklinton. Survivors: husband, Q. M. Brumfield, 4 sons howard of Birmingham AL, Clyde of Gulfport MS, Loyd of Washington DC, Alton of New Orleans, 2 daus. Mrs. Margie Burge, of Vicksburg MS, Mrs. Marie Bingham of Tampa FL, 2 bros. P. E. Fussell of Mobile AL, & J. E. Fussell of Bog, 1 sister Mrs. Mary Burns of Bog, 3 grandchildren. Funeral held Sun. at Poole Funeral home, interment in Ponemah Cem. Carter, O. P., age 57, died of a heart attack Sat. at his home in St. Louis MO, Son of the late Judge Prentiss B. & Mrs Corine Carson Carter, he was born west of Franklinton at the old Carter home. Survivors: widow Mrs. Willie Bickham Carter, 2 sons Prentiss Benard Carter of Bloomington IL & Tommie Carter at home, 1 bro. O. H. Carter of Franklinton an attorney, 4 sisters Mrs. O. D. Richardson & Mrs. B. H. Alford of Bog, Mrs. T. J. Magee of Mansfield LA & Miss Texana Carter of Franklinton. The remains arrived in Hammond on the Panama Limited this morning & was taken to Franklinton. Funeral will be held Tues. at Franklinton Methodist Church, interment in the Ellis Cem. Poole-Simmons in charge. McNeese, Abram C, age 58 of Bog, died Fri. at ESM Hosp. A veteran of WW I, he had been a citizen of Bog. for many years. Survivors: wife Mrs. Minnie Bass McNeese, 3 bros. Willie of Franklinton, Edward of New Orleans & Charles of Varnado, 6 sisters Mrs. J. Schillings, Mrs. Albert Rester, Mrs. Louis Summrall all of Bog, Mrs. Edgar Hunt & Mrs. Whit Jones both of Enon & Mrs. H. Sheridan of Franklinton, Funeral held Sat. at New Hope Bapt.
