He was a longtime resident of Richton, where he was owner/operator of Dewitt Body Shop and Wrecker Services for 34 years. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, where he served with Company K of the 325th Glider Infantry of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a charter member of the Richton Volunteer Fired Department, where he served for 32 years. Mr. Dewitt is survived by his wife, Delores Dottie Dewitt of Richton; five sons, Gary Dewitt, David Dewitt, Jim Dewitt, Terry Dewitt and Dickie Dewitt, of al Richton; one daughter, Brenda Brewer of Richton; one brother, Charles Dewitt of Richton; two sisters, Bess McDonald of Richton and Florence Lee of Franklinton, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation was held at Jones Funeral Home in Richton, which is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Phillip Fowler and Rev. David McNeil officiating. Burial followed in the Sunset Cemetery.
