Ott, died Jan 9th at the age of 82. He was a resident at The Hermitage, Methodist Nursing Home in Alexandria, VA. His wife, Mable Wheatley Robinson, preceded him in death in 1967. WILLIAMS, Shelby R., age 70, passed away Jan. 13th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery. He is survived by two brothers and seven sisters. 1-21-1971 BRUMFIELD, May. Mrs. Myrt McElveen and Dudley motored to Biloxi, MS on Sunday to attend the wake of Mrs. May Brumfield. CORKERN, William Otis, 79 years old. Death came on January 16th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Sharon Church Cemetery. He was a resident of Route 4 Franklinton. He is survived by three sons, one daughter and one brother. GRANTHAM, Henry Edward, 65, died January 18th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Nobles Cemetery. He was a resident of 19th Ave. and is survived by his widow, Mina McBeth Grantham, one son, two daughters, two sisters and six grandchildren. HULL, Henry L., 44 years old and a native of East Baton Rouge Parish. Funeral services held January 17th in Baton Rouge, with interment in the Greenoaks Memorial Park. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors are his widow, Lanell King Hull, a native of Franklinton, the daughter of Mrs. C. H. King; his mother, Dell Hull, three sons, a daughter and two sisters. HUSSER, Johnnie Marion, 69, a native of Franklinton and resident of Roseland, died January 15th in a New Orleans hospital. Interment held in the Canaan Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Ozzie Ellen Mulina Husser, one son, three daughters, one brother, five sisters, twenty-one grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. MILLER, Wilma Pearl, 68 and resident of Bickham Street, died January 18th in Riverside Medical Center. Interment held in the Ellis Cemetery. He is survived by husband, Oscar Ray Miller, 1 daughter, 1 brother, 1 grandchild. ROLLINS, Robert L., died Tuesday in the Southwest General Hospital. Final rites were conducted January 14th from Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, MS. Mr. Rollins was born July 15, 1886 in Lincoln County; he was a resident of McComb until moving to Survivors are 2 sons, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. STAFFORD, Norman James (Pompey), age 74 years. Graveside services were held in Fisher Cemetery. He died January 14th at McGehee Clinic. Interment held in the Ellis Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Lela B. Bickham, 1 brother, 1 sister, 3 nephews. CARROLL, Reuben R., age 62, died January 21st. He was a of Rt. 1, Varnado. Interment held in the Jones Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Ruby Williams Carroll, 2 brothers, 1 sister. FOIL, Bessie Sylvest, age 80 and lifelong resident of Washington Parish, passed away January 22 in New Orleans. Interment was held in the Fisher Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, John Ernest Foil, 2 daughters, 3 sisters, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. MAGEE, Geneva M., age 55 and former resident of Franklinton, died January 22 at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary. Interment was held in Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Sidney J. Magee, 2 sons, her father, Harvey Russell of Marion, ILL and 3 grandchildren. 2-4-1971 ROGERS, Murl Andrew (Bill), age 65, died January 29th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was held in the Magee Cemetery near Lawrence Creek Baptist Church. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Louis Rogers, 4 daughters, 1 brother, 3 sisters and 10 grandchildren. FRICKE, Henry C., age 61, died January 31st. Interment was held in Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Hilda Nell Fricke, 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother, 5 sisters. VARNADO, A. B., died January 29th in Beecham’s Hospital in Magnolia, MS. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Osyka, MS. He was a U. S. Army World War II veteran. Survivors are his widow, Ivy V. Varnado, 2 daughters, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and 4 grandchildren. SPRINGS, Mrs. Nell, of Amite. She is the mother of Wilfred Springs and sister of Velma Bahm. Funeral services were held at McNeely Funeral Home in Amite on Tuesday. Funeral rites were held on Wednesday. Interment was in Springs Cemetery. 2-11-1971 BICKHAM, Mouton. He died February 10th at McGehee Clinic. LEBO, Wilford, age 65, of Mt. Hermon, died at his residence Thursday morning. Final rites were held on February 6th from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with interment following in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Evelyn Lebo, 1 son, 3 daughters, 2 brothers, 5 sisters and 6 grandchildren. CORKERN, Wilton C, age 56, died February 6th at his home on Alford Street. Interment was held in Ellis Cemetery. Mr. Corkern was a Veteran of World War II. Survivors are his widow, Ruth Tynes Corkern, 2 sons, 1 daughter, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Corkern of Bogalusa. WATTS, France Wiley, Jr., age 55, died February 4th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was held in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Ott Watts, 3 sons, 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. STEVENS, Winston Alton, age 59, died at his home on Rt. 4, Franklinton, on February 2nd. Interment held in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Mae K. Stevens, 1 daughter, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and 2 grandchildren. MYLES, Viola F, age 45, died February 17th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment held in the Wallace Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Earlie Hayward Myles and her mother, Bessie Scarbough. RESTER, Ellis, age 63 of Rt. 2 Franklinton. He was a native of Washington Parish and died at his home in the Oak Grove community. Funeral services were conducted February 4th from Brown Funeral Home in Bogalusa, followed by Interment in the Rester Cemetery. Survivors are 4 brothers and 4 sisters. SMITH, Fleet Eugene, age 82, died February 6th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was held in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors are 4 sons, 3 daughters, 1 brother, 3 sisters, 27 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. STRAHAN, Ottis C., age 40, died February 5th. His body lay in state at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy Strahan on Parker Street in Franklinton. Final rites were conducted at the Spring Hill Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors are his parents, 2 brother, 2 daughters and 3 sisters. 2-18-1971 GRAVES, Harry, 52, of Houston and native of Franklinton, died February 14th in Veterans’ Hospital in Houston, TX. Interment in the Hays Creek Cemetery. Survived by 1 daughter, 2 brothers, 3 sisters. BICKHAM, Alexander Mouton, 68 years old, died February 10th at McGehee Clinic. He was a resident of Main Street. Mr. Bickham was born in Franklinton on January 30, 1903 to Houston D. and Lela Babington Bickham. He served as Mayor of Franklinton for 22 years. MORGAN, Paul Virgil, age 76 and former Franklinton resident, died February 13th at the Mission East Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri. Survivors are his widow, Mary Dean Passman Morgan, 5 sons, 1 daughter, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 9 grandchildren. NEWMAN, Louis Monroe, age 65, died February 11th at his home in Pine. He was a native of Varnado. Interment is in the Lewis- Crain Cemetery. Survivors are 1 daughter, 2 sons, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. WILKES, Vanda A., age 80, died February 13th in Baton Rouge General Hospital. She was a native of Washington Parish and resident of Mt. Hermon. Interment was held in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are her 4 sons, 5 daughters, 1 brother, 1 sister, 35 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren. FIORELLO, Paul, a resident of Rt. 3 Franklinton, died February 14th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Lillian James Fiorello, 3 brothers and 1 sister. 2-25-1971 COX, Infant. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Kinell R. Cox of Stoney Point, died February 21st at Riverside Medical Center. Religious rites held at Stoney Point Baptist Church. Survivors are his parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Q. D. Bond and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cox. CRAIN, Jimmy, age 33, died February 18th in the U. S. Naval Hospital in Charles, South Caroline. He was a native of Route 5 Franklinton. He served 16 years of active duty with the Navy. Final rites were conducted at the Crain’s Creek Baptist Church in the Crain’s Creek Community. Survivors are his widow, Rena Crain, 1 daughter, 1 step son, 1 step daughter, his parents, Mrs. Anna M. Crain and Mr. Aldon Crain, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. DILLON, Carl, age 60 and resident of Rt. 1 Mt. Hermon, died February 18th. Survivors are his widow, Lucy Hill Dillon, 2 sons, 3 daughters, 3 sisters and 6 grandchildren. FOIL, Hazel Richardson, age 81, died February 21st in the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Graveside rites were held at Fisher Cemetery. She was a native of Franklinton, and survived by her husband, T. Ed Foil, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. O’DELL, Roy, age 60, died February 23rd at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was held in the Ellis Cemetery. Mr. O’Dell was a native of Mississippi and a resident of Franklinton. Survivors are his widow, Mildred Knight O’Dell, 1 son, 1 daughter, 3 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 3-4-1971 CARSON, Felder (Speedy) Jasper, age 37, died February 28th. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Mercedes Theriot Carson, 3 sons, his mother, Allean Carson, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. JONES, Jack Allen, age 54, died February 24th in the Washington St. Tammany Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II. Interment was in the Williams Cemetery in Isabel. KLIESCH, George V., age 65, of Kentwood, died March 4th in Pike’s Memorial Hospital. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Kentwood. TULLOS, Eva Magee, age 88, died March 16th at the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Interment held in the Springhill Cemetery. A former resident of Franklinton and a World War II Veteran, he was residing in Hammond. Interment was in the Stevens Cemetery in Independence. MEYN, Walter Allen, age 29 of Amite, was killed May 6th. Meyn’s body lay in state at the McKneely Funeral Home in Amite with services at the Friendship Baptist Church. Interment was in the Mixon Cemetery in Tangipahoa Parish. A native of Washington Parish, he is survived by his widow, Marie Gill Ard, two brothers, three sisters and a grandson. Preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Fortenberry. PEARCE, Mrs. Furman B., age 84, died June 1st in Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Metairie Cemetery. A native of Sunset, LA, she had resided in New Orleans since her marriage in 1910. Survivors are two daughters, two brothers, one sister, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. HASSELQUIST, Rose Alford, age 77, and native of Sunny Hill, LA, died May 13th. A resident of New Orleans for fifty three years, she is the wife of Raymond A. Hasselquist. FUSSELL, Otis, age 71, was killed by Lightning on June 9th. Interment was held in the Enon Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, Velma M. GERALD, Alton N., age 57, a resident of the Crain’s Creek Community, died December 12th at the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Gerald Family Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Hazel Seal Gerald, four sons, two brothers, one sister and fourteen grandchildren. BROOKS, June. She died December 1st at Hotel Dieu in New Orleans. Final rites were conducted from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel in New Orleans. She is survived by five children and seven grandchildren. MAGEE, Odra, age 52 and resident of Franklinton, died near Meadeville, Mississippi on December 5th. The body will lay in state at the Sweet Home Church of Christ. He is survived by his widow, Eugenia Magee and one son. POUNDS, William Acey, age 82, died December 2nd at Heritage Manor. Interment was in the Stoney Point Cemetery. Survivors are one brother. STRAHAN, Bernette, age 91, was a former Mt. Hermon resident. She died December 7th at Dixon Memorial Hospital in Denham Springs. Interment was in the Strahan Cemetery. Survivors are four sons, four daughters, one brother, thirty-eight grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. THOMAS, Archie. He was a life-long resident of the Thomas community and died December 12th in Riverside Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II and is survived by his widow, Earline Martin Thomas, three sons, three daughters, five brothers, one sister and nine grandchildren. 12-22-1971 BABINGTON, John J. He was born in Franklinton on February 2nd, 1890 to the late William W. and Mima Magee Babington. He died December 7th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are two brothers and three sisters. Burial was in the Ellis Cemetery. BOOTY, James Williams, age 19, drowned October 28th near Transylvania, Louisiana, but his body was not recovered until December 20th. Interment was in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his mother, Mildred Jenkins, step father, Joseph Jenkins, one brother, four sisters, one step-brother, and three step-sisters. COOPER, David, age 20 months. He died Saturday at the Cooper Store just across the Bogue Chitto River. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his mother, Linda McElveen Cooper, his father, A. J. Cooper, one brother, two sisters, and grandparents: Ernestine Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. J. Robert McElveen. DANIEL, Louis Tebo, age 91, died December 16th at Riverside Medical Center. He was the son of pioneer Washington Parish residents, the late Elizabeth Wood and Alfred W. Daniels. He is survived by his widow, Stella Gill Daniel, two sons, one daughter, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. STAFFORD, Elroy, age 36, died December 21st at his residence on Fourteenth Ave. Interment was in the Bonner Creek Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Barbara Garfield Stafford, a son, two daughters, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd W. Stafford and two sisters. 12-30-1971 HOLMES, Mrs. Bennie (Mary), died December 25th in Rest Haven Nursing Home in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are three daughters, five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. KNIGHT, William Floyd, age 58, died at his home in the Springhill Community on December 27th. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mildred H. Knight, two daughters, one brother, one sister and five grandchildren. SMITH, Emmette E., died December 25th at his home in Mt. Hermon. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. He was a native of Walthall County. Survivors are his wife, Lee Schilling Smith, one daughter, two and one brother.
