A resident of Mt. Hermon died at Heritage Manor on December 28th. Interment was in the Rushing Cemetery in Tylertown. Survivors are her husband, Leon Burch, three daughters, two sons, three sisters, two brothers, twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Holton, Grady, age 71. A resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, died December 24th at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma. Survivors are his widow, Verda Holton, two daughters, (one daughter is Mrs. Ed Wareham of Franklinton), three brothers and six grandchildren. Lanford, Ollie D., age 61. A resident of Route One, Mt. Hermon, died December 23rd at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, James L. Lanford, one son, four daughters, three brothers, four sisters and thirteen grandchildren. Reedy, Melva Wright, age 83. She died December 27th at her home in McComb. Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery. Survivors are her husband of sixty-five years, W. P. Reedy, two sons, two sisters, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Carter, Vera Byrnes, age 53. She died December 27th at her home in Morton, Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Prentiss Bernard Carter, one son, three daughters, one sister and four grandchildren. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Bankston, Howard Myles. He died December 23rd from a vehicle accident on Ponchartrain Causeway, when his vehicle plunged into the lake. His body was located on December 27th. Survivors are his widow, Patricia Tyrney Bankston, one son, a daughter, mother, Inez Bankston McKenzie, two brothers and one sister. Busby, William Riley, age 40. A resident of Route Two Franklinton, he died December 30th in a hunting accident. Interment was in the Springhill Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Emma Gates Busby, two sons, three daughters, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Busby, two brothers and a sister. Pierson, Judge Allen Butler, age 69. A native of Ponchatoula, died December 29th in the Seventh Ward Hospital in Hammond. Interment was in the Ponchatoula Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Marguerite Powell Pierson, a son, four daughters and eleven grandchildren. Thomas, Robert T., age 75. He died December 25th at Walthall County General Hospital in Tylertown. Interment was in the Thomas Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Ouida Wood Thomas, two sons, a daughter, three brothers, a sister, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. 1-10-1974 Finley, Bertha Lee, age 31. She died January 7th at her residence in Route 2, Franklinton. Survivors are her husband, Robert B. Finley, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Schilling, six brothers, four sisters, her maternal grandmother, Fannie Jenkins and her paternal grandfather, Arnold Schilling. Miller, Willis Collier, age 96. A native of Washington Parish died December 29th in Angleton, Texas, a convalescent home. He resided in Freeport, Texas for the past 32 years. Survivors are five daughters, two sons, 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Brumfield, Billy Carl, age 44. A resident of Tot Street, Bogalusa, he died January 1st at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Audie Mae Brumfield, a son, three daughters, stepmother, Myrtis Brumfield, four grandchildren, four stepdaughters, two stepsons and six step grandchildren. Mizell, Frank J., age 49. He was a resident of the Isabel community and lived on Route 4, Franklinton. He died January 2nd in an automobile accident. Interment was in the Mizell Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Ruth Fussell Mizell, three sons, three daughters, two brothers, one sister, five half brothers and a half sister. 1-17-1974 Thomas, James McKinley. A life-long resident of Franklinton, died January 12th in Washington-St. Tammany Hospital. Interment was in Thomas Cemetery. Survivors are five sons, one daughter, his mother, Harriet Thomas, one sister, four brothers and nine grandchildren. 1-24-1974 Press, George, age 76. Resident of New Orleans, died January 14th. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are a daughter, a brother and sister in New York and several brothers and sisters of Rosenheim Germany. Corkern, James Calvin “Jimmy”, age 33. A native of Franklinton, he lived in Amite. He died January 17th at his home. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery. Body lay in state at Springhill Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Jennie Faye Robinson, two daughters, mother, Mrs. Delon (Mae) Barber, a brother and a sister. Miller, Neva McKenzie, age 58. A native of Tylertown and resident of Franklinton, she died January 19th at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are a son, one daughter, five grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. Varnado, Fletcher, age 63. He was formerly a resident of Route Three, Franklinton and died January 20th at East Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson. Interment was in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are two brothers, six sisters and several nieces and nephews. Thomas, Lloyd L., age 58. A resident of Route One, Franklinton, he died January 18th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in Acey’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors are June Hasket Thomas, four sons and six daughters. Hill, Mary Beard, age 54. A resident of Route Six, Franklinton and died January 16th at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Interment was in State Line Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Allen Hill, five sons, a daughter, three brothers, two sisters and 10 grandchildren. 1-31-1974 Fussell, Arnold W., age 69. He was a resident of Enon and died January 22nd at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Fussell Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Junie Miller Fussell, one son, one daughter, four brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Evans, Mrs. W. O. (Minnie Lou), age 87. She was a former resident of Superior Avenue in Bogalusa, and died January 28th at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton. Interment was in the Bonney Cemetery in Angie. Survivors are one daughter, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 2-7-1974 (Should be 2-14-1974) Crowe, Miss Eula J. (Nettie), age 73. She was a resident of Route Three, Franklinton, and died February 2nd in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Interment was in the Stevens Cemetery. Survivors are her brother and a host of nieces and nephews. Bateman, Dudley H., age 68. He was a resident of Route Six, Franklinton, and died February 3rd at Riverside Medical Center. He was in the son of the late Ellis E. Bateman and Celia Garrett Bateman. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Smith Bateman, three nephews, one niece, four great nephews and four great nieces. Varnado, George W., age 78. He was a native and resident of Franklinton, and died February 8th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Reita Varnado, two sons, five grandchildren and three brothers. Burch, James Alton, age 65. He was a resident of 15th Avenue, Franklinton, and died February 9th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mamie Magee Burch, two brothers and five sisters. McCain, John Hamp, age 75. He was a resident of Route Two, Franklinton, and died February 11th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Alma Spears McCain and one brother, Norman McCain. Lewis, Wilber C., Jr., age 15. He died February 6th at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. Interment was in the Blackwater Cemetery in Baton Rouge. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber C. Lewis, two sisters, one brother, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tate M. Magee and Dr. Samuel S. Lewis, Sr. The mother of the deceased is the former Carolyn Magee. 2-21-1974 Bateman, Frank O., age 74. He died February 18th. Interment was in the Enon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Lillie Richardson Bankston, three sons, two daughters, two sisters, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mizell, Leo, age 79. He was a resident of Route One Bogalusa, in the Rio Community, and died February 17th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Pierce Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Ruth Talley Mizell, one daughter, three brothers, one sister, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dickerson, James Willard, age 60. He was a resident of Franklinton, and died February 18th in Carterville Hospital in Carterville, Illinois. Survivors are his widow, Nellie O’Neil Dickerson, three sons, one brother, one sister and twelve grandchildren. Galloway, Miss Aval Jenette, age 39. She was a resident of Route One, Bogalusa, and died February 18th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Adams Cemetery. Survivors are her father, James E. Galloway, five brothers and two sisters. 2-28-1974 Verberne, E. C., age 53. Resident of the Sunny Hill Community was killed January 22nd at his residence. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are one daughter, two grandchildren, a brother and two sisters. He is the husband of Dolly Lawrence Verberne. Verberne, Dolly Lawrence, age 47. Resident of the Sunny Hill Community was killed January 22th at her residence. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are one daughter, two grandchildren and two sisters. She is the wife of E. C. Verberne. Spears, Thelma Mae, age 57. She was a resident of Williams Street in Franklinton, and died February 23rd. Interment was in the Nobles Cemetery. Preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Spears. Survivors are one son, father, Arnold E. Schillings, three brothers and four sisters. Burch, U. H., age 52. He was a resident of Franklinton and died February 19th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Mixon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Helen Wall Burch, mother, Nancy Burch, five sons, one daughter, two stepsons, ten grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, and numerous nephews and nieces. Howell, Lester, age 67. He was a resident of Route Two Franklinton, and died February 25th in the Walthall County General Hospital in Tylertown. He was a native of Nebraska and resided in Franklinton only six months. Interment was in the Poplarhead Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Allene W. Howell, one daughter, a sister and four grandchildren. Sharp, Estus A., age 54. A resident of Franklinton, died February 21st in the Washington-St. Tammany Hospital in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Spencer Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Evelyn Sharp, three sons, two daughters, three brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren. Johnson, George, age 92. He was a resident of Route Three, Franklinton and died February 25th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are five sons, one daughter, one brother, twenty three grandchildren, fifty two great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Dickerson, James Willard, age 60. A resident of Franklinton, died February 18th in Carterville Hospital in Carterville, Illinois. Interment was in the Bonner Creek Church Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Nellie Mae Dickerson, three sons, one brother, one sister and twelve grandchildren. 3-7-1974 Alford, Bertie P., age 86. A native and resident of Mt. Hermon died February 27th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Bullock Cemetery. Survivors are four sons, two daughters, a brother, two sisters, thirteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. Green, Luby John, age 72. A native of Enon, he died February 26th at Heritage Manor. He was the son of John C. Green and Nena Williams Green; he was the fifth seven children who predeceased him. Interment was in the Enon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Edra Hays Green, a son and one grandson. Patterson, George Travis, age 66. He was a resident of Mt. Hermon and died February 26th in the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Mildred Kemp Patterson, three sons, four daughters, four brothers, five sisters, his father, Sim Travis Patterson and thirteen grandchildren. Duncan, Gussie, age 69. She was a life-long resident of Tylertown and died March 2nd in the Walthall County General Hospital in Tylertown. Interment was in the Duncan Cemetery. Survivors are one son, three grandsons, three brothers and three sisters. 3-14-1974 Rainey, J. C., age 50. He was a former resident of the Canaan Community and died at his home in Marianna, Florida. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rainey. Survivors are his widow, Sammie Little Rainey, one daughter, two grandsons, six sisters and one brother. Hyde, Verna Carter, age 69. A resident of Mt. Hermon died March 6th in Houston, Texas. Interment was in the Carter Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Odis Hyde, one son, one brother, one sister and three grandchildren. Goings, Ruby S., age 87. She was a resident of Mt. Hermon and died March 3rd in Baton Rouge. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are one son, one daughter, one brother, two sisters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 3-21-1974 Thigpen, Floyd John, age 67. He died March 13th at his home in the Springhill Community. Interment was in the Springhill Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Alphus Tullos Thigpen, two daughters, two brothers, four sisters and five grandchildren. 3-28-1974 Daniel, Stella Gill, age 80. A resident of Jackson Street Franklinton, she died March 19th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are one daughter, two sons, one sister, one brother, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 4-4-1974 Graham, Clayton Henry. He was a resident of Stoney Point and a World War II Veteran, died March 13th in the East Jefferson Parish Hospital in Metairie. Interment was in the Stoney Point Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Ophia Going Graham, one son, one daughter, four brothers, three sisters, mother, Margaret E. McElveen and three grandchildren. Smith, Bonnie O’Bryant, age 45. A resident of the Mt. Hermon-Warnerton area, died April 1st. She was the victim of an apparent robber. Interment was in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Hugh Samuel Smith, three sons, one daughter, three sisters and three grandchildren. Rogers, George M., age 63. A resident of Route One, Varnado, he died March 28th in Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Viola Bedwell Rogers, one son, three daughters, three brothers, three sisters and nine grandchildren. Kemp, Lucy Alford, age 77. A native of Washington Parish and resident of Baton Rouge died at the home of her son on Cuyhanga Parkway in Baton Rouge on March 29th. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are two sons, one sister, four brothers, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Holmes, J. Lee, age 66. A resident of Route One Franklinton, died March 29th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Janie Holmes, one stepson, three daughters, four brothers, four sisters, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 4-11-1974 Fuller, Alleyne B. A native of Washington Parish, died March 28th in Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Interment was in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Survivors are two sisters and a number of nieces and nephews. Pierce, Jack, age 64. A native and resident of Franklinton, died April 6th at McGehee Clinic. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery. He was the son of the late Ellie Talley and Willie Pierce. Survivors are one brother, a half brother and cousins. Fussell, Pearlie, age 80. A native of Washington Parish died April 3rd in Rockglen Hospital in Houston, Texas. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are one son, one sister, one brother and two grandchildren. Cooper, Willie M., age 64. He died April 5th at his home on Varnado Street in Franklinton. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Mamie Taylor Cooper, three sons, three brothers, two sisters and grandchildren. 4-18-1974 Bickham, Fannie Bankston, age 90. A life-long resident of Washington Parish and a resident of Bogalusa for many years, died April 10th in a Bogalusa Hospital. Interment was in the Bankston Cemetery. Survivors are three daughters, one son, grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister and two brothers. Corkern, Archie Harold, age 53. He was a resident of Route One, Franklinton and died April 11th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Corkern Cemetery. Survivors are two daughters, one son, two brothers and one sister. Bateman, Emerson, age 59. He died April 12th at his home on Route One, Franklinton. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are two brothers and four sisters. 5-2-1974 King, Martin C., age 65. A resident of Avenue I in Bogalusa died April 26th in a Bogalusa Hospital. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery near Mt. Hermon. Survivors are his widow, Inez Johnson King, one son, two brothers, one sister, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Seals, Pearlie, age 69. A resident of Route Three, Franklinton, died April 27th at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. Interment was in the Corkern Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Iddo Seals, one son, one daughter, one sister and five grandchildren. Magee, Charlie Hugh, age 49. He died April 27th at his home in Bogue Chitto Heights. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery located on Route Five, Franklinton. Survivors are four sons, two daughters, one sister and five grandchildren. 5-9-1974 Foil, Hazel Sweeney, age 70. A former Franklinton resident and long-time resident of Bogalusa, died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ernest Foil. Survivors are one son, two daughters, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in Bogalusa. Passman, Winfred or Wilfred, age 50. A resident of rural Franklinton was killed May 4th in a tractor accident. Interment was in the Pine Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Ida Nell Passman, one son, a daughter, a brother, two sisters and one grandson. 5-16-1974 Engerran, Ronald J., Sr., age 58. He died May 10th at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. Interment was in the Ponemah Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Bernadine Lemoine Engerran, three sons, one daughter, two brothers and four sisters. Boyd, Truly Clark, age 13. He died May 6th at Ochsner’s Foundation Hospital in New Orleans from injuries of a motorbike collision. Interment was in the Boyd Cemetery. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Truly Boyd of Tylertown, sister, a twin brother and another brother, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. (Webster) Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Ladner, and great grandmother, Mrs. Dewitt Boyd. Alford, Jason A., age 96. A resident of Minden died at his home April 28th. He was the son of Rev. Needham E. Alford and Mary Stafford Alford. Interment was in the cemetery at Cotton Valley. He is survived by his widow, Ava Morton Alford. Blackwell, James Ellis, age 64. He died May 13th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Thomas Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Vergie Dillon Blackwell, a son, one daughter, two brothers, three sisters, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. 5-23-1974 Roscher, Wihelm, age 60. A native of Annaberg, Germany and resident of Route One Franklinton, died May 15th. Interment was in the Abita Springs Town Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Charlotte S. Roscher, daughter and one brother. Miller, Bessie Ott, age 76. A life-long resident of Mt. Hermon died May 18th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are one son, five daughters, two brothers, one sister, twenty grandchildren, and forty-three grandchildren. Edwards, Arnold Linston, age 29. He passed away May 14th at his resident on Route One, Mt. Hermon. Interment was in the Magee-Baham Cemetery. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Edwards, a son and one brother. 6-6-1974 Seal, W. Warren, age 93. A resident of Franklinton, died May 30th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Frances L. Seal, six sons, six daughters, forty grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Thigpen, Roy E., age 60. A resident of Franklinton, he died at R. E. Thomas General Hospital in El Paso, Texas. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. M. A. Thigpen, one brother and two sisters. 6-13-1974 Edwards, Mrs. Jim (Lucille Edwards), age 62. A resident of Route One, Mt. Hermon, she died June 8th. Interment was in the Magee-Bahm Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, James (Jim) Edwards, one son, two brothers and one grandchild. Bankston, David H., age 85. A former resident of Mt. Hermon died June 9th in Heritage Manor in Franklinton. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchild and another grandson who lived with his grandparents, now of Isdack, Germany. Penton, Richard Dale, age 16. He died June 10th when he and two brothers were in the yard of their Pine home and he was struck by lightning. Interment was in the Pine Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William (Bill) Penton, five brothers, two sisters, one half sister, one half brother and grandmother, Louiser Penton. 6-20-1974 Williams, Emily C., age 96. A resident of Thomas died June 14th at the home of her daughter. Interment was in the Crain Cemetery at State Line. Survivors are four daughters, two sons, twenty-five grandchildren, sixty-seven great grandchildren and fifty-nine great-great grandchildren. Thomas, Mrs. Frankie K., age 46. She died June 14th at her residence on Route Three, Franklinton. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Bienville Thomas, one son, one daughter, two sisters, one grandchild, father, Malcolm J. Miller, mother, Mrs. Exie Crowe Miller, a half brother and a half sister. Butera, Roy, age 47. A resident of Route One, Mt. Hermon, died June 16th at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Catherine Butera, two sons, two brothers, two sisters and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Butera. 6-27-1974 Schilling, Edwin E. (Preacher), age 54. A resident of 19th Avenue, Franklinton died June 20th in New Orleans at Ochsner’s Foundation Hospital. Interment was in the Corkern Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Nora Mae Schilling, three sons, four daughters, father, Arnold E. Schilling, one granddaughter, two brothers and four sisters. Bateman, Ethel M., age 90. A resident of Route One Franklinton died June 20th at Heritage Manor. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Murphy Bateman, one daughter, two sisters, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Archer, William, age 78. A resident of Folsom died June 21st at Heritage Manor. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. Survivors are one son, one daughter, two sisters and two grandchildren. Wilson, Brent Michael, age 3. Franklinton relatives were notified June 23rd of the death of Brent Michael Wilson, who died in the Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, a victim of leukemia. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson of Baton Rouge, he is the grandson of former Franklinton residents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip H. Holmes, now living in Baton Rouge. 7-11-1974 Penton, Leo, age 52. A resident of Lee Street, Franklinton died June 8th. Interment was in the Crain’s Creek Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Hilda Lumpkin Penton, two sons, four daughters, one sister, his mother, Mina P. Grantham and three grandchildren. Wood, Mrs. J. P. (Mamie Cox), age 97. A former Franklinton resident, who has lived in Baton Rouge, died July 1st in Baton Rouge General Hospital. Interment was in Norwood Mississippi Cemetery. Survivors are one daughter and one step daughter. Jones, Donald B., age 47. A native of Washington Parish and resident of Baton Rouge died June 27th. Interment in Hillcrest Garden of Memories in Baker. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis A. Jones, he is survived by his widow, Jerelene Jones, one son, a daughter, a step daughter, a step son, three brothers and two sisters. 7-18-1974 Fussell, Emma Jane, age 85. A native of Franklinton died July 9th in Zachary in the Zachary Manor Nursing Home. She was a previous resident of St. Mary Street in Baton Rouge. Interment was in the Fisher Cemetery. A native of Hancock County, Ohio and a resident of Greenlaw died July 11th in the E. S. Pike Memorial Hospital in Kentwood. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery. A resident of Rosa Pearl Lane in Bogalusa and former Franklinton resident died July 13th in the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Homer Boutwell, four sons, five daughters, one brother, one sister, her stepmother, Mrs. Mollie Day, thirty-four grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. 8-1-1974 Babington, Nellie Bickham, age 91. A long-time Franklinton resident and resident of Dewey Street died July 29th at Heritage Manor. Survived by two sons, one daughter, two sisters, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. 8-8-1974 Bankston, Euner, age 96. She died July 31st at her residence in Mt. Hermon. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Survivors are three sons and one step daughter. Simmons, Olive Stuart, age 84. A native of Lessley, Mississippi and long-time resident of Franklinton died August 2nd at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Preceded in death by her husband, Cubic Simmons, she is survived by one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 8-15-1974 Graves, Willie C. (Bill), age 65. A resident of Route Five Franklinton died August 7th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Acey’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Franklinton died August 11th at the Dixie Memorial Hospital in Denham Springs. He was a resident of Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs. Interment was in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, one daughter, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jewett, Dollie Bean, age 75. A native of Kentucky and a long-time resident of Bogalusa died at her home in Portsmouth, Ohio on August 11th. Interment was in the Portsmouth Cemetery. She is the sister of the late Karl and Byford Bean. She is survived by one son and one sister. Magee, Patsy J. Wife of Franklinton native, Johnny P. Magee, now residing in New Orleans, died August 11th at her home. Interment was in the Springhill Cemetery. Survivors are two daughters, one son, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Williams, two sisters and one brother. Richardson, Allie Burris, age 88. A native and resident of 10th Avenue Franklinton, she died August 9th in Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Preceded in death by her husband, Hammond E. Richardson. A native of Washington Parish and resident of Route Two Franklinton, died August 21st at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Jones Cemetery. Survivors are two nieces, a sister- in-law, one great niece and four great nephews. Varnado, Preston H., age 69. A resident of Route Three, Kentwood died August 26th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Audrey Varnado, three brothers and two sisters. 9-5-1974 Miller, Hester Wascom, age 66. A native and resident of Mt. Hermon died August 31st at Seventh Ward Hospital in Hammond. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Interment was in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Mississippi. Survivors are his widow, Bea Polk May, two sons, four grandchildren, one brother and one sister. McCain, Robert N., age 78. A native of Franklinton and resident of Route Four died September 6th in East Jefferson Medical Hospital in Metairie. Interment was in Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Elba Simmons McCain, one son, one daughter, one brother, two sisters, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 9-19-1974 Jenkins, Rev. Daniel Percy, age 73. A native of Franklinton died September 9th at Fort Benning’s Martin Army Hospital. He was born June 2nd, 1901 to the late Richard Raymore and Flora Simmons Jenkins. Survivors are his widow, Mildred Ellison Jenkins, two sons, two daughters, six sisters, a brother, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment was in Fort Benning Post Cemetery. He was a veteran of World War II. Givens, Catherine Rester, age 76. She died September 13th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Poplarhead Cemetery. A resident of Bene Street died September 11th. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. A resident of Bene Street died September 14th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in McGehee Cemetery in Bogalusa. Survivors are three sons, two daughters, one brother, two sisters, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. McKeever, Edward. He died September 13th at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Interment was in the Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Survivors are his widow, Gail Quinlan McKeever, three sisters; one is Mrs. Charles Ray Corkern of Franklinton and five grandchildren. 10-3-1974 Waskom, Willie Mae, age 57. Resident of Route One Franklinton died September 24th in Washington – St. Tammany Hospital in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Nobles Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Fentris H. Waskom, her father, T. W. Jordan, three brothers and three sisters. Warner, Beulah, age 78. A former Washington Parish resident, now living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died September 19th at Riverside Medical Center. Burial will be in Fort Lauderdale. She is survived by three sisters and one nephew. 10-10-1974 Ney, Henry L., Sr., age 79. A resident of New Orleans, he died October 5th at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. Interment was in the St. Roch Mausoleum. She died October 18th in Ochsner’s Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. She was the mother of Franklinton resident, Mrs. Nell James. Final rites were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Columbia. 11-7-1974 Fussell, Ada Penny. She died October 31st in Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Fisher Cemetery. Former Franklinton resident and resident of Charwood Drive in Bogalusa died November 3rd in the Community Medical Center in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. A resident of Stoney Point died November 4th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Jewel E. A former resident of Route Four Franklinton died November 15th at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Bogalusa. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery. Survivors are one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Poole, John S, age 82. A long-time resident of Monticello, Mississippi died at his home November 14th. Interment was in the Monticello Cemetery. A native of Franklinton and resident of Bickham Street died November 15th. Interment was in the Fisher Cemetery. Survivors are one sister and two brothers. Simmons, Infant. The ten day old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom R. Richardson died December 3rd at Community Medical Center in Bogalusa, where he had remained since his birth. Interment was in the Fisher Cemetery.
