She was a resident of Franklinton and died December 31st at her residence. She was widow of the late Wilbur W. Knight. Survivors are two daughters, a son, a brother, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren. Interment was in Ellis Cemetery. 1-11-1989 Crain, Don Austin, age 54. A resident of Pine died January 4th at his residence. Survivors are a son, two daughters, his father, John Austin Crain, six brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren. Interment was in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery. 1-18-1989 Smith, Elbert A., Sr., age 58. A resident of Route One, Franklinton died January 10th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Smith, five sons, two daughters, three brothers, two sisters and six grandchildren. Interment was in the Hayes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Sheridan, Lawrence Edward “Larry”, age 21. He was a native of Baton Rouge and former resident of Franklinton. He died January 9th in Sebring, FL. Survivors are his mother and step father, Victoria and Carlos Rabb, his father and stepmother, Milfred and Joyce Sheridan, two sisters, his grandmothers, Mrs. Victor (Tillie) Angelo, Mrs. Jesse (Rena) Moore and Mrs. Ernie Rabb, three stepbrothers, and two stepsisters and several aunts and uncles. Interment was in the Sheridan Cemetery at Oak Grove. 1-25-1989 Patterson, James Perry, age 46. He was a native of Mt. Hermon and resident of Austin, TX. He died January 20th at his residence in Austin. He was the son of the late George T. Patterson. Survivors are two sons, his mother, Mildred Kemp Patterson, a brother, two sisters and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. McElveen, Eunice Duncan, age 64. She was a resident of Route Two, Mt. Hermon and died January 21st at her residence. Survivors are her husband, Wilmer McElveen, three sons, three daughters, stepmother, Mamie Duncan, a brother, seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church. McDaniel, Vernie E., age 77. He was a resident of Route Three, Franklinton and died January 17th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Celia Reeves McDaniel, four sons, four brothers, two sisters and six grandchildren. Interment was in the Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church. Thomas, Ollie Fred, age 82. He was a native of Washington Parish and died January 18th at his residence in Clifton. He was the son of William Henry “Bud” and Lenora Blackwell Thomas. Survivors are his wife of sixty-one years, Clara Bickham Thomas, two daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. 2-1-1989 McDaniel, Vernie E., age 77. He was a resident of Route Three, Franklinton and died January 17th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Celia Reeves McDaniel, four sons, four brothers, two sisters and six grandchildren. Interment was in the Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church. Jorgens, Roselean Spinks, age 79. A resident of the Canaan community died January 28th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are her daughter, two grandsons, two great grandchildren and a sister. Interment was in the Canaan Baptist Church. Talley, Hubert M., age 70. A resident of the Springhill community died January 29th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are four brothers, a sister, a brother, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. McNeese, Archie N., age 77. He was a resident of Pine and died January 23rd in Covington. Survivors are his wife, Alice B. McNeese, six daughters, three sons, four sisters, three brothers, thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Interment was in the War Crain Cemetery at Pine. Crowe, Elma, age 92. A resident of Franklinton died January 29th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are a sister. Interment was in Stevens Cemetery in Franklinton. 2-8-1989 Penton, Corbett W., age 46. He was a resident of Franklinton and died February 6th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are a son, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Penton and a sister. Bankston, Jewel, age 71. He was a resident of the Hayes Creek community and died January 6th at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington. Survivors are his wife, Hattie Brumfield Bankston, a son, four daughters, three sisters, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Interment was in the Hayes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. McMahon, Inez Bently. She was a resident of Gulfport and former resident of Franklinton. She died at the home of her daughter in Plano, TX on January 31st. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. McMahon. Survivors are a daughter and several grandchildren. Welch, J. L., age 64. She was a native of Franklinton and a resident of Madisonville. He died February 5th at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Murl Welch. Survivors are two sons, four daughters, three brothers, sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery. 2-15-1989 Penton, Corett W., age 46. He died Monday while on duty as Assistant Chief of the Franklinton Police Department. Survivors are a son, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Penton, a sister, a niece, two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church cemetery at Pine. Bankston, Jewel, age 71. He was a resident of the Hayes Creek community and died January 6th at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington. Survivors are his wife, Hattie Brumfield Bankston, a son, four daughters, three sisters, eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Interment was in the Hayes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Thomas, Teresa Dykes, age 23. A resident of Rt. 2, Franklinton died February 7th at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Survivors are her husband, Tommy Thomas, a son, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dykes, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Buster Dykes and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Miller and two brothers. Interment was in the Acy’s Creek Cemetery. Corkern, Hubert W., age 92. A native of Franklinton and life-long resident of Bonner Creek died February 7th. Survivors are two sons, a daughter and a sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ezell Corkern and two sons, Arbie W. and Everett Corkern. Interment was in the Bonner Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Welch, J. L., age 64. She was a native of Franklinton and a resident of Madisonville. He died February 5th at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Murl Welch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Tyrney Welch. Survivors are two sons, four daughters, three brothers, sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery. Nelson, Myrtle Haskins, age 92. A native of Missouri and resident of Franklinton died February 2nd at Riverside Medical Center. 2-22-1989 Jenkins, Mrs. Chris M., age 70. A resident of Rt. 2 Franklinton died February 14th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are her husband, R. L. Jenkins, two sons, a daughter, a sister and six grandchildren. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery. Welch, McCauley, age 75. A resident of Rt. 1 Bush and former resident of Franklinton died February 14th at Riverside Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are his wife, Audie Lee Welch, four sons, a daughter, eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery. Dixon, Christine Fisher, age 67. A resident of Enon died February 18th at her residence. She was the widow of Woodrow W. Dixon. Survivors are four sons, a daughter, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery at Enon. Magee, Vi Wood, age 80. A resident of Route 9 Franklinton died February 16th at Heritage Manor. Survivors are one son, one daughter, a stepson, two brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery. Murray, Richard “Rick”, age 42. A native of Kenner and resident of Route 1, Mt. Hermon, died February 19th at his residence. He was the owner of Rick’s Auto Parts. Survivors are his wife, Diane Landry Murray, a son, two daughters and two grandchildren. 3-1-1989 Breland, Olivia (Euna) Morris, age 99. She was a resident of Mt. Hermon and died February 26th at Riverside Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Esco Breland. Survivors are two daughters, a son, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Interment was in the Bankston Cemetery at Mt. Hermon. McLain, Dorothy Jean Taylor, age 36. A resident of Route 1, Franklinton, died February 25th at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. Survivors are her husband, Alvin McLain, a stepson, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion W. Taylor, a brother and five sisters. She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Taylor. Interment was in the Star Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Miller, Virginia Parsley, age 62. She was a resident of Route 1, Mt. Hermon and died February 26th at Highland Park Hospital in Covington. Survivors are her husband, Wilson Miller, a son, three daughters, a sister, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Interment was in the Miller Cemetery at Mt. Hermon. 3-8-1989 Bateman, Robert D., age 57. He was a native of Franklinton and resident of Baton Rouge, died March 2nd at Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Survivors are his wife, Iris Rushing Bateman, a daughter, a sister, two brothers and a grandson. Interment was in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery near Franklinton. Passman, Zelma Penny Morgan, age 87. A resident of Route 3, Franklinton, died March 1st at Resthaven Nursing Home in Bogalusa. Survivors are three daughters, three step-children, eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Interment was in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery. Kennedy, A. C., age 89. A life-long resident of the State Line community, died March 3rd at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are Ettie Hobgood Kennedy, three sons, three daughters, a brother, a sister, twenty-six grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren. Interment was in the Seal Cemetery. Elliott, Whitney H., age 70. A resident of Route Two, Mt. Hermon, died March 6th at Riverside Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are his wife, Helen W. Elliott, a son, a daughter, two brothers, three sisters, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. 3-15-1989 Miller, Nellie Cutrer, age 71. She died March 6th at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton. Survivors are one daughter, one son, one sister, five brothers, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Miller and two brothers, George and Fleet Cutrer. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Lebo, Retired Sgt. Major Lindsey W., age 63. A native of Franklinton and a resident of Columbus, Georgia, died February 19th at Veterans Administration Hospital in Decatur, GA. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He is the son of the late Henry and Edna Lebo. Survivors are his wife, Margaret, a daughter, four sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter. Graveside services were conducted in the Parkhill Cemetery. 3-22-1989 Riley, Sarah, age 87. A resident of Franklinton died March 15th at Ferncrest Manor Nursing Home in New Orleans. Survivors are a daughter, a son, a sister, a brother, a grandson and two great grandsons. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Hermon. Toney, James Delbert, age 61. A resident of Wilmer died March 15th at Lallie Kamp Hospital in Independence. Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Hyde Toney, two sons, a daughter, three step-daughters, a brother, five sisters, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, eight step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Interment was in the Wilmer Baptist Church Cemetery. Tate, Mark LaQuinn. The infant son of Sharon Tate and Marcus Ard, Jr., died March 12 in Franklinton. Other survivors are two sisters and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Tate. Interment was in the Hayes Creek Cemetery. 3-29-1989 Welch, Minnie Lea, age 84. A resident of Franklinton died March 20th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are a daughter, four sisters, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery. Harris, Marilyn S., age 57. She died March 18th at her residence in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was a native of Jackson, TX and a former resident of Texarkana, TX. Survivors are her husband, James T. Harris, Jr., a daughter, three sons, her mother, Mrs. Frank Springer, her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Douglas Gilliam, a brother and a grandchild. She was the daughter-in-law of Mrs. James T. Harris. Thomas, Pearl, age 52. A native of Thomas and resident of New Orleans died March 23rd. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thomas. Survivors are two daughters, two sisters, two brothers, five grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Thomas Cemetery. 4-5-1989 Burch, Loretha Barber, age 73. She was a resident of Route Two, Mt. Hermon and died March 31st at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are a daughter, five sons, a sister, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, May Belle Keating. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Stewart, Carrie Ernestine Williams, age 78. A native of the Oak Grove community and resident of Baker, died March 30th at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary. Survivors are two sons, three sisters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Interment was in the Jones Family Cemetery at Oak Grove. Varnado, Floyd, age 88. A resident of Bogalusa died March 26th at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Wilda Richardson Varnado. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. 4-12-1989 Fazekas, Charles, age 79. A native of Hammond, former resident of Metairie and resident of Mt. Hermon, died April 5th at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. Survivors are his wife, Irene B. Fazekas, a daughter, a son, a brother, two sisters, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Fazekas, and a brother, Alex Fazekas. Interment was in the Greenlawn cemetery in Hammond. Roberts, Curtis Delgadillo, age 62. A native of New Albany, MS, died March 18th at the Rankin General Hospital in Brandon, MS. Survivors are his wife, Betty Magee Roberts, two sons, a daughter, his mother, Angelita Roberts, a sister and two grandchildren. His wife, Betty Magee Roberts is the former Betty Magee of Mt. Hermon and daughter of Mrs. N. C. (Gilda) Magee. Interment was in the Roberts Cemetery in Kentwood, LA. 4-19-1989 Jenkins, Maude Green, age 92. A native and resident of Enon, died April 17th at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Survivors are four daughters, a son, a sister, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Crowe, Ethel Shows West, age 72. A resident of Franklinton, former resident of Bogalusa and New Orleans, died April 15th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are her husband, Willie W. Crowe, a son, two daughters, a step-son, a step-daughter, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Shows. Interment was in the Ponemah Cemetery. Consterdine, Fred A. He was a resident of Franklinton and died April 12th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Aylene Magee Consterdine, a son, a brother and five grandchildren. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. Stafford, Dorman, age 75. He was a resident of Route Three, Franklinton and died April 13th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Alice Jenkins Stafford, a son, a sister, a brother, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment was in the Ellis Cemetery. 4-26-1989 Rexford, Alpha Burch, age 88. She was a native of Washington Parish and a resident of Baton Rouge, and died April 11th at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Eli and Florence Self Burch and was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rexford. Interment was in the Pineville Cemetery. Survivors are a son, a sister and two grandchildren. Jones, Steve T., age 83. A resident of the Oak Grove community, died April 21st at his residence. Interment was in the Tyson Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mamie Passman Jones, a son, three daughters, four brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. McDaniel, Onzie D., age 64. A resident of Route Nine, Franklinton, died April 22nd at his residence. He was a veteran of World War II. Interment was in the Bickham Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Mary Evelyn Magee McDaniel, a daughter, two sisters and three brothers. Jenkins, Maude Green, age 92. A resident of Enon died April 17th at Heritage Manor in Franklinton. She was the widow of the late E. Fred Jenkins, and is survived by four daughters, a son, a sister, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren. Interment was in the Enon Cemetery. Kerbow, Betty Schilling, age 56. She was a native and resident of Mt. Hermon, and died April 19th in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors are her husband, Guindal Kerbow, three sons, two nephews/foster sons, her mother, Mrs. Elma Schilling, three brothers, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery. 5-3-1989 Seal, Monroe “Smiley”, age 50. A former resident of Franklinton and resident of Roseland, died April 23rd at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite. Survivors are his wife, Leatrice Seal, two sons, two grandsons, his mother, Mrs. Effie Seal, a brother, a sister, four uncles, an aunt and a number of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Carey Seal and a nephew. Interment was in the Corkern Cemetery. Jarrell, Wiley, age 87. A resident of the Pine community died April 30th in Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are two sons, four daughters, two brothers, a sister, thirty grandchildren and fifty-three great grandchildren. Interment was in the Old Gerald Cemetery. 5-10-1989 Dillon, Ara, age 86. A resident of Warnerton died May 3rd at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was the widow of Otto Dillon. Survivors are three daughters, six brothers, six sisters, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Interment was in the Warner Cemetery at Warnerton. Primes, Robin K., age 25. A resident of Pine died May 5th at Washington- St. Tammany Hospital in Bogalusa. Survivors are his mother, Aline Reviere Primes, two sisters, a brother, two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Primes and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Primes and Will and Hester Reviere. Interment was in the Strahan Cemetery. 5-17-1989 Bankston, A. E. “Cat”, age 75. A resident of the Stoney Point community died May 10th at his residence. Survivors are his wife, Vera Camille Stafford Bankston, a son, a daughter, three sisters, four grandchildren and a great grandchild. Interment was in the Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Vangordon, William “Shorty”, age 83. A resident of Pine died May 13th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Amelia Smith Vangordon, a son, a daughter, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a great, great grandchild. Interment was in the Old Knight Cemetery at Pine. 5-24-1989 Reid, Sue Hudson, age 63. A resident of the Thomas community died May 19th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are a son, a brother, two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Interment was in the Singley Cemetery in Columbia, MS. Butler, L. H. “Homer, age 96. A resident of Clifton died May 21st at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was a veteran of World War I. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Foil Butler. Survivors are two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Sharp, Johnnie E., age 72. A resident of Enon died May 15th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Celia Bates Sharp, five sons, a daughter, two brothers, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Interment was in the Enon Church Cemetery. Brown, Lillian Hamberger, age 86. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Franklinton died May 19th at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are her husband, Odie E. Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment was in Silver Springs Cemetery near Osyka, MS. Flynt, Dr. W. E., age 65. A resident of Crain’s Creek community died May 20th at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. He was the son of the late A. A. and Cynthia Crain Flynt. Survivors are a brother, a niece and nephew. Interment was in Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Bell, Brittany Denise. Daughter of Donnie Denise Bell, she died May 12th at Washington-St. Tammany Regional Medical Center. Survivors are her mother, her father, Tonius Lamar Clark, grandparents, J. C. and Willie B. Bell and Fonzia and Anita Crain, aunts, uncles and cousins. Interment was in Moriah Cemetery in Franklinton. Thomas, R. C. A resident of Bogalusa died May 8th at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Survivors are Charlean Thomas, a daughter and three brothers. Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Tylertown. 5-31-1989 Barber, Newton J., age 65. A resident of Sandy Hollow Road died Monday at his residence. He was a veteran of WWII. Interment was in the Magee- Springhill Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Mae Salita Barber, two daughters, two brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren. Lanman, Mrs. Paul (Betty Green). She was a former resident of Washington Parish and died recently in Oklahoma. Survivors are two sons, three grandchildren and three sisters. Corkern, Becky Elizabeth, age 69. A native of Franklinton and resident of Holden died May 27th at Westpark Community Hospital in Hammond. Interment was in the Enon Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors are a daughter, four sons, a sister, five grandchildren, a great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. Butler, L. H. “Homer”, age 96. A resident of the Clifton community, died May 21st at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was the operator of the old Clifton Depot for many years and a veteran of WWI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Foil Butler. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. Survivors are two daughters, one brother, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 6-7-1989 Paradise, Hardy G., age 46. A resident of Mockingbird Lane in Folsom was killed last Thursday in an auto accident. McBeth, Marie Taylor, age 81. She was a resident of Franklinton and former resident of Crain’s Creek, died June 1st at Riverside Medical Center. She was the widow of the late Sibley McBeth. Survivors are two sons, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, twenty-three grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Interment was in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. 6-14-1989 Seal, Beverly Jayne Martin, age 30. A resident of the Pine community, died June 10th in an automobile accident. Interment was in the Pine First Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors are her mother, Mrs. ____ DeLancey Martin Lowrey, her step-father, John Lowrey, four sisters, her grandmother, Alethea Crain Martin, three nieces and five nephews. 6-21-1989 Crowe, Janet Jenkins, age 54. She was a resident of Route Two, Amite and died June 14th at Seventh Ward General Hospital in Hammond. Interment was in the Canaan Baptist Church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Hoy Jenkins, Sr. Survivors are her husband, Talmadge C. Crowe, Sr., three sons, a daughter, her mother, Mrs. Theo Jenkins, two sisters, a brother, four grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Jordan, Sharon Hunt, age 26. She was a resident of the Enon community and died June 15th in an automobile accident south of Isabel. Interment was in the Tyson cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Monty Jordan, a son, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hunt, a brother, Bruce Hunt, grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Jenkins, Malachi Hunt and Alma Hunt, and also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ard, Vernie, age 73. He is a resident of the San Pedro community and died June 17th at his residence. Interment was in the San Pedro Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul A. Ard. A native and resident of Franklinton, died June 24th at Riverside Medical Center. He was the owner and operator of the first black-owned dry cleaning establishment in Franklinton. He also operated a café and grocery store for a number of years. Interment was in the Sweet Home Church of Christ cemetery. Stringfield, Victor T., age 86. A native of Franklinton and resident of Washington, D.C., died June 19th in Washington, D.C. He was the son of the late William S. and Laura Amelia Harvey Stringfield. Survivors are three daughters, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 11-29-1989 Frazier, Frances Upchurch, age 55. A resident of Franklinton died November 24th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Ellis cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Percy Mac Frazier, two daughters, two sisters, a brother, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Stafford, Georgia Knight Taylor, age 83. A resident of Enon died November 25 at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in the Enon Baptist Church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Taylor and her second husband, Dr. Hollis A. Stafford, Sr. Survivors are three sisters, two step-sons and several nieces and nephews. Trevino, Mary Inez Gay, age 67. A resident of Sheridan died November 22nd at Highland Park Hospital in Covington. Interment was in the Nobles cemetery. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Loyd, Charlie and James Ray Gay. Survivors are her husband, George Trevino, two daughters, two sisters, four brothers, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Wood, Margie Bell, age 94. A resident of Baton Rouge and former resident of Franklinton died November 23rd at Sterling Place in Baton Rouge. Interment was in the Ponemah cemetery. She was the widow of Oscar D. “Dutch” Wood. Survivors are a son, a daughter, a brother, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Stokes, Dewis Wilson, age 62. A resident of Lawrence Creek died November 24th at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Interment was in the Faith Tabernacle Church cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Aubrey Stokes, a daughter, a foster son, a sister and a brother. Kemp, Thomas Alvin, age 58. A resident of the State Line community died November 20th at Riverside Medical Center. Interment was in Crain cemetery at State Line. Survivors are his wife, Louisa Ard Kemp, four sons, his mother, Bevie Gerald Kemp, two sisters, two brothers, six granddaughters and two grandsons. 12-6-1989 Thorp, Carl Maurice, age 77. A native of Post, Texas and resident of Franklinton died December 2nd at Riverside Medical Center. Survivors are his wife, Joanne Vodegel Robinson Thorp, a daughter, two stepchildren, a brother and two grandchildren. Creel, Leila Mae, age 67. A resident of Resthaven Nursing Home in Bogalusa and formerly of Bush and Franklinton died December 1st. Interment was in the Poplar Head Church cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Harvey E. Creel, two sons, her mother, Sarah Davis Smith, nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. 12-13-1989 Spencer, Arnold C., age 73. A native of Enon and resident of Houston, Texas died December 8th at the Diagnostic Hospital in Houston. He was a veteran of World War II. Interment was in the Spencer cemetery at Enon. Survivors are his wife, Naiomi Spencer, two brothers and three sisters. Bennett, Elrie Lenzie, age 57. A resident of Morgan City and formerly of Mt. Hermon died in Ochsner’s Foundation Hospital in New Orleans on December 3rd. Interment was in the Mt. Hermon Pentecostal Church cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Arminda Leon Bennett, ten children, three brothers and five sisters. 12-27-1989 Knight, William Arthur “W. A.”, age 87. A resident of Pine died December 18th in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Larimore Knight, who died December 11th. Jones, Mrs. L. E., age 78. A resident of Baton Rouge and former resident of Franklinton and native of Liberty died December 13th at her residence. Interment was in the Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. She is the widow of Percer Jones, Sr. and is survived by two daughters, two sisters, two brothers, and eleven grandchildren.
