He was a senior at Franklinton High School where he was an avid supporter of all FHS athletic activities and served as mascot for the FHS basketball team. He was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents, Jamie and Lynnette Sharp Busby of Franklinton; two brothers, James Tyler Busby and Michael Lynn Busby, both of Franklinton; his grandparents, Dora W. Sharp of Franklinton and James and Margie Spears Busby of Amite; his great-grandmother, Athalee Spears of Franklinton; aunts and uncles, Darwin and Collette Sharp and Craig Sharp, all of Franklinton, Young and Melinda Thompson and Clay and Diane Edwards all of Amite; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bert D. Sharp. Visitation was a Crain Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until the chapel funeral service at 2 p.m. The Revs. David Hedden and Sammy Smith and Johnny Williams officiated. Pallbearers included Dustin Crowe, Chad Crowe, Brad Crowe, Scott Seal, Dennis Barber and John Carl Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Franklinton High School basketball team. A memorial service for the beloved student was held at Franklinton High school Monday morning for students, faculty and staff. A memorial fund has been set up in Chase’s name at Citizen’s Bank in Franklinton. Burial was in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Franklinton Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 11-13-2002 James Russell Gerald, Pine, LA James Russell Gerald, age 64 and a resident of Pine, LA, died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, October 20 at his residence. He was a retired Superintendent of the La. Department of Highways and a member of Pine Missionary Church. He is survived by his wife, Janice Wood Gerald of Pine; one daughter, Donna G. Seal of Pine; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell Lavell and Shannon Gerald of Pine; one sister, Martha G. Watts of French Settlement; two brothers, Gaston Gerald of Greenwell Springs and Kelly R. Gerald of Pine; and six grandchildren, Fallon M. Dutruch (Jason), Landon Lavell Gerald, Dylan Gage Miley, Taylor Nicole Gerald, Sheyenne Tashana Seal and Cameron James Seal. He was preceded in death by one son, James W. Gerald, one stepdaughter, Angela Faith Wood, his parents, James Edward and Cynthia Martin Gerald, four brothers, Shelby Lavell, Wilton, Clifford and Brock Gerald and a sister Janice Merle Gerald. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 4-10 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Monday. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Clyde Cooper and Elder Lerand Hunt officiated Active pallbearers: Ronald Jones, Bruce Ard, Randal Watts, Kendal Gerald, Paul Dillon and Stanley Seals. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Adams, Billy Lott, Billy Wayne Spears, Randy Crain, Jessie Fred Magen, Lucius Herzog, Huey Pace and Preston Dillon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Franklinton Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 11-13-2002 Remiro Easley, Bogalusa Remiro Easley, 25, a native of Bogalusa and a resident of Bossier City died at 1:30 am last Friday at his home. He worked as a carpenter. He is survived by his mother: Doris Easley Higdon of Bush; his sister: Marianna Easley Jarrell of Pine; three brothers: Julio Deleon and R.D. Deleon both of Pine and Spencer Deleon of Bogalusa. He was preceded in death by a sister Jennifer Easley and nephew Jude Talley. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday at 7 pm until a memorial service at 8 pm. The Rev. She was Director of Health Services for Signa Healthcare in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Mark Lewis of Allen, TX; one son, Thomas Lewis of Allen, TX; and one sister, Brenda Houlton Walker of Mobile. She was preceded in death by her parents Pearl & C. L. Houlton. A funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. at Crain Funeral Home. Rev. Leon Hickman officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Ron Lewis, Jeff Lewis, David Lewis, Tom Lewis, Wayne Tyson and Howard Stewart. She is survived by her husband; Julius W. "J.W." McGee, Jr. of Folsom, one daughter, Joyce Owens of Houston, Texas; two sons Julius W. McGee, III of Folsom, Louisiana and Quincy Oneal McGee of Germany. Also seven sisters; Lucille Thomas of Killen, Texas, Betty Bickham of Chicago, Illinois, Roxie Bickham, Effie Bickham, of New Orleans, Louisiana, Nicey Davis of Franklinton, Louisiana, Annie Wise and Linda Harvey of Slidell, Louisiana; one brother Ollie Bickham of Franklinton; and one grandchild, Aaliyah Janae' Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service was held Saturday November 9, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Midway Church of Christ Holiness. Elder Leroy Divinity Officiated. He was a retired electrician and a member of Fisher United Methodist Church. He was also a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 113. He is survived by his wife, Mona Matherne Boquet of Stoney Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Harry Boquet Jr. And Wanda Boquet of Mt. Hermon; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Boquet Westmoreland and Brad Westmoreland of Franklinton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Boquet, Travis Boquet, Justin Magee and Lauren Harrell; two brothers, Johnny Boquet of Gretna, LA and Alvin Boquet of Russellville, Ark.; two sisters, Iris Blanchard of Baton Rouge and Una Jacuzzo of Houma, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Joseph and Fabriola Desroche Boquet; six sisters, Lucena Fournier, Clara Uhlich, Lona Deplantis, Dolly Richard, Lucille Lecompte and Lorine Walker; eight brothers, David, William, Clarence, Edgar, Gustave, Norris, Albert and Magnus Boquet. He was 80 years old, and retired from Wolf Sunbeam Baking Co., in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife, Lilburne Stafford Scheuermann of Franklinton, two sons, Jeffery L. Scheuermann of Slidell and Roger S. Scheuermann of Lafayette; a daughter, Patricia “Trish” Scheuermann of Franklinton, three grandchildren, Alex, Greg and Ben Scheuermann; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Scheuermann. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton from 5:00 ;.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 25 and from 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time for the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Gene Richards of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiated. She was a member of Fisher Methodist Church and the widow of Marshall Sylvest. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Osburn Corkern; a sister-in-law, Iris Burkhalter all of Franklinton; and numerous nephew and nieces including Barbara C. Creel. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Wednesday with funeral services at 10:30 I the funeral home chapel with Rev. Denny Brumfield officiating. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Peggy Alford and Larry and Phyllis Alford, all of Liberty; a sister, Mrs. George D. Crain of Vicksburg, MS; a brother, Dudley Simmons of Franklinton; four grandchildren, Angie Blanchard of Liberty, Shelly Pourcia of Livonia, LA, Dana Taylor of Baton Rouge and Dale Alford of Denham Springs; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louie D. Alford; her second husband, Munson Turner; and three brothers, Othar Simmons of Franklinton, Billy Simmons of Meadville, MS and Wayward Simmons of Baton Rouge. Visitation was at the Rabenhorst East Funeral Home in Baton Rouge from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday until time for services. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Shane Pourciau officiating. Her nephews served as pallbearers. Hermon Willie "William" Tate, 68, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died November 18 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a Long Shoreman and a member of the Shady Grove MBC, Prayer Band and the male choir. He was survived by his wife Mary Tate of Mt. Hermon; a son, William Tate Jr. on New Orleans; an adopted son, Christopher Tate of Mt. Hermon, seven step-sons, Dennis Tate of Franklinton, Jimmie Tate of Osyka, MS, Calvin, Wilton, Louis, Alvin and Frankie Tate, all of Mt Hermon, two step-daughters, Rhonda Johnson and Rose Tate of Mt. Hermon, three grandchildren,23 ste-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Callie Brumfield Tate and twelve brothers and sisters. Visitation was at Washington Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Nov 22. Funeral service was held November 23 at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove MBC in Osyka, MS, with Rev. Bertrand Smith officiating.
