He later owned Hayden Printing Co. on Pleasant Hill. He continued his printing career at the Morning Advocate and retired from the Houston Post. He the returned to Bogalusa, where he has resided for the pat 26 years. Hayden was active in the Pleasant Hill Boosters, a former member of the Center Lodge #244, and a Shriner. He is survived by his son, Horace Adna Hayden, Jr., da daughter-in-law, Barbara Borden Hayden of Bogalusa; four grandchildren, Suzi Hayden and her husband, Dale Sibley of Slidell, Terri Hayden Coxe, Horace "Hap" Adna Hayden, III and his wife Julie both of Bogalusa, and Hugh Alan Hayden of Madisonville; six great-grandchildren, Jay Robert Coxe and Bennett Ross Coxe of Bogalusa, John Hayden Sibley and Lana Sibley of Slidell, Horace "Hayes" Adna Hayden, IV, and Mary Margaret Hayden of Bogalusa; a brother, John Dodds of Bogalusa; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Horace Adna Spencer and his parents, Isaac Hayden and Myrtle Spencer Hayden Dodds Breaux. Visitation was held Wednesday, November 1 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa and continued at 1- a.m. Wednesday until time for the funeral services which were held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Phill Stagg officiating. Burial followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eleanor Montgomery Dillon, Franklinton Eleanor Montgomery Dillon, 77, a resident of Franklinton died at her Home on Sunday, October 29, 2000.  She was born on May 4, 1923 in Walthall County Mississippi to Winfred Thomas Montgomery Sr. and Julia Brumfield Montgomery. She was a member of Star Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, James M. (Wavelyn) Dillon of Tylertown Mississippi; two daughters, Delane D. (Jackie) Miller of Franklinton and Sue D. Hilliard of Baton Rouge; one brother Wilkie Montgomery of Denham Springs; two sisters, Lenora M. Dillon of Tylertown, Mississippi, and Willie Mae M. Hinson of Franklinton; one sister-in-law Mae Montgomery of Tylertown; also five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claiborne Ott Dillon of Franklinton; and one brother Winfred Thomas Montgomery Jr. of Tylertown. Visitation was held Monday October 30, 2000 at Harman-Hughes Funeral Home in Tylertown, MS, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel, with Rev. Ted Phillips, Rev. W.L. Tullos and Rev. Lavon Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Star Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Dr. Mark Andrew Dillon, Patrick S. Dillon, Jeff Hilliard, Lamar Montgomery, Larry Montgomery, Craig Schobey and Kenneth Simmons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Darrell Dexter Gatlin, Independence Darrell Dexter Gatlin, 68, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at his home. A native of Summit, MS, he was a carpenter. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Wallace Gatlin of Independence; three sons, David Gatlin, Loranger, James (Bo) Gatlin, Franklinton, and Dexter Gatlin, Amite; three daughters, Pat Dykes, Janice Jenkins, and Ruby Bickham, all of Franklinton. Also survived by one brother, Claude H. Gatlin Jr., of Loranger, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Claude H. Gatlin and mother, Gussie M. Gatlin Lining, a step son, J.J. Drago, two grandchildren, Ronnie Sellers and Stephen Brumfield. Visitatino was held at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Independence on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until services Friday at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Marshall Wallace officiated. Burial was in Lawerence Memorial Gardens in Independence. McKneeley Funeral Home in Amite was in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ James Ray Miller, Denham Springs James Ray Miller, 73, a resident of Denham Springs died at his residence on Saturday, November 4, 2000. He was born July 22, 1927 in Washington parish, the son of the late James Otis Miller and Dessie Dillon Miller, he was a truck driver. He is survived by his mother, Dessie Miller of Franklinton; one son, James Bradley Miller of Denham Springs; six daughters, Janice Neucere, Jean Miller, Debra Jones, Veta Galloway, Donna Roberts, and Dana Prudencio all of Denham Springs; one brother, Relious Miller of Franklinton; three sisters, Essie Mae Lambert of Texarkana, Arkansas, Melba Ray Hubbard of Kilgore, Texas, and Ann Magee of Mt. Hermon, Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Monday, November 6, from the Star Hill Baptist Church in Warnerton with Rev. Ted Phillips officiating. Pallbearers for the service were his nephews, Dale Miller, Darrell Miller, Tim Magee, Terry Crain, Todd Crain, Wayne Degraw, and Keith Degraw. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ada Hazel Lowe, Franklinton Ada Hazel Lowe, 77, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. She is survived by five sons, Melvin (Doris) Lowe, Marvin (Dorothy) Lowe, Joseph (Priscilla) Lowe, James Floyd (Annette) Lowe and Melvin Lowe, Jr. of Franklinton; five daughters, Mary Ann Warren and Freddie Mae Lowe of Franklinton, Elmer L. (Fredrick) Brumfield and Ada Mildren (Ivory) Brumfield of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lisa (Rev. Keno) Spurlock of Baton Rouge; one brother, Marvin Warren of California; twenty-one grandchildren; nine great- great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held Monday, November 6, 2000 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a family hour from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness with Elder Raymond Dyson officiating. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Aaron Eugene Riley, Mt. Hermon Aaron Eugene Riley, infant son of Gene and Dawn Williams, died at 9:45 Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Elizabeth Nicole Riley of Mt. Hermon; two uncles, Bobby and Chris Williams, both of Franklinton, and Raymond Williams of Denham springs.  Also, great-grandparents, Leatrice Williams and Louise Dedon, both of Franklinton and the late Bob Williams and the late Grover Dedon.
