He was a self-employed fence contractor. He was survived by his wife, Jeanelle Ryals Thomas; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Cindy Thomas; a daughter and son-in-law, Gretchen and David Tullier; two sisters, Penichon Wood and Shirley Brock; two grandchildren, Kade Brumfield and Macie Tullier; and a special nephew, Wendell Brock. Graveside services were held Monday, February 3 at 10 a.m. at the Wesley Thomas Family Cemetery with the Rev. Denny Brumfield and Eld. Willie J. Passman officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Singley, Eric Williams, Jason Thomas, Charles Reagan, Richard Knight and Clayton Knight. Jones, Donaldsonville Kelly V. Jones, 83, a resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Franklinton, died at 1 p.m. February 2 at his home. He was a retired oil field and construction worker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a member of Teamster Union Local 5, a member of 105th AAA (AW) BN, Association of WWII (Btry “D”) from Franklinton, member of VFW Post 3766, and American Legion Post 98. He is survived by five daughters, Sherry Simoneaux, Carolyn Castagnos and Jennifer Jones all of Donaldsonville, Mary Beth Perry of Addis, LA and Robin Trahan of St. Amant, LA; three sons, Kelly Jr., Mark and Jeff of Donaldsonville; two brothers, Louis Jones Sr. of Franklinton and Huey Jones of Melbourne, FL; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Washington and St. Tammany Parishes and elsewhere. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Rae Landry Jones; his parents, Henry Hall Jones and Lenora Sharp Jones; a sister, Joyce Lea Pittman; three brothers, Alfred A. Jones, Shelby O. Jones and Steve T. Jones; a son-in-law, Robert Simoneaux; and a granddaughter, Jodi Trahan. Religious services were held at 2 p.m. February 5 at the First Baptist Church in Donaldsonville with Rev. Don Wells officiating. Interment was in the Ascension Catholic Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 02-12-2003 John C. “D.C.” Magee, New Orleans John C. “D.C.” Magee, 61 a resident of New Orleans and native of Franklinton, died Saturday, February 1 at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans. He was survived by five sisters, Ruthie Hewitt, Willie Mae Johnson, Norma Brumfield, and Lavon Crain all of New Orleans and Francis Robinson of Franklinton; a brother, Wesley Magee Jr of New Orleans; two brothers-in-law, James Johnson of New Orleans and Rev. John H. Robinson of Franklinton; a special nephew, Richard E. Hewitt of New Orleans; two God-daughters, Angela Mills and Sherri Magee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was at Crain and Sons Funeral Home on Friday February 7 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Family Hour from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Terrence August officiating. Interment was in the Winan Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 02-12-2003 Joyce Elliott Sheridan, Franklinton Joyce Elliott Sheridan, 62, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, February 6 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. She is survived by her husband, Milfred Sheridan of Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Bryan Schexnider of Mt. Hermon; two step-daughters and a son-in-law, Angela and Bill Courtright of Baton Rouge and Patty Fruge of Biloxi; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica and Bryan, Jr. Schexnider, Brain Jr. and Shelly Faircloth, and Jordan Friloux; and one great-granddaughter, Shelby Faircloth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Helen Elliott; a daughter, Shannon Friloux; a brother, Billy Joe Elliott; and a stepson, Larry Elliott Sheridan. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Friday until time for funeral services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Pallbearers were Bryan Schexnider Jr., Brian Faircloth, Billy Ray Jones, Rusty Stewart, Patrick Spencer and Ryan Thoeny. Interment was in the Sheridan Cemetery.
