Crowe, Franklinton Donna B. Crowe, 70, a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003 at her residence She was a retired accountant for Dairymen, Inc. She served several terms on the Board of Directors for Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-op and was currently serving as board president. She was also court-appointed Special Advocate for Children in the 22nd Judicial District (CASA). She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the A.W. Robbins Sunday School Class. She was also a member and past Worthy Matron of the Noble Queen Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Velma S. Crowe of Franklinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Donald Duncan of Hohenwald, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, John L. and Marcia Bickham of Franklinton; a sister, Sarah Riley of Franklinton; and four grandchildren, Nicole Duncan, Whitney Crowe, Jessica Crowe and Melissa Crowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Crowe. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday. A funeral service was held Sunday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jim Bain, Rev. Paul Watts and Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Pallbearers were David Bryant, Patrick Bickham, Jonathan Nunez, Geofforey Crowe, Jeremy Stroud, and Howard Stroud. Hermon Elrie Bankston Tate, 75, a life-long resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 9 a.m. March 8, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy (Pat) and Wayne Patterson of Mt. Hermon; two granddaughters, Beth Ann Patterson Jacquin of Atlanta, GA and Lindsey Hannah Patterson of Oxford, MS; a brother, Troy G. Bankston of McComb, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Tate; her parents, Johnnie and Myrtis Bankston; two sisters, Natalie Bankston Daniels and Evelyn Bankston Tate; and a brother, Marion Ray Bankston. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, March 9 and at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, March 10. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at Bogue Chitto Baptist Church with the Reverends Joe Baugh and Joe Wiggins officiating. Pallbearers were her nephews, Don Tate, Danny Tate, Larry Gene Daniels, Jimmy Daniels, John Louis Daniels, Dwayne Bankston, Jeff Bankston, Kevin Purcell and Rodney Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 03-19-2003 Early Garrett, Franklinton Early Garrett, 80, a resident of Franklinton, died Saturday, March 9, 2003 at Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He was a native of Folsom and a member of the U.S. Army for four years. He was a graduate of Harper Baptist Seminary. He built and organized New Hope Baptist Church and was instrumental in the construction of Sweet Rest Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Annie Mae (Harold) Hall of New Orleans, LA; two sisters, Willie Mae Thompson of Franklinton and Virgil Lee Barlow of Baton Rouge, LA; a brother, Deacon Herbert (Sarah) Garrett of Franklinton; one grandchild, Willie Ray Magee of New Orleans; 4 great-grand-children; two great-great- grandchildren; an uncle, Hogan Chappell of Franklinton; two aunts, Georgia Sibley of California and Opal Garrett of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was at Crain and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, March 14 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service was held Saturday, March 15 at 12 noon at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mallory Calahan and Rev. Ivy Williams officiating. Bowlin, Franklinton Charles T. Bowlin, 60, a resident of the Sunlight Community, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at his residence. He was a real estate agent for Orman and Bickham Real Estate and a member of Sunlight Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Corkern Bowlin of Franklinton; a son, Tim Bowlin; two daughters, Angie Bowlin and Cassie Bowlin Ragan; two grandsons; a step-daughter, Jana Kennedy of Franklinton; his father, Tommy Bowlin of Arkansas; and six sisters, all of Arkansas. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Hedden and Rev. Sammy Smith officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Forrest, Darwin Sharp, Randy Passman, Keith Passman, Ernie Corkern and Luke Jenkins. Interment was in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Era-Leader, Franklinton, LA 03-19-2003 Christopher Doyle Watson, Franklinton Christopher Doyle Watson, 24, a resident of Franklinton, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 following an automobile accident. He was a deckhand for Tetra Applied Technology Offshore in Houma. He is survived by his mother, Suzette Watson Carter of Mt. Hermon; his step- father, Robert Carter, Jr. of Mt. Hermon; two sisters, Stacie Carter and Robyn Carter, both of Mt. Hermon; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Doyle and Cricket Watson. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Saturday, March 15 until time for funeral services at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Otho Schilling and Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Pallbearers were Russell Strahan, Ronald Strahan, Kevin Strahan, David Strahan, Waylon Watson, Luther Watson, Jason Hymel and Terry Watson. She was the widow of Delos J. Magee. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Pearl Johnson Sunday School Class, Merry Hearts and the Quilters Club. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Richard G. and Alice Magee of Baton rouge and Kenneth O. and Betty G. and Alice Magee of Baton Rouge and Kenneth O. and Bettye Magee of Hammond; four grandchildren, Jennifer vans, Ken Magee, Jr., Richard Magee and Christy Smitherman; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Dale J. Magee, her parents, Henry O. and Minnie Magee Burkhalter; two brothers, Otis Burkhalter and Glenn Burkhalter,; and three sisters, Bessie Brewer, Myrtle Lee Puckett and an infant. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and after 12 noon Sunday. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jerry Barlow and Ben Morgan officiating. She was an EKG Tech at Washington St. Tammany Regional Medical Center and LSU Medical Center in Bogalusa. She is survived by a daughter, Amanda Williams Baker of Laughlin AFB, Texas; her mother, Geneva Corkern Crowell of Franklinton; her father, Bobby Dean Crowell of Prairieville, LA; and two brothers, Jerry Wayne Crowell of Bogalusa and Richard Dale Crowell of Kinston, NC. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15 until time of funeral service at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Cremation followed.
