She is survived by her husband, John D. Cotton of Franklinton; daughters, Miyoshi McClain, Nadia Warren and Amonica Warren, all of Franklinton; a son, Roland Tokay Warren, also of Franklinton; a sister, Mary Favoroth of Franklinton and a brother, Clarence Bridges of New Orleans. Also survived by four grandchildren, Raymond Warren, Tacoma Warren, LaShanda Tate and LaShanta Warren, all of Franklinton. Visitation was held at Crain and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21. Funeral services were on Wednesday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Magee’s Temple Church of God in Christ. The Reverend Cecelaine Tate officiated. Interment was in Magee’s Creek Cemetery in Tylertown, MS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alfred Wayne McCain Alfred Wayne McCain, age 74, and a resident of Angie, LA, died at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2000 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, LA. He was a retired butcher for Woods Meat Market and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Alfred C. McCain of Pine; a daughter, Janice Lorena McCain of Tupelo, MS, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Iria Nobles McCain. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. The Reverend Larry Archote officiated. Pallbearers were Lance Rogers, Pat Dillon, Douglas Taylor, Kevin Combel, Edsel Martin and Jim Miller. Burial was in the Morris Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thomas Charles Creel Thomas Charles Creel, age 71, and a resident of Franklinton, died at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000 at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA. He was a retired supervisor with Florida Gas Corporation and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Homer Magee Post of American Legion and a member of the Springhill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Verne Thigpen Creel of Franklinton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Danny Carter and Sherri Thomassen, all of Franklinton; one brother, the Reverend Leslie Creel of Shreveport; one sister, Doris Morgan of Mandeville; and four grandchildren, Joseph Carter, Scott Thomassen, Jason Thomassen, and Lane Thomassen. Also survived by three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cicero L. and Bessie Welch Creel and a sister, Melba Bankston. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 9:00 a.m. Monday until time for the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Reverend Thomas L. Graves officiated. Pallbearers were Joseph Carter, Scott Thomassen, Jason Thomassen, Lane Thomassen, Jackie Church and Kenny Morgan. Burial was in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mary Crockett Barber Mary Crockett Barber, age 90, and a resident of Franklinton died Sunday, March 19, 2000 at Dixon Medical Center in Covington. She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of Hilton “Pat” Barber. She is survived by three sons, Glen Barber and Richard Barber, both of Bogalusa, and Harold Barber of Franklinton. Also survived by three daughters, Elise Kemp of Raton NM, Nellie Crain of Tickfaw and Janice Schenk of Slidell; and one brother, Milford Crockett of Pine; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation was at Crain Funearl Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday and after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Pallbearers were Matt Barber, Chris Mizell, Barret Schenk, Shannon Schenk, David Barber and Anthony Reid. Burial was in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rufus ‘JR’ Stubbs Rufus “Jr” Stubbs, age 59, and a resident of the Thomas Community, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18. He was a truck driver for Q.D. Turnage Trucking with 38 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Louise Freeman Stubbs of Thomas; one son and daughter- in-law, Gary and Tyra Stubbs of Mt. Hermon; four daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Rex McCain of Franklinton; Theresa and Chuck Foster of Denham Springs; Michelle and Kendall Amacker of Oak Grove and Heather and Jim Miller of Mt. Hermon. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Misti and Jessica Stubbs, Justin DeCarlo, Charlie, Shane, Chris, Steve and Savannah Foster; four brothers, Billy Stubbs of Franklinton, Floyd Stubbs of Breaux Bridge, Alton Stubbs of Burnside, MN, and Jewel Stubbs of Harvey; one sister, Beatrice Evans of Metairie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George “Ed” and Otera Stubbs. Visitation was at Crain Funearl Home on Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Jessie Charpentier and the Reverend Bobby Spears officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Stubbs, Eddie Stubbs, Richard Stubbs, Danny Stubbs, Louis Breland and Veron Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Q.D. Turnage, Jerry Barlow, Richard Foley and fellow truck drivers. Burial was in the Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at Improve, MS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cubic Stuart Simmons Cubic Stuart Simmons, age 81 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at his son’s residence in Hammond. He was a member of Franklinton Lodge #101 F&AM, homer Magee Post 113 American Legion and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a retired Chief Surveyor with LA Department of Highways. He was also a U.S. Navy Pilot and veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Jen K. Simmons of Franklinton, two sons, Greg Simmons of Hammond and Dr. Charles B. “Chuck” Simmons of Houston, TX; a sister, Beryl Crain of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation was at Crain Funeeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 8:00 a.m. Friday. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Charles Simmons and the Reverend Charles Floyd Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were Chris Simons, Robert Polzeck, Gus Gosslein, David Read, Bob Crain and Jeff Simmons. Burial was in Ellis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or North Oaks Hospital in Hammond.
