Nobles, a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community died at 11 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Medical Center. He was Justice of the Peach for 8th Ward for several years. He was a former deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was also a member of the Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Nelda Thomas Nobles of Franklinton; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Tammy Nobles of Franklinton; one daughter and son- in-law, Sally and Brian Stakelum of Orange, TX; mother, Hilda Sorrell of Pine; five grandchildren, Jessie Malley, Jarrett Malley, and Courtney Malley, Andy Nobles and Amber Nobles; two great-grandchildren, Paige Malley and Jason Malley; three brothers, Paul Lott of Venice, Robert Lott and Billy Lott both of Bogalusa; three sisters, Elsie Jenkins of Pine, and Martha Lynn Donnell of Orange, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Artis Nobles. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Don Jacobs, Eld. Preston alsobrooks, Eld. Clyde Cooper, and Eld. Connis Bennett officiating. Burial followed in Thomas Cemetery. Active pallbearers for the service were Keith Lott, Kerry Lott, James Wade Hines, David Smith, Jimmy Ray Thomas, and Jeremy Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were, Relton Sumrall, Marvin Thomas, Willie Jay Spears, Randy Seal, Russell Knight, Leroy Nielson, Jesse Malley, J.E. Magee, Andy Nobles, and Jarrett Malley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Benton “Pete” Roberts Benton “Pete” Roberts, 67, a resident of Mt. Hermon died at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Riverside Medical Center. He was a retired dairyman. He is survived by his wife, Grace Smith Roberts of Mt. Hermon; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Benton and Madeline Roberts, Jeff and Vicky Roberts all of Mt. Hermon; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Ronnie Simms of Kentwood; two brother, Holyne Roberts of Franklinton and Wayne Roberts of Mt. Hermon; four sisters, Jean Nielson, and Patsy Smith both of Franklinton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Roberts and his parents Frank and Alyne Miller Roberts. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Bourne and Rev. Otho Schilling officiating. Burial followed in the Mt.Pisgah Cemetery at Mt. Hermon. Theodore G. Lewis Elder Theodore G. Lewis, age 72, and a resident of Franklinton, died Friday afternoon, June 9 while visiting relatives in the Houston area. He was a member Wilmer Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruthie Lee Rester Lewis of Franklinton; two sons, James T. Lewis of Channelview, TX and Larry E. Lewis of Dayton, Tx; two daughters, Kathy Joan Verret and Barbara Diane Verret, both of Amelia, LA.; one brother, Henry W. Lewis of Henleyfield, LA; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday after 3:00 p.m. and until time for the funeral on Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Elders Glynn Erwin, Joe Lott and James Broome officiated at the service. Pallbearers included Elder Mark Hobgood, Elder Jason Skipper, Elder Donnie Burch, Elder Clyde Cooper, Elder Ted Phillips and Elder Billy Pierce. Burial was in the Poplarhead Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jessie Mae Morris Roberts Jessie Mae Morris Roberts, 82, and a resident of Franklinton died Friday, June 16 at Riverside Medical Center. She was a retired school teacher having taught at Thomas and Mt. Hermon schools for 36 years. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church in Franklinton. She is survived by her husband, Arthur D. Roberts of Franklinton; one son and daughter- in-law, Hugh Edward and Diane Roberts of Midland, TX. Also survived by two granddaughters, Kimberly Amber Roberts and Courtney Anne Roberts and one sister, Freddie Conerly of McComb, MS. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and after 9:00 a.m. Sunday. A funeral service was held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Karl Tingle officiating. Pallbearers were Brent Smith, Leonard Smith, Irvin Ryland, Darren Ryland, Mike Morris and Bart Wesley. Burial was in the Fisher Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Carey L. ‘Coot’ Graves Carery L. “Coot” Graves, 56, a native and longtime resident of the Hayes Creek community, died Tuesday, June 13, in Clinton, OK. He was a member of Hayes Creek Southern Baptist Church and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his son, Michael Shon Graves of Baton Rouge; one daughter Kari Aleshia Graves of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Michael and Mark Graves and Alisabeth Graves. Also survived by three brothers, the Reverend Thomas L. Graves, Jessie B. “Buddy” Graves and Glen Graves, all of Franklinton. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Friday at after 9:00 a.m. Saturday. A funeral service was held of Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Frederick Brumfield and Elder J.W. Graves officiated. Pallbearers were Jeff Graves, Doug Graves, Greg Graves, Chuck Graves, Gary Brumfield and Glynn Haley. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Homer Magee Post #113 of the American Legion. Burial was in Hays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Harvey Ollie Dillon Harvey Ollie Dillon, age 80, and a resident of Zachary, LA, a native of Warnerton, LA, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, June 16, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary. He was a retired employee of Baton Rouge Water Works. He is survived by two sons, James Ray Dillon of McComb, MS, and Ollie Jack Dillon of Zachary; five daughters, Syble Jean Pampell of Zachary, Susan Laura Dillon of Bogalusa, Patricia Ann Jones of St. Francisville, Brenda Gail Sullivan and Alice Mae Posey, both of Denham Springs. Also survived by one sister, Quilla Mae Saylor of Baker, 24 grandchidlren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Reverend Bill Rhinehart officiated at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Robbie Jones, Shawn Jones, Pete Dillon, Ray Dillon, Shane Holliman and Roy Caves. McClendon, 68, died at his resident in Slidell, La, on Saturday, June 17, 2000. A native of Isabel, LA, and former resident of Bogalusa, Baton Rouge and Diamondhead, Ms. He was a resident of Slidell for the past 4 years. McClendon was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War, and he later retired as an Assistant Plant Manager employed by Air Products. He was amember of Varnado Masonic Lodge #461 F&A.M., Bogalusa, LA. And a member and Deacon of Pearl Acres Baptist Church of Slidell. He is survived by his wfe, Rose Haley McClendon of Slidell, and children, Ronnie G. McClendon of Diamondhead, Donnie K. McClendon of Denham Springs, LA, and Sharon Theresa McClendon Roach, also of Denham Springs. Also surivived by brothers, Delous McClendon if San Antonio and Lofton McClendon of Poplarville, MS, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys Quinn McClendon, and a son, Leon Lonnie McClendon. Funeral services were held at Pearl Acres Baptist Church on Monday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Larry Huffman and the Reverend James H. Morris officiating. Burial ws in the Haley Family Cemetery in Franklinton, LA.
