She was a retired Administrative Assistant for the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton and a longtime member of the church choir and a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Franklinton Woman’s Club. She is survived by two sons, Gregory Vaughn Blair and wife Lisa W. Blair of Pollack, LA; Jewell Scott Blair and wife Susan Jones Blair of Varnado, LA; two daughters, Michelle “Shelly” Blair Kaltenbaugh and husband Thomas Kaltenbaugh of Lakeland, FL and Tracy Blair Petty and husband Donald Petty of New Orleans. Also survived by five step-children, Ginger Burris McNutt of Coleman, TX; Jill Burris Melancon and husband E.J. (Buddy) Melancon of Covington; James M. (Chip) Burris and wife Brenda Burch Burris of Tylertown, MS; Robert F. (Bob) Burris and wife Debra Ford Burris of Mandeville, LA; and David H. Burris and wife Dana Holder Burris of Franklinton. Also survived by one brother, Wayne Cantrell, Pass-A-Grille Beach, FL; four sisters, Mari Evon Koonsz and Terry Seal, both of Franklinton, Janice O’Conner and Lana Todd, both of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. (Jim) Burris. Visitation was on Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton. A funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Karl Tingle officiating. Pallbearers included Scott Blair, Greg Blair, Traci Blair Petty, Shelly Blair Kaltenbaugh, Duane Blair, Chris Blair, Don Petty and Tom Kaltenbaugh. She was buried in Ellis Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rodys M. Foil Rodys M. Foil, age 82, and a resident of Franklinton died at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 at Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. He was a retired operator for Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton. He is survived by a brother, Arnold Foil of Bogalusa; 4 nieces, Lanell Daniel of Georgia, June Graham of Franklinton, Sue Hingle of Kentwood and Becky Civello of Baton Rouge; two nephews, Gary Foil of Bogalusa and William D. Foil of Franklinton. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Delos D. and Mima Bateman Foil; two brothers, Alvin and Roy Foil and one sister, Elaine Foil Daniel. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. Monday until time for the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. The Reverend Thomas L. Graves officiated. Pallbearers were Carey Bateman, Adney Whaley, Ricky Ingram, Trey Bond, Todd Edwards and Alvin Graham. Burial was in the Foil-Stringfield Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lillie Mae Hunt Taylor Lillie Mae Hunt Taylor, age 80, and a resident of the Star Hill Community, died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. She was a member of Star Hill Missionary Baptist church and the widow of Marion W. Taylor. She is survived by one son, Elder Lavon Taylor of Franklinton; five daughters, Janella Chatellier of Mandeville, Virginia Barth of Metairie, Patricia Hensley of Harriman, TN, Johanna Heap of Greensburg, Peggy Fischer of Lisbon, ND. Also survived by two sisters, Ora Lee Brumfield and Bevie Simmons, both of Franklinton; three brothers, Shelton Hunt of Bogalusa, Robert Hunt and Houston Hunt, both of Franklinton; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Everett Taylor; one daughter, Dorothy McLain; her parents, Spurgeon and Ida Mae Stafford Hunt; two brothers, John E. Hunt, Hubert Hunt and a sister, Martha Wallace. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and continued at Star Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday until time for the service at 2:00 p.m. Elder Lavon Taylor and Elder Ted Phillips officiated at the funeral service. Active pallbearers were Randy Boyd, James Fischer, Brent Taylor, Clay Taylor, Jason Taylor and Bruce Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Magee, Craig Magee, Dewayne Taylor, Scott Taylor and Jeff Taylor. Burial was in the church cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Renette Crain Thomas Renette Crain Thomas, age 84, and a resident of Pine Community died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Medical Center. She was a retired school teacher of the Washington Parish School System. She was a member of the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by three grandchildren, Grant Thomas, Carla Renee Thomas and Chanda Brant, all of Pine; one brother, Lavell Crain of Pine; two sisters, Mrs. Hal (Annette) Hendrick and Mrs. Reggie (Maureen) Bourne, both of Pine. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Thomas; children, Michael and Dale Thomas; parents, Austin and Elizabeth Gerald Crain; and 7 brothers, Burdette, Johnny, Doyle, Ray, Cecil, Harold and Don Crain. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. after 10 a.m. Tuesday. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Willie J. Passman and the Reverend Jesse Charpentier officiating. Pallbearers were Bruce Crain, Larry Crain, Herbert McKenzie, Chad Cooper, Jeff Smith and Raymond Bourne. Burial was in the Crain’s Creek Church Cemetery.
