She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in the Washington Parish School System for many years. She was also a member of Phi Mu and Washington parish Retired Teachers Association and the First Baptist Church of Franklinton. She is survived by her husband: Chester Jenkins of Franklinton; one daughter and son-in-law: Diana and Karl Casanova of Enon; three grandchildren: Casey, Clint and Kristen Casanova of Enon; one brother and sister-in-law: Earl and Dorothy Wood of Franklinton; and one sister and brother-in-law: Elsie and Bob Carter of Columbia, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents Willie H. and Lillian B. Wood. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rodney Wood, Rev. Karl Tingle and Rev. Greg Carrol officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery. Family suggest donations to Library Fund of First Baptist Church. Pallbearers for the service were Casey Casanova, Clint Casanova, Bobby Carter Johnny Shepherd, Alvin Wood, and Scott Carlton. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thelma Bickham, Franklinton Thelma Bickham, 72, of Franklinton died Monday, September 11, 2000 at Bogalusa Community Medical Center. She was a resident of Franklinton and a native of Warnerton, Louisiana. She is survived by her husband, Erbie Bickham, Sr. of Franklinton; six sons, Lonnie (Beatrice) Bickham, Larry (Tonia) Bickham, Erbie Bickham, Jr., Jerry (Ella Rose) Bickham, and Artis Bickham of Franklinton, and Kenneth (Mary) Bickham of Folsom; one daughter, Bessie (Johnnie) Lampton of Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Elbert (Mandy) Magee of Franklinton; twenty-six grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Renet Bickham Tate of Franklinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and devoted friends. Visitation was held Thursday, September 14, 2000 at Crain and sons funeral Home in Franklinton from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. with a wake service following at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness with Elder Raymond Dyson officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Church Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alphus Tullos Thigpen, Springhill Community Alphus Tullos Thigpen, 91, a resident of the Springhill Community died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church and the widow of Floyd Thigpen. She is survived by one daughter, Verne Creel of Franklinton; five grandchildren, Sherri Thomassen, Janet Carter, Barry Jenkins, Terry Jenkins, and Bradley Jenkins; ten great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Jenkins. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home Monday after 9 a.m. and continued until time for services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Scott Thomassen, Jason Thomassen, Lane Thomassen, Joseph Carter, Brandon Jenkins, and Danny Carter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vera Mae Sibley Wilson, Tylertown Vera Mae Sibley Wilson, 68, of Tylertown, MS died September 10, 2000 at Walthall County General Hospital. She was a housewife. She is survived by her husband, Willie Wilson of Tylertown; her mother, Larcena Simmons also of Tylertown; nine sons, Robert (Mary) Sibley, Lenzie (Betty) Sibley, all of Tylertown, Charles (Brenda) Sibley of Jackson, Dennis Wilson of Covington, Willie Wilson Jr. of New Orleans, Gilbert Wilson of LaPlace, Loniel Wilson of Franklinton, Charles Wilson of new Orleans, and Andrea Wilson of Franklinton; eleven daughters, Laura (William) Jones of Tylertown, Shirley (Edward) Waller, Jayess, Elaine (William) Mitchell of Houston, Betty (Michael) Magee of Tylertown, Selena (Daniel) Holmes of Baton Rouge, Debra (Oliver) Magee and Cynthia (James) Martin both of Tylertown, Shirley Long, of Jackson, Linda Nell Ruffin of Tylertown, Roma Jean Johnson and Amy Wilson both of Franklinton; one sister Roma (Russell) Sparrow of New Orleans; and twenty grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Wednesday, September 13, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 14, at 12 noon at Mt. Morial Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Bickham officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Robert B. Miller, Mt. Pisgah Community Robert B. Miller, 88, a resident of the Mt. Pisgah Community died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday. He was a tractor salesman for Smith and Smith Tractor Company for many years. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He is survived by one son, Robert Russell Miller of Mt. Hermon; two daughters, Hilda Jean Duncan of McComb, MS and Bobbie Coyle of Mt. Hermon; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Avie Miller Walker and a brother Wilford Miller. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Tuesday until time for the funeral services at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Bailey officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church building fund. Pallbearers for the service were Sammy Smith, Jimmy Cannon, Pete Cannon, Pat Smith, Donnie Smith and Jeff Smith.
