Graves, 93, a native of the Hays Creek community died at 1 a.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was a missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention and was a professor at the Seinan GaKuin University in Japan for 41 years. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home Chapel with Rev. John Gilbert and Rev. Fredrick Brumfield officiating. Burial followed in the Hays Creek Church Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Roby Graves, Glen Graves, Jerry Graves, Lester Bankston, Malcom James, and Gary Brumfield. DOROTHY MAE SPEARS COOPER, Franklinton, La. (The Era-Leader January 3, 2001) Dorothy Mae Spears Cooper, 69, a resident of Franklinton died at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Franklinton and the widow Of Claude Cooper. She is survived by five daughters Mrs. Jay (Peggy) Cooper of Bush, Sue Copper and Cleve Slaven of Franklinton, Mrs. Rickey (Virginia) Penton of Pine, Mrs. Charles (Kathy) McGinnis of Denham Springs, and Mrs.Kerry (Donna) Loyd of Covington; one son and his spouse, Cecil and Bernice Cooper of Walker; twenty-five grandchildren and fifteen=20 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Claude Cooper, Jr., Claude Allen (CA) Cooper and Gilbert Cooper. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday. Burial followed in the Nobles Cemetery at Pine. Pallbearers for the service were Micky Guidry, Sherman Smith, Charles Davis, will Halford, Sam Brock, and Jimmy Brock. HERD JULIUS MILLER, Franklinton, La. (The Era-Leader January 3, 2001) Herd Julius Miller, beloved husband, father, and community leader in Franklinton passed away on December 24, 2000, at his residence after a courageous battle with paralysis and can- cer, He was born on June 5, 1925 in Springfield, La. to Bosa and Grace Smith Miller. He was a resident of Franklinton for the past 53 years. Mr. Miller graduated from LSU in 1947 where he was a member of the L Club having lettered in football and basketball. he was also a member of the ODK and the Block and Bridal Club. He moved to Franklinton in 1947 as assistant County Agent and in 1950 established the Washington Parish Tractor Company. Later in 1959 he was named a Ford Automobile dealer and formed Miller Ford Company. He was past president of the La, Holstien Association, La. Animal Breeders Co-op, The Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank and Trust Co. in Franklinton and served for many years as chairman of the Rodeo Committee for the Washington Parish Fair Association. He served on a committee that was instrumental in establishing a milk manufacturing plant in the Franklinton area. He was a charter member of the Franklinton Country Club and the long Range Skeet Club. He was a member of the Franklinton First Baptist Church and the Ben Morgan Sunday School class and Franklinton Masonic Lodge #101. He is Survived by his wife Pam Autin Miller of Franklinton; a son Dale Miller of Baton Rouge five daughters Kathy Miller Bourgeois of Thibodaux, Joan Miller Landry of Denham Springs, Pamela Miller of Richmond, Va., Cheryl Miller Gossen of Kingwood,Tx., and Laura Miller Dupre of San Antonio, Tx; eight grandchildren: John Miller, Anne Miller, Jean-Paul Bourgeois, Rebecca and Matthew Landry, Desi Andrew, and Neal Gossen; Two Sisters Melna Willie of Livingston and Bertha Lee Ryan of Pascagoula, Ms.; Three Brothers, Morris Miller, Jimmie Miller and Valmom Miller all of Livingston. DELTA MAE JONES WOODS, Enon, La. (The Era-Leader, January 10, 2001) Delta Mae Jones Woods, 86, a resident of the Enon Community died Thursday at her residence. She was the widow of Cyril L. Woods and a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was a retire teacher having taught 33 years at Enon and Isabel schools. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Beryl Jo and Flavius Sharp, Charlotte and troy Ginn and Chris and Jennifer Ginn; and great-grandsons, Eric and Karlton Ginn and Zackary Ginn. "Dick" Magee, Sr., 84, of Anderson, TX died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at St.=20 Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX. He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on November 9, 1916 the son of John LaFayette and Edith Stella (Jenkins) Magee. He was retired from Wyatt C. Hedrick Co. where he was an Executive Vice-President. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Lieutenant (ig), member of the American Legion Post in Anders, Sons of Confederant Veterans, MENSA International Society for Philosophic Enquiry. He was the beloved father of Cheri T. Smith of Mandeville; brother of Bobby and Wilda Thomas of Kentwood, and John and Alma Thomas of Ocean springs, MS; grandfather of Alyssa Nicole Smith of Man- deville; and step-father of Chan Fitzmoriss of Franklinton. He was a native and long life resident of Franklinton, a veteran of World War II and a member of the V.F.W. He was a retired Merchant Marine Engineer. He was a retired state employee from the Department of Transportation and veteran ote United States Army. He was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by seven daughters, Beatrice Jenkins, Iren Corkern, Inez Passman, Ruby Graves, and Patricia Busby all of Franklinton. Vivian Smith of Mt. Hermon and Mildred Leathers of Tylertown; one son, Walter Cooper of Kentwood and two sisters, Bonnie Magee and Earline=20 Miller both of Franklinton. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and=20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Cooper and Rob Gill and four sons, Claude Cooper, A.J. (The Era-Leader, January 24, 2001) A soldier of the Lord and World war II Veteran with 16 months as a P.O.W., Connie R Reeves, died at his home on January 12, 2001 at 6:50 a.m. at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer. He was a member of Wilmer Baptist Church.
