Mason Fornea Died January 27, 2001 01/31/01 Mason Fornea (Died January 27, 2001) BOGALUSA - Mason Fornea, 81, died at his residence in Angie early yesterday morning. He was born to Iddo and Beulah Fornea on December 12, 1920 in Angie, LA, the town he was to live in most of his life. Fornea was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he obtained the rank of sergeant and served tours in England, Italy and North Africa. After returning from the war, he had a 32 year career with the Illinois Central Gulf and GM&O railroad, where he retired in 1983. Fornea also served the town of Angie as alderman for 11 years. He served as head of the Angie Waterworks for 20 years. He was a member of Angie Baptist Church all his life. His life can be summed up in one word - servant. He always did whatever he could to help anyone in need. He was survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Terry L. Fornea; two sons, Mason Allen Fornea and Gregory Mike Fornea, both of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Matthew Allen Fornea, Andrew Michael Fornea, Katherine Danielle Fornea, and Luke Michael Fornea; two sisters, Mrs. Nita Burdette of Cambridge, MD, and Mrs. Yvonne Guillory of Eunice,LA; two brothers, William B. 'Bishop' Fornea of Angie, and Iddo B. 'Son' Fornea of Bogalusa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iddo and Beulah Fornea and one grandson, Scott Allen Fornea. She was the widow of Errol L. Jenkins and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church where she served as Director of her Women on Mission Group and program leader. Tuesday nights were special to Jenkins. She and five friends met for 24 years for "Craft Night."Jenkins was an active and outstanding member of Home and Garden Club in Franklinton for approximately 50 years. She served in the office of President and held leadership positions in every office.She was acclaimed for her love of flowers and her creative talents in flower designs at the local club flower shows. She was also recognized throughout the parish for her winning designs at the Washington Parish Free Fair Flower Show. For over 30 years, a tradition was established as she presented the Christmas Story to the Garden Club each December. He is a former member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Bogalusa and a current member of the House of Prayer and Life Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Franklinton. He was a tenth grade student at Bogalusa High School where he was an active member of the Lumberjack Football Team, a member of the Bible Club, and the Delta Service Club. Belknap, 81, died Friday at Slidell Memorial Hospice. She was born Oct. 19, 1919 in Berne, Germany.In 1953 she remarried Master Sergeant Hurley C. Belknap, came to the United States and lived in Columbus, Ga., and Anniston, Ala.In 1976 she relocated to New Orleans and lived in the Broadmoor area until 1999, when she moved to Pearl River with her family.She was the daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Schubbe and Rosina Leszczenski Schubbe, both deceased. Her brother Karl Heinz Schubbe was killed in Stalingrad, Russia and her brother Wolfgang Schubbe died in Frankfurt, Germany. Her husband died in 1972 and is interred at National Cemetery in Ft. Benning, Ga.Survivors include her brother, Freidrich Wilhelm Schubbe of Flensburg, Germany; a son, Col. Robert H. A dedicated businessman all of his life, Clinton remained active in the timber and gasoline businesses, managing the day to day operations of Clinton Oil Company, which owns and operates a retail gasoline outlet on Avenue F in Bogalusa; and Clinton Timber LLC until his death. Born in Lamar County on November 19, 1906 to James "Jim" Monroe Clinton and Mary Elizabeth Aultman Clinton, he graduated from Mississippi College in 1930 and married Anita Margaret Watkins in 1933. Clinton represented Lamar County in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1936 until 1940 and was a Colonel on the staff of Gov. Fielding Wright. Since 1939, Clinton was engaged in a number of businesses throughout his 62 year career, beginning with a cotton gin in Bassfield and a single movie theatre in Monticello that grew into a chain of theatres throughout the state. He later moved into the gasoline business, eventually establishing Clinton Oil Company, an independent gasoline retailer and wholesaler with operations in Mississippi and Louisiana. In his later years, Clinton concentrated much of his time in the accumulation and management of timberland and other investments. A founding member and Chairman of the Board of the Lawrence County Animal Rescue League he loved animals of all shapes and sizes. He was a past-President of the Mississippi Theatre Owners Association, a member of the Monticello Baptist Church, traveled widely, visiting 36 countries, and was an avid train enthusiast. Survivors include two sons, James E. Clinton of hattiesburg and W. Philip Clinton of New Orleans; a daughter, Anita Carroll Clinton Craig of Jackson; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.Preceding him in death was his wife of almost 66 years, Anita W. Hermon, died at 2 a.m. on Saturday in Madisonville at his daughter Ellen's home.He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church and served as a deacon since 1949. He was a chorister for the Discipleship Training Program, the church choir and as a regular soloist. His favorite congregational hymns were "Wayfaring Stranger" and "Stand by Me." For many years he taught the Men's Sunday School class in the little while storehouse on the church grounds. He was a devoted member of various church committees like Pastor Search, Budget, and Church Planning. He was a faithful member of the senior citizen group 'Happy Hearts' established by his wife Beverly. He was a great supporter of state, local and foreign missions. He was the exclusive ringer of the call to worship bell outside the church. His labors of love are evident wherever one looks in the church. He was a generous volunteer for building repairs, maintenance and landscaping projects.He is the retired bus driver of bus No. 53 for the Mt. Hermon School. He retired after driving for 29 years.
