He was a native and former resident of Franklinton. Visitation will be tomorrow at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service on Friday at 1 p.m. Elder Raymond Dyson will officiate. He is survived by two sisters, Mary "Lulu" (Emile) Favaroth and Patricia "Trish" John D.) Cotton, both of Franklinton; an uncle, Marshal Magee of Franklinton; his common law wife, Juanita Thompson, Bogalusa; a special friend, Johnny Miller, Franklinton and a host of special cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. JOHN H. MILLER Died December 30, 1999 CHALMETTE - Funeral services for John H. Miller, 78, a former resident of Bogalusa, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa, with Father Lawrence Phelps officiating. Rosary is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing. Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Mr. Miller died Dec. 30, 1999 at his residence in Chalmette. A veteran of World War II and past commander of American Legion Post 24, Mr. Miller was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was retired from Crown Zellerbach. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Miller, and a special friend, Doris Calabresi. He is survived by a number of cousins and friends. MRS. RICHARDSON Died December 31, 1999 FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Stephen L. Richardson, 66, a resident of Franklinton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Revs. Michael Simmons and Charles Floyd Jr. officiating. Mr. Richardson died Dec. 31, 1999 in the St. Tammany Hospital in Covington. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University and a longtime Franklinton businessman, Mr. Richardson was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean conflict. Mr. Richardson served on the Franklinton Board of Aldermen and was an active member of the Franklinton Volunteer Fire Department for many years, serving as assistant chief and chief. He served on the original board of the Washington Parish Hospital District 1 (Riverside Medical Center) and was retired as maintenance superintendent of Riverside Medical Center. Mr. Richardson, a member of Centenary Methodist Church, was employed at Ace Hardware in Franklinton at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Katherine Richardson, and a sister, Anita Magee. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Stewart Richardson, Franklinton; a daughter and son-on-law, Kay and Kelvin McCain, Franklinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Stacey Richardson, Franklinton; a sister, Joan Simmons, Kentwood; four grandchildren, Stephen Lee McCain, Conner McCain, Mary Kate Richardson and Peyton Richardson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Foster, who died Thursday in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center, was the daughter of the late Shelby Williams and Willie Mae Richardson. She was born on Feb. 6, 1930 in Angie. She was united in marriage to the late Rev. Aaron Crawford, and from this union, five children were born. In 1991, she was reunited in marriage to Robert Foster. She joined the Center Baptist Church at an early age and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Later moving to Bogalusa, she joined the Sweet Beulah Baptist Church. Her dedication and faithful service to the church included her role as choir member, member of Pastor Aide Club, member of the Missionary Society. At anytime day or night, if the phone rang, she was always there to comfort and offer her services. She was a strong Christian Soldier who touched the lives of many people and she will be dearly missed by all. Later in life she rejoined the Center Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Linwood Bolton where she served as a faithful member until her health failed. Survivors include her husband, Robert Foster, a son, Shelby Peters, Bogalusa; four daughters, Jo Ann (Walter) Singleton, Monticello, MS, Lille B. Crawford, Picayune, Erica L. Mrs. Seal, who died yesterday at 7:24 p.m. in the LSU Washington-St. Tammany Regional Medical Center, was the daughter of Willie and Bessie Boone Pope, born Aug. 22, 1925 in Angie. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Varnado and a member and Past Worthy Matron of Pushepatappa Chapter No. 239, Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to Leroy "Slick" Seal on March 15, 1941. Of this union four children were born. Mrs. Seal co-owned with her husband the Community Grocery Store in Varnado for many years. After she closed the store, she worked for the Meals on Wheels delivering lunches to the elderly. She was always known to have food on her table for anyone who stopped by her house and was always willing to help those less fortunate in the community. Mrs. Seal was a loving mother and wife. The last several years of her life was a testimony to her determination. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Bessie Boone Pope; two brothers, William Pope and James Edward Pope. TRESSIE PERRY Died January 28, 2000 CARRIERE, Miss. - Funeral services for Mrs. Tressie Perry, 89, a resident of Carriere, Miss., are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Henleyfield, Miss., the Revs. Sollie Smith and Arthur Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Henleyfield Cemetery, McDonald Funeral Home of Picayune, Miss. Directing. Visitation was Saturday after 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss. Mrs. Perry died Jan. 28, 2000 at her residence in Carriere, Miss. A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitmann Perry, and a grandson, Brent Perry. Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Nunn, Bogalusa, La., Annette Seal, Crossroads, Miss., and Rita Smith, Lucedale, Miss.; three sons, Clarence Barton, Royce Perry and Raymond Perry, all residents of Carriere, Miss., 14 grand- Children, 20 great-grandchildren, four special adopted grandsons, James Burn- side, Taylor Burnett, Rocky Dubuisson and Jonathan Wheat, and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Burnette, Rocky Dubuisson and Ron Robinson, along with granddaughters, Debbie Aaron, Cherita Geraldson, Teresa Tretber, Tawana Applegate, Becky Byrd and Trudy Scales. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Elbert Barton, Steve Nunn, Kirt Perry, Kelvin Nunn, Douglas Smith, Malcolm Perry, Shannon Perry and Earl Seal II. MRS. CHERYL NIELSON SCHILLING Died January 28, 2000 FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Cheryl Nielson Schilling, 41, a resident of the Mt. Pisgah community of Washington Parish, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton. The Rev. Ed Jenkins, the Rev. Ed Griffin, the Rev. Denny Brumfield and the Rev. Luther Stanford will officiate. Visitation was yesterday from 6-10 p.m. and continues after 8 a.m. today until time for the services. Burial will follow in the Hayes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Crain Funeral Home. Mrs. Schilling died at 1 p.m. Thursday at her residence. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Otho Schilling Jr., Mt. Pisgah Community; two sons, Brandon Schilling and Cole Schilling, both of Mt. DORIS YVONNE WAYNE Died January 28, 2000 BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Yvonne Wayne, 78, a resident of Poplarville, Miss. are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Mitchell's Chapel Church of God Church at Crossroads, Miss., with the Rev. Mrs. Wayne died Jan. 28, 2000 at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center. She resided at 339 Humphery Rd. in Poplarville, Miss. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie R. Salyers, Mounds, Okla.; a son, David E. Wayne, Crossroads, Miss.; a sister, Rosalie Richardson, Pascagoula, Miss.; a brother, Clarence Darrell Couley, Moss Point, Miss., seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. MRS. FLORENCE DUNAWAY Died January 29, 2000 BOGALUSA - Mrs. Florence Dunaway, 80, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, died Sat- urday evening in Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Mrs. Dunaway was a member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oveid Dunaway. MRS. FLORENCE DUNAWAY Died January 29, 2000 BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Florence Dunaway, 80, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa is scheduled at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Poole- Ritchie Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Purvis, a cousin, and the Rev. Hugh Warren officiating. Visitation was yesterday from 4:30 to 10 p.m. and continued today from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow at Ponemah Cemetery. Mrs. Dunaway died Saturday at 6 p.m. at Columbia Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, following a lengthy illness. Employed as a nurse before her retirement, Mrs. Dunaway worked at Washing- ton-St. Tammany Regional Medical Center, Bogalusa Medical Center, Desporte Clinic and also as a private duty nurse. She was a member of both the Elizabeth Sullivan United Methodist Church in Bogalusa and its Evergreen Club. Mrs. Dunaway will be sadly missed by her family and many members of the Community,especially those belonging to the Italian-American club and those Involved in her sewing circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oveid Dunaway, Sr.; her parents, James J. and Margaret Elizabeth Rogers; three brothers, David Rogers Sr., Frank J. Rogers and Elmo F. Rogers and a sister, Elsie Rogers George. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Janice and Scofield Berthelot, Long Beach, MS, Patricia and Anthony Daldegan, Marrero, Gloria Jean Knight,Judy and William Zwank, Chalmette; a son and daughter-in-law, Oveid and Lucy Dunaway Jr., Baton Rouge; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two Brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Dolly Rogers Jr., Harold T. Rogers and Edna Rogers; JAMES DOUGLAS "DOUG" KENNEDY Died January 29, 2000 PINE - The funeral service for James Douglas "Doug" Kennedy,81,is scheduled at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pine Missionary Baptist Church, with Eld.
