VARNADO - Agnes Ellen Adams died yesterday at the age of 82 at her
residence in Varnado. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law,
John Ervin and Lila Adams of Bell Chasse, Quincy and Charlene Adams of
Varnado and Marvin and Virginia Adams of Bogalusa; one daughter, Bonnie
Strahan of Slidell; three sisters, Vender Jean Cauley of Pascagoula, Ms,
Mary Hager of Victoria, TX, and Loucrisie Reynolds of Varnado; three
brothers, Ralph Ard and Kenneth Ard both of Franklinton and James Owens of
Hackley; 11 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Adams; two brothers, Benton
Ard and Charlie Owens; and one son-in-law, Wiley Strahan.
Visitation will be held at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home today at 5:30 p.m.
until 10 p.m and after 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. The funeral service will be held
at the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m.
tomorrow with the Rev. Doyle Ball, the Rev. R.J. Kennedy and the Rev.
Edward Penton officiating. Interment will follow in Rubin Adams Memorial
Cemetery.

BOGALUSA Creson Stanley Powell, died Saturday in Bogalusa Community Medical
Center at the age of 90. He was born June 19, 1909 near Liberty in Amite
County, MS, and reared in the Sunny Hill community of Washington Parish
where he graduated from Sunny Hill School. He was the son of the late
Hillery Waller Powell and Saluda Hurst Powell. He has resided in Bogalusa
since 1927 when he came to work in the chemical laboratory of the Paper
Mill where he retired as a supervisor from Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in
1974. Mr. Powell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bogalusa.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie Jean Powell Tynes of
Bogalusa and Patsy Ruth Powell and Eldon F. Wesley of Canoga Park, CA;
three granddaughters, Pamela Jean Tynes Kaminski and husband Mark L.
Kaminski of London, England, Terri Ruth Wesley Bucy and husband Ron Bucy of
Valencia, CA and Dalene Ann Wesley of Sylmar, CA; numerous nieces and
nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Oree Alford Powell; his
only son, Jan Creson Powell; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hillery Waller
Powell; seven brothers, Prentiss Powell, Clayton B. Powell, Burnell H.
Powell Sr., Hilery W. Powell, Louis B. Powell, Percy M. Powell and Felder
C. Powell; three sisters, Clara Mae Powell Grace, Geneva Powell Mitchell
Pettitt Jones and Bonnie Mae Powell.
Visitation will be today at Poole-Richie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10
p.m.
Visitation will continue tomorrow at 8 a.m. until the funeral service
begins at 2 p.m. The Rev.
Keith Manuel will officiate with Jon Kittrell assisting. Interment will
follow in Hillview Memorial Gardens.

BOGALUSA - Creson Stanley Powell, died Saturday in Bogalusa Community

Keith Manuel officiated with Jon Kittrell assisting. Interment followed in
Hillview Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers were Lewis Ray Powell,
Richard Powell, Darren Powell, Robert Creson Powell, Henry "Tank" Powell,
and Gordon Powell. Honorary Pallbearers included Ray M. Powell, Warren
Powell, Tommy Powell, Burnell H. Powell Jr., Thomas Warner Powell, Stanley

BOGALUSA Mrs. Eunice Anthaume, died Thursday at Dixon Medical Center of
Covington, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of Ellis and Suzanne
Denham, and was reared in Bogalusa.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd R. and Helen Anthaume
of Ilion, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd Anthaume; her
only daughter, Iona Gaines; one son Ronald Anthaume; her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ellis Denham; and five brothers.
Visitation will be at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Sunday beginning at 6
p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral
home chapel Monday where visitation will continue at 9 a.m. until the
funeral service begins at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bob Belknap, J.D. of The
Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Ponemah
Cemetery.

Orleans Sunday. She was a native of Sonny Hill Community and a former

both of New Orleans; one sister, Jessie Thomas of Franklinton; five
grandchildren, Lesley P. Christophe, Takashima P. Robinson, Karomie M.

Aaronesia Christophe, Jumaane Christophe, William G. Robbinson III, She'

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, A.G. and Norma L. Jones;

BOGALUSA Funeral arrangements have been completed for Clotile Mims, age 62,
a resident of Good Samaritan Nursing Home, who died Thursday at the
Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. Ms. Mims was a retired teacher of
36 years. She worked several years as a business teacher in Memphis, TN,
Breaux Ridge, LA, and Seattle, WA. She returned to Bogalusa in 1982 to
teach typing and special education.
Ms. Mims was a longtime resident of Bogalusa where she was a member of
Bethlehem Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Louisiana
Association of Educators and National Association of Educators.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvette Mims of Bogalusa; three sisters,
Edith Cowart of New Orleans, Sarah (Art) Oneto of Vallejo, CA, and Shirley
Mims of Oakland, Ca; three brothers, David Mims, Jr. of Oakland, Daniel
(Andrea) Mims of Seattle, WA, and Frank (Barbara) Mims of Baton Rouge; one
Aunt, Viola Mims Adams of Lumberton, MS; a host of nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents David Sr. and Viola Mims; one
sister Lola Armstrong and two brothers, Matthew James and Gus Mims.
Visitation will be today from 2 until 5 p.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home,
followed by family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be
held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr.

community, died Wednesday at the Riverside Medical Center. She was a member
of the Crain's Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by two
sons, Jerry Penton and Rickey Penton both of Pine; one daughter, Mrs.
J.C. (Betty) Martin of Pine; four sisters, Wilena Roddy of Pine, Mildred
Spears of Carriere,MS, Ruth Hopkins of Bogalusa, and Audine Strong of
Marshall, TX; 11 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delos Penton; three sons, D.J.

BOGALUSA - Clyde Prentiss Hamilton, age 86, died Wednesday at his residence
in Baton Rouge. He was an employee of Ethyl Corporation and was of the
Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and WWII and was also a
native of Washington Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Neva Montgomery Hamilton; one
daughter, Elizabeth H.
Fowler of Austin, TX; two sons, John Lewis Hamilton and wife, Pat, and
Jerry W. Hamilton and wife, Kaye, all of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Velma
Grantham and Gladys Quave, both of Bogalusa; eight grandchildren; and
several great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Rabenhurst Funeral Home East yesterday from 5 p.m.
until 8 p.m. and today after 8 a.m. Religious services will be held in the
funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. today with Rev. Tommy French officiating.
Interment will follow in Ponemah Cemetery at 1 p.m. today conducted by Rev.
Charles Purvis.

Flurry of Louisville, MS, and Hallie M. Rouse of New Orleans; a brother,

grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Chapel of Tilghman
Funeral Home in Louisville, MS.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. She is survived by one son,
Jeffrey R. Thompson of Starkville, MS; mother, Ellarose Salmen Sullivan of

Carden of New York, NY.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norton M. Lewis.
A private family Inurnment will be held at a later date in Greenwood
