He was a native of Franklinton and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, and a longtime Sunday school teacher at Springhill Baptist Church, near Franklinton. Mr. King was retired from the federal government and was an avid reader. He also loved fishing and had a special place in his heart for those in need. Later in life, Mr. King worked with and made contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. He is survived by his daughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, on Wednesday until the funeral service in the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Byrd/Letchworth Cemetery.
