A resident of Franklinton, he died at his home Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, with his wife of 63 years, Maxine Kuhn, and other family members in his presence. A lifelong resident of Washington Parish, he worked as a youth for the Great South Lumber Co. of Bogalusa. For 43 years, he was the manager of Gold Seal Creamery of Franklinton. He was well known throughout the dairy business during the years when Franklinton was referred to as The Center of the DairyIndustry. In later years, he was employed with the First Baptist Church of Franklinton and Crain Funeral Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Friendship Sunday School class. He placed great emphasis during his lifetime on the educational pursuits of his children. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his keen sense of humor and the pleasure he derived from fellowship with his numerous friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Maxine George Kuhn; a daughter, Mary Louise Kuhn Booty and son-in-law, Melvin Farnell Booty; a son, G. Wayne Kuhn, and daughter-in-law, Sarah Kennedy Kuhn, all of Franklinton; a son, L. Robert Kuhn Jr., and daughter-in-law, Barbara Breeden Kuhn, Baton Rouge; a sister, Grace Kuhn Jones; a brother, Carson Odom; four grandchildren, Leslie Catherine Kuhn, Christopher Wayne Kuhn, Laura Rebecca Kuhn and Lisa Michelle Kuhn; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Tammy Carlisle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kate Givens Kuhn Odom and Valley Kuhn; three brothers, Eton Kuhn, Barney Kuhn and Waldo Odom; and a sister, Myrtis Kuhn Carrier. Visitation at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday. Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Franklinton, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Karl Tingle, Dr. Jerry Barlow and the Rev. Ben Morgan officiating. Graveside rites will follow at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Bogalusa, conducted by the Rev. John Gilbert. The family suggests memorial donations to Washington Parish Fair Project Playground, 1027 Main St., Franklinton, LA 70438 or to a charity of one's choice.
