All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ The Era-Leader – Franklinton, Washington Parish Louisiana 3 Sep 1997 Mr. Michael Edward McClendon, 48, a native of Franklinton and a resident of Belle Chase, died Sunday while working near San Juan, Puerto Rico. (31 Aug 1997) He was a specialty contractor in industrial planning and was working in an oil refinery near San Juan and died of an apparent Heart Attack. He was a US Army veteran and was active as a coach in Bantam League Football and Little League Baseball programs in Belle Chase. Mr. McClendon is survived by his wife, Mary Holden McClendon of Belle Chase; two sons, Jeffery Scott McClendon and Brantley Edward McClendon both of Belle Chase. Visitation was held at the Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Eld Mason Miley and Rev. Ron Ledford officiating. Burial followed in the Canaan Cemetery. As an optional form of memorials, donations on his behalf to the B.C. Youth Boosters Club, PO BOX 732, Belle Chase, LA 70037, are suggested. Pallbearers for the service were William Seals, Robert Holden, Farrion Holden, Keith Ragas, Joe Stifflemire, and Jerry Hodnett.
