She was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church and served as a columnist for the Era-Leader newspaper for many years. She is survived by her husband, Francis D. Sylvest Sr. of Franklinton; three sons and daughters-in- law, F.D. "Doug" Sylvest Jr. and John Edward and Pat Sylvest, all of Franklinton, and Howard Ray and Debbie Sylvest of Denham Springs; four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary S. and Barry Pence and Carolyn S. Hughes, all of Franklinton, Beverly S. and William Mills of Lewisburg, TN, and Carmen Louise and Henry Welch of Baton Rouge; a sister, Edith Rushing of Kentwood; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Arebelle Spinks Sylvest of Franklinton. She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Barry Leroy Pence Jr., Mark Anthony Sylvest and John Allen Donaldson Jr.; her parents, Howard Ray and Sybil Speed Booty; a sister, Bessie Marie Clifton; and a brother, George R. Booty. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton today from 6-9 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. until the chapel funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Sammie Smith will officiate and burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
