State of Louisiana, Parish of Washington, Twenty-sixth Judicial District Court

To any Minister of the Gospel,Justice of the peace or any other Person Legally 
Authorized to Celebrate Marriage Ceremonies in Said Parish and State.

You are hereby authorized and empowered to unite in Holy Wedlock Moke Davis 
and Dixie Newman and when you have so done, return duplicate thereof within 
thirty days to this office as the law directs

Given under my official signature, this 17th day of March A.D. 1924

I the undersigned have celebrated the Marriage ceremony between Mr. Moke Davis 
and Dix Newman (sic) and caused them to sign these presents in the presence of

Earnest Taylor, Rosetta Newman and Mat Newman (sic)

Additional Comments:
Mat Newman on the certificate refers to Dixie Newman's father - his name was 
James Madison Newman although he was called Matt. Dixie and Moke were my great 
grandparents
