Rowe will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the Rose-Neath Chapel, Minden with Ministers Matt Cate, Dr. Randy Hales and Tom Carlton officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. today, October 26. Mr. Rowe was born in Palestine, Ark. on Dec. 6, 1933 to A.D. and Sarah Jackson Rowe. He died on Oct. 25, 2007. He was the youngest of seven children. Mr. Rowe retired after 21 years in the United States Navy, where he served as an electrician and lay chaplain in the submarine service and as a lay pastor on the U.S.S. John King during the Vietnam War. He served the Lord as deacon, Sunday School teacher and in many other positions at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Groton, Conn., Screven Memorial Baptist Church, Portsmouth, N.H. and Emmanuel Baptist Church, Minden. For the last 10 years, he enjoyed the fellowship of being a Gideon and spreading God's word. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jane Vandiver Rowe; his children, Marcy and Paul Culpepper, Steve Rowe and Cindy and Ricky Plunkett; his grandchildren, Kenny and Allison Rowe, April and Todd Hylbert, Heather and Derek Kennedy, Leah and Chase Lummus, Stephanie Rowe, Matthew Culpepper, Anna Rowe, Courtney Plunkett, Kevin Culpepper and Whittney Plunkett; one sister, Marie Thomasson of Joplin, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Matt Little, Brian Mixon, Douglas Culpepper, Ricky Blake, Paul Stanfield, Mike Brinkley, Gary Bridges and Greg Loftin. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow Gideons and his Men's Sunday School Class, Emmanuel Baptist Church.
