Jackson Decd. The Petition of W.C. Jackson. To the honorable 10th District Court of Carroll Parish of Carroll State of Louisiana. The undersigned Petitioner prays to be appointed Administrator in the Succession of his father Edwin B. Jackson who died on Bayou Macon at the residence of the petitioner on the 31st day of July 1855 leaving as his heirs W. C. Jackson and E.C. Jackson of the Parish of Carroll, La and L. M. Jackson of the State of Tennessee. W. C. Jackson Nov. 12th, 1855 Let Ten day notice be given and if no opposition be made in that time the prayer of the petitioner will be granted also let and Inventory and appraisement be made of the property and effects righst and credits of Edwin B. Jackson ded., Carroll Parish of La, November 13th, 1855 P.W. DeFrance Clerk, District Court Notice Wilford C.Jackson has applied for the administratior of his father Edwin B. Jackson. If no opposition be made in ten days, he will be appointed. Carroll Parish of La, Nove. 13th 1855, P.W. DeFrance, Clerk,by N.A. Dortch Dy. Clerk, of the law and Evidence in this case being in favor of and no opposition having been made it is hereby ordered [petitioner] be appointed as Prayed for November 24 1855 [Carroll Parish of La] P.W. DeFrance clerk District Court To the Hon. Judge of the Thirteenth Judical District Court of State of Louisiana in and for the Parish of Carroll-The Petition of Wilford C. Jackson, Administrator of the Succession of Edwin B. Jackson decst respectfully here in files his final account as Said Administratior with proper vouchers accompanying the Same Shows that Said act gives a full & detailed account of all his acts & doings as Said Administrator Since the date of his Administration in Novr 1855 the date of his appointment. Shows as will appear that all the Debts of Said Succession have been paid and there still would remain in his hands a ballance of except for the amts which he has paid to L. M. Jackson and E. C. Jackson amounting to as much or more than their interest in Said Succession. Petitioner therefore prays that the Notices and Delays Legal & Customery in Such Cases be waived and dispensed with that said account be Homologated his bond cancelled and Said Administrator be discharged from further Administration & general refief. W. C. Jackson Petitioner and Adminstrator Be it Known that on this the Tenth day of the month of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and fifty five, in pursuance of an order to me directed, issued this day from the office of the Clerk of the Tenth Judicial District Court in and for the Parish of Carroll State of Louisiana, requiring an Inventory & appraisement of the property & effects-rights and credits belonging to the succession of Edwin B. Jackson late of this Parish deceased. I, Sanders D. Oliver Recorder and Exofficio Notary Public in and for said Parish of Carroll State of Louisiana, duly commissioned and Sworn did appoint Hiram R. Lott and John Bishop, both residents of the Parish as appraisers, to whom I administerd the following Oath, towit,"We do solemnley swear that we will well and truly appraise the property and effects rights & credits belonging to the succession of Edwin B. Jackson deceased according to the best of our knowledge and belief so help us God --Sworn & Subscribed before me this 10th day of Decr. A.D. 1855--H. R. Lott-John Bishop Whereupon we proceeded in presence of the witnesses herein after named and undersigned, to make the following Inventory and appraisement To wit-- Item 1st- A certain Preemption Right to & improvement on the North West quarter of Section No 5 in Township No 19.N. Range No 10. East, appraised at $150.00 Item 2nd- A certain Military Bounty Land Warrant issued in the name of decedent for 80 acres of Land appraised at $80.00 Item 3rd - A certain claim for a certain other Military Bounty Land Warrant, to be obtained under the Act of Congress of the 3rd March 1855 for 80 acres of land appraised at $80.00. Recapitulation: Item 1st-------$150.00 Item 2nd-------- 80.00 Item 3d--------- 80.00 Amounting in Recapitulation to $310.00 Three Hundred and Ten Dollars Additional Comments: Edwin Boyd Jackson was my great-great-great grandfather. He is buried on the Lower Jackson Mound at Poverty Point.
