Mex 88220 Oct 27, 1968 Dear Roy: Please pardon me for taking so long to ans. your letter. I really have a good excuse as I have been in & out of 4 different hospitals since Tuesday after Labor day. Thanks to the Lord I am home now, but still very weak. Trying to gain my strength is a very slow "go". You know I am 76 Years "Young" and I can not come back quite as fast as I could 20 years ago. I haven't worked on your reports as I should have, but just could not. I was in El Paso, Texas, in the hospital and I did get one from Edith Herring's husband (Col. H. W. Cooper.) You may be able to get some information out of the bible that was grand Mothers. (Inserted here), (Mrs. M. L. B. Johns). Cleo, one of Palmer's Sisters, who lives in Delhi. I have had to move so many times until I have lost my mother's records. and her trunk burned at Winnie's home. and she lost all the family pictures. I would suggest you write Hattie McIntyre-1921 Adams St., Pecos, Texas, sending her a sheet of paper for her to ans., also one for her Brother, Carl, they will ans. these for you. Also send her one for Eunice Herring Bish. They have retired and live some place in California - I do not know the names of her (Eunice's) grand children - You might try Mrs. J. C. Wilson, Box 108, Pecos, Texas - I believe she can tell you J.C.'s grand children's name aslo his wife Bettie's name. I knew the names of the 2 elder Childrens but their baby is a girl + she is 3 yrs. old. Jim lives in Denver - I do not have his address. Palmer can give you the names of Eugene's 6 children by his 2nd wife Their names + childrens names. Irma Boutwell can tell you she is the daughter of Myrthe Jackson Wilson; the date of death; also the names of Irma's Children, as well as her grandchildren- You write Mrs. Anne W. Lyles, 242 W. Hadley, Las Cruces, N. Mex. 88001 -- Ask her for what information she can give you on her life + her children. She is 86 1/2 yrs. old and she would not give me any answers. Her mind is as bright as it could be - She has 3 grandchildren and 4 great grand children and one great - great grand daughter. On the Wilsons: My father was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi - Also his brother Benjamin Lafette Wilson and they had a half sister named Effie - She went to Shreveport and no one ever heard of her again. My father owned a General Store at Kilbourne, La. Two men, (Father + Son) came in drunk + tried to make my father take a drink with them. He told then he never drank when on duty. They shot him down + he fell behind the counter - never fired a shot - a friend of my father's came in the back door just in time to see the men shoot my father - He pulled out his gun + Killed both the men. He died 20 years later + had this Killing on his mind and his brother + one nephew were with him. He confessed the Killing. Said Jim Wilson died + no one saw me, so I put my gun in my holster; Went around to the front. He said he couldn't die without making the confession. My father lived a week. My mother stayed with him. She told my Father he was going to die + she wanted the truth. Did he or not Kill those men (McKees were their names). My father told my mother that he never fired a shot. He never Killed any one + my mother said he never lied to her inspite of what people said. "Little" Jim Boulden was one of the men that heard his uncle confess that he killed the McKees but wouldn't tell it after my father died. I just got out of the hospital so pardon my Pencil.
