CALDWELL, aged 5 years. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Nov. 1866 DIED Since we left Floyd we learn of the recent death of JUDGE DOUGHERTY, an old and respected citizen of the place and for many years a practicing member of the Carroll Bar. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 Dec 1866 MARRIED on Thrusday 1 Nov. by the REV. WILLIAM KELLER, REV. THOMAS J. SAGE to MRS. SUSAN SANDERS, all of Carroll Parish. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16 April 1867 We learn that a desperado by the name of LUSK, at Floyd, wantonly shot and killed a freedman of M.C.T. MOTLEY. He was promptly arrested by SHERIFF COLLIN and DEPTY SHERIFF HENDRICK. Our jail is insecure, and no prospect of court being held, it was deemed advisaable to carry him at once to New Orleans to lay the matter before the militaary authorities. The negro murdered was an excellent black- smith and wasw of an amiable and inoffencive charater and is a serious loss to MR. MOTLEY and the whole community. We commend the prompt action of our sheriff in this matter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 1867 DIED on Sunday, the 21st inst, VIRGINIA ROSALIE, eldest daughter of W.R.C. and JULIA J. LYONS. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
