February 2, 1939 The Rev.James Taylor, 70 died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Dickinson, near Oak Grove, Sunday at 8 a.m. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Monday at 2 p.m. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. E.B. Emmerich, pastor of the Methodist Church here, officiated during the rites, assisted by H.W. Ledbetter, pastor of the Pioneer charge of the Methodist Church; and the Rev. John, pastor of the Baptist Church here. One son and five daughter survive. He was widely known in northeast Louisiana where he had served as Methodist minister for many years, during which time he often preached in churches of denominations other than his own.
