September 21, 1939 Funeral services for George Thomas Philley, 64, who died at his home near Oak Grove last Thursday about 6 p.m., were conducted Friday at 3 p.m., from the family residence with the Rev. John R. Campbell, pastor of the Oak Grove Batist Church, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. E.B. Emmerich, pastor of the Oak Grove Methodist Church; and the Rev. W.E. Drummond. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Pneumonia was given as the cause of Mr. Philley's death. He had been ill for about 15 days. Surviving members of the family are Harley E., Carry W., Bernice L., George C., and Tobe D. Philley. Pallbearers were; Bob Duck, Joe Hollingsworth, Will Boutwell, Bob Butler, the Rev. W.D. Drummond and Albert Hollingsworth. The deceased, a native of Mississippi, had been a resident of West Carroll for a number of years.
