May 25, 1939 Dr. L.A. Masterson, public health physician affilated with the Louisiana state board of health in New Orleans, was instantly killed in an automobile accident near Atlanta, Ga. today where he had been in camp as an officer in the reserve corps. Details of the accident were not reported. He was director of the West Carroll Parish Health unit for 18 months, leaving the parish in June, 1934 for a similar position in St. Landry parish. His wife, who was visiting her family in Monroe, was notified of the trgedy by wire. Dr. Masterson was well known in West Carroll parish and was regarded as a young physician with unusual ability and with a future bright promise. the body was sent to New Orleans and Mrs. Masterson and other members of the family went there early today. The funeral and interment will be held in that city.
