November 3, 1938 Funeral and burial services for John C. Thrush, 66, who was killed in an automobile accident near Valparaso, Indiana, last Thursday afternoon, were held at the Methodist Church, Monday at 3 p.m. and continued at the Oak Grove Cemetery where the body was interred. The Rev. R.L. Hull of the Church of god, and the Rev. E.B. Emmerich, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated during the rites. Pallbearers were L.L. James, the Rev. John R. Campbell, John E. Sims, Mansfield Crowe, T.D. Waters and Charles M. Heath. The deceased is survived by two sons, R.R. and Bill Thrush; four daughters, Mrs. C.A. Beinz, Mrs. Owen Trimble Ruby Mae and Mary Thrush; one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Leonard; one brother, Jim Thrush; a half-brother, Ed Miller; and 12 grandchildren. The body of the deceased was returned to Oak Grove Sunday by ambulance from the Indiana city where the fatal accident occurred while the victim was enroute to vist his sister, Mrs. Sylvia Leonard, at Woodburn, Ind. He sustained a broken neck in the accident. Mr. Thrush at the time of his death was employed as an engineer for the Briggs gin. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
