November 22, 1934 Local News Cow Day in Oak Grove is Success Saturday was Cow Day in Oak Grove and, from all indications, was reasonable successful from every standpoint. Sponsored by The Gazette, as a climax to its fall subcription drive and as atrades day for the merchants, the day was featured by the awarding of a fine jersey cow and calf to one of this newspaper's many subcribers. H.T. McIntyre, principal of the Floyd school, was the lucky recipient of the grand award. Other prizes given by The Gazette were: One year's free subscription for The Gazette, B.C. Sanders, of Oak grove community; six months' subscription, Mrs Pauline Mattis, Oak Grove; three months subscription. G.D. Waltman and J.A. Hollingsworth, both of the Oak Grove community. Following the Cow Day awards, at 10 o'clock in the morning at The Gazette office, which were in charge of O.E. Huey parish superintendent of schools, merchants of the town. who were offering numerous bargain items in all lines and several free awards, enjoyed a pleasant business day, it was reported.
