June 23, 1939 Funeral services for James M. Ranie 47 year old painter who lived near here on the Bayou Macon were conducted with full milltary honors today from the Legion Hut at 2:30 p.m. and continued on at the Oak Grove Cemetary. The veteran died Tuesday night about 9:00 at the Vetrans Hospital at Alexandris following a cerebral hemorrhage. The services were were conducted by the Caron-Kelly American Legion post of which he was a member. The Rev. E.B. Emmerich, pastor of the Oak Grove Methodist church officated, with members of the post, performing military services over the grave. Pall bearers were K. Womack, Mark Bowman, Allie Beckworth, D.W. McBride, James and Wilson Delrio. A folley of shots were fired, by a squad consisting of B P Philly, W.H. Kilgo, E.C. --- , and Wade Hampton acting as the psll bears. Arden B. Smith fifth district legion commander and D.B. Fiske, commander of the local post were in charge of the services at the cemetery.
